You guys ever wonder why Bernard Hopkins got started so late? Do you think it's because he knows himself well enough to know that his old bones can't go at a fast pace for more than 4-5 rounds?
If he got started in the 6th round, maybe he would have ran out of gas by the 10th.
He figured he would get started late so by then, Taylor would tire himself a little. It would be pointless to go toe to toe with a younger kid only to tire yourself out in later rounds.
Just speculation.
I wanted Taylor to win & was gonna crap my pants when Hopkins started turning it on.Comment

Dont agree with that at all. Those old bones can go at it for 12 rounds. He has fought the same identical fight plan for 10 yrs. Someone else finally watched his past fights and piled up the points on him while he was starting slow. Turned the tables on BH a bit.Originally posted by RecluseYou guys ever wonder why Bernard Hopkins got started so late? Are U ****in serious? He got his butt kicked. The first 6 rounds all he did better than Hopkins really was swing & miss. He was busier & that is how some choose to score but Hopkins was just sliiping his punches trying to tire him out. Taylor was tired in the "Championship" rounds & lost last four rounds of the fight. I believe strongly Hopkins won at least 2 of first eight if not more. Winning 2 of first 8 & last four rounds at least would make it a draw. Whats sad is that Hopkins is clearly underappreciated by many in boxing & that might have something to do with it. HBO was dying to knock off Hopkins & ask yourself if it was JLC vs DLH (JLC being Hopkins, DLH being Taylor) do you think the young De La Hoya would have got the decision over JLC? NO. How bout if Tyson fought this same fight against Buster Douglas? No. Hopkins is a top 5-10 middle of all-time & if can get this rematched soon I believe he will start earlier & win by clear decision or late stoppage. P.S. All you HOPKINS HATERS NEED TO SERIOUSLY STOP at 40 this guy fought a very strategical fight & by the end the 26 year old "bull" was dead tired & the "Aging" Hopkins was coming on strong. If this fight is in the 15 round era Taylor probably gets stopped. To say Hopkins is overrated is just plain ******! STOP HATING!!!!Originally posted by gdblstxWhat fight were you watching? Are you high......he got his butt kickicked in the first 5 rounds. And then won the last few. You need to dominate, not just show up.Comment

lol
No such thing as a close fight and a robbery at the same time. This thread should be over. This is like arguing Mayorga-Forrest II. No damn point. It was close, stop whining. If you wanna *****, ***** about something like Byrd-Oquendo.
Hopkins does not have the energy to battle 12 rounds like he did the last 4 rounds of the fight. This is why he will not win a rematch in my opinion. Taylor did enough to win this fight. Hopkins did more damage late, but that means nothing if it doesn't total to MORE ROUNDS WON. And it doesn't.Comment

am a hopkins supporter, sorry, did not want to see him lose. But he got lit up for 5 of the 1st 6 rounds. End of story. All the posts on here agree with that. Read them. Hell evryone here seems to think that all you need to do is hang around till the 10th - 12 rds, win those, and with your past championship history walk out with the Belt. I see your one of those too.Comment

I agree that Hopkins deserved to win. He lost 4 of the first six rounds but bascially shut Taylor out the last half of the fight. Taylor threw at least 200 more punches than Hopkins, but Hopkins still outlanded him, and also BY FAR landed the hardest shots of the night. It's an unfortunate situation.Comment
