Team Paul Williams: "Kelly Pavlik Did The Correct Thing"

I actually like Williams more but posters like you who take other people's posts personally and instantly start making smart ass remarks that add nothing to the debate tend to disgust me.

All I did was suggest that Pavlik is not physically afraid of Paul Williams and that he did the best thing for his career considering Williams was not willing to wait the short period Pavlik asked for.

Turns out about 15 people think I insulted their mothers and had to make some dumb**** retort that didn't really discredit any of my points.

What the *** was Kelly thinking pulling this ****? It doesn't matter if it is totally legit it looks ***n terrible and his credibility is going to come under serious attack now. If he didn't feel he was right to go into a tough fight against WIlliams he should have just waited a bit longer.

When George Peterson surfed the internet on Monday night, he was stunned to learn that WBO/WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik was scheduled to fight in Youngstown on December 19 against Miguel Espino. Pavlik had been scheduled to fight Paul Williams on October 3. Pavlik was plagued by a staph infection in his left hand; forcing him to withdraw from the fight. The event was pushed to December 5. The staph infection continued to affect Pavlik’s ability to train. He was unable to make a fist with the left hand, and withdrew from the fight for a second time. damm its a shame the fight is not going trough something most be wrong whit pavlik or could be that arum is getting afraid that 2 of their bigest fighters might get beaten badly

I'm just gonna give Pavlik the benefit of the doubt because he always took the tough fights coming up and went out of his way to please fans by fighting Hopkins.

Plenty of other fighters have never taken a tough fight and have pulled out of other fights on top of it and Pavlik has always earned his shots the hard way.

If he doesn't make a concentrated effort to fight Williams next I will be very disappointed but I truly believe he is more disappointed about the current situation than boxing fans are.

To think that Pavlik is happy and relieved to avoid Williams to fight off HBO for probably 20% of the purse and have the boxing community **** all over him is just ridiculous.

Yeah I think I'm at the same place for now. The one thing I do agree with you on is that there is no way that Pavlik is scared of Paul. The man is tough as nails and as you say he fought plenty of tough guys coming up.

Still, its frustrating, I keep waiting for Kelly to take on a top opponent and it just doesn't happen. I thought this guy was going to go and rule 160 with an iron fist after the Hopkins loss and it hasn't happened.

However, he is still young and has time. Lets hope he gets over his health injuries and gets back to beating the top guys out there.

Pavlik has eyes and a brain. He knows what Paul can do fighters like him. Pavlik isn't ready for Paul Williams. He never will be.

And I don't know what the **** to think about Pavlik now. I really want to be a fan, but he's making it awfully ****ing hard.

people are taking this most avoided fighter **** too seriously. does anyone really think pavlik is afraid to fight williams? i think pavlik is taking this new fight of his as a tuneup to see if his hand is better. why would he fight a top continder with a messed up hand.

No longer a fan of Pavlik after all of this. He'll have to beat Williams to earn respect.
