His resume is very good now.
Here's why I feel the way I do:

    1. Mendy - was beaten by Bika in the 1st round before Bika bailed him out. "In the first round"! Bute then fights Mendy while he's basically coming off a loss.

    2. Johnson - He's an example of another fighter coming off a loss (i.e Froch). Bute fights him right after the loss.

    3. McGee - Big time Brian McGee!!! Whoopty due!

I've already expressed how I feel about guys beating fighters that are coming off of losses. Bute has been great at that in his last 2 out of 3 fights.

I actually think Bute is a good fighter based on his medium competition so far. But fact of the matter is he needs to fight a live body. Not someone KO'd or coming off a loss.

Bute wants to fight the best, but they've been avoiding him.

He defeated Miranda and Bika more impressively than Ward did.

If Bute was really trying to better his resume, he would've fought Hopkins, Cloud or went to 175 while the SS was taking place, instead of fighting other fighters leftovers.

Secondly, I don't even count Ward or Bute's victory over Miranda.

Abraham, Green, and Pavlik all fought the "true" version of Edison Miranda. IMO, Miranda was actually the first to beat Abraham, not Dirrel. Pavlik was the first to beat Miranda, not Abraham. The version of Miranda that Ward and Bute fought were all shadows of what Miranda use to be.

So we should take Miranda out of this equation because he was clearly not the same.

Just because Bute beat Fighter A more impressively, that still doesn't take away from the fact that his resume is weak right now.

No, definitely not scared. Look at the run he has had. Let him take a gimme in his hometown then he can start to look at the bigger money fights in Kessler and Ward in their hometowns.

To even bring this question up, this is really unfair and disrespectful to Andre Ward. Man the guy just won the Super 6, fought the best PROVEN guys in the division, beat all of them that were put in front of him, took on Sakio Bika as a stay busy fight, dominated Kessler, Froch, Abraham, Green. Oh, but he's scared of the somewhat unproven Lucian Bute. Give him a break.

LMAO! So let's get this straight-The best in SMW have been avoiding Bute by fighting in the Super 6 tournament??? If Bute wanted to enter this tourney, why was he "waiting around for an invitation"? Why wouldn't he raise his hand or ask for a slot like Green and Johnson did????

The only guy who "avoided" Bute was Pavlik-a MW who fought at SMW 2 times in his career, and looked like dirt at that weight.

Kessler was recently interviewed and said he was lowballed by Bute....

The first decent guy he may face in Carl Froch gets Bute so scared that he needs to sign a 2 fight deal to prolong his career at SMW.Why not just face Carl in America or somewhere neutral instead of this bogus backyard swap to keep him away from several opponents???

I won't criticize either guy right now. Both are saying the right things. However, if the fight doesn't happen by the end of 2012. Then that's when people should start questioning who really wants the fight and who doesn't.
If Ward actually fights Kessler again, I will get on his ass as well. There is absolutely no reason for Ward to fight a guy he destroyed and out classed again.

If Ward fights Kessler,it is because he will manage to get 3 of the 4 major belts. The last guy who has done this was Calzaghe.

It is a smart business move to come to the negotiating table to Bute with...gives him the bargaining chips for a major fight and a potential 4th belt. Why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

They were still working out the details of Bute's contract and they actually snatched up Green and Johnson pretty quickly without even consideration for Bute.
