plz read --> my thoughts on HOPKINS VS TAYLOR

first off great fight.
2ndly, for those who said that hopkins does not belong with hagler n hearns n SRL, R WAY off. he made 20 straight defences, no one can do that.

with that being said hopkins started off to slow. i had it 4-2 after 6. in the last 6 rounds, taylor took the first 3, n hopkins easily swept the last 3.


ye hopkins did wobble him in the 10th n 11th, but taylor wobbled him in the 2nd..... that dont mean ****.... he didn't finish the job. im not a diehard fan of either, but i dont hate either. i have respect for both.

sum1 said on this board, when the guy turns around, it means he doesn't want to fight. well hopkins was holding him.
i can c a draw, but i can't c hopkins really winning the fight.

There is no way that he was robbed. Hopkins was behind 5-1 after the first 6 rounds so I don't know what you are talking about.

IMO taylor won trhe first 8/9.. or 7/9, then hopkins took the rest

Hopkins won that fight 116-112. When you throw punches you have to land them the way Hopkins countered Taylor all night. I had it just like Duane Ford with 4 rounds a piece after 8.

Aggression alone doesn't win fights. Counterpunchers never get the benefit when the other guy is aggressive. I'm not the only one who thought Hopkins won 116-112. The majority of press row had Hopkins winning 116-112, some even 117-111 others 115-113. Defense and ring generalship have alot to do with scoring fights. Taylor was following Hopkins all night long and fighting at Hopkins pace. Taylor even admitted to doing it. Ring generalship is when a fighter is controlling his opponent and the fight which is what Hopkins did. Hopkins made Taylor come to him not the other way around. Then in the later rounds when Hopkins came forward and was agressive he still controlled Taylor by backing him and landing punches. Hopkins was effective when making Taylor come to him and he was effective when he was the aggressor. The same can't be said for Taylor.

I didn't see the fight.
From what I've heard...it doesn't sound like any kind of "robbery" took place.
Sounds like one guy edged the other, no matter who you think had the edge...

I'll watch it this Saturday night.
