I was actually surprised that they gave the split decision to Taylor most of the time they give it to the champ. I guess HBO is just trying to get rid of Hopkin's boring ass. I'm not saying its right, but I just think that's what went down.
Its all cool though there's a rematch clause. It'll be cool to see them late this year or early next for the rematch. Then the winner fights Winky.

Taylor easly won the first four rounds and alot of the other rounds were close. I could see the descion going either way, but a robbery hell no. And i think the cut threw Taylor off alot he will be more patient and well place his shots better in the rematch and win again. Let the Taylor era begin.

OK crackhead, all the people think that Borekins won is Stevie Wonder.

HBO want B-HOP gone because he is hard to work with business wise because he doesn't concede anything on the table even 1%. That may seem like a small number but 1% of $50 million is $500,000. I'd take the 1% any day of the week.

Secondly, B-hop is getting old and having a new champ lined for fights is more ideal.

in my view, Hopkins could have won the fight, but didnt. He showed in the last 2-3 rounds that he could have hurt taylor virtually at will, SO WHY DIDNT HE? Maybe he was expecting to ge a knockdown when he turned up the pace (which he nearly did). Taylor stayingon his feet in the last three rounds decided the fight, i had it one round to taylor.
And also, i think either of them would get owned by winky

I understand you are a Jermain fanboy and I am a bigger fan of Taylor than Hopkins. But I will give credit where it is needed but Jermain did not clearly win that fight. I dont know where you are getting that Hopkins only had the last 3 rounds. He completely dominated him rounds 8-12 and the 5th round was his as was a disputed round early on. Making it 7-5 or 6-6, even up to a point early on Merchant even had one round a draw.

No reason to use obscenities my friend as I am not making excuses. It was close but Hopkins stole the fight by 1 round.

...I didn't see the fight but by watching the round by round and hearing of Taylor's condition at the end I have a couple of observations. It was the total opposite of how one would think a fight would go with BHop and and up and coming superstar. Who would have thought that the "old man" would be the one trying to get back into the fight and dominating at the end and having to go for a knockout? So much for him running out of gas and looking old in the ring. I bet in the rematch he won't give away all of those early rounds and he will knock Taylor out. We shall see.

Hopkins conserved his energy as always and picked his shots early. Hopkins was not winded at any time during the fight, it was Taylor who was huffing and puffing and literally turning his back and running when Hopkins caught him.

I dont think he was trying to get back into the fight as Hopkins fought his normal fight. He picks his shots early and lets his opponents get tired. Which did happen and Taylor did NOT land cleanly on Hopkins for a lot of punches. In the later rounds Hopkins takes over to claim the fight. That is exactly how Hopkins fights and how he fought last night.

Hopkins stole a round early and in the 5th and winning 8th-12th with no questioning. Which would give him the nod and if you cant give Hopkins a round early than it was a draw.

...My point is that Hopkins hasn't gotten himself into a hole like that in forever. Sounds like he took it too easy early and didn't throw enough to get those rounds that he usually gets. Usually he gets his wins in a similar fashion(and without throwing many punches) but doesn't end up losing 6 out of the first 7 rounds. What's your take on a rematch?
