Two guys who didn’t win convincingly in their big fights more often than not

    tough fight to call

probably rematch or trilogy with the judges favoring Alvarez

It ruined his legacy on a ATG/P4P/Prime scale, you know rankings and whatnot.

Career, experience and cash wise, he's done exceptionally well for himself, rather impressive actually for his age compared to others.

Oscar at 154, possibly Canelo at 160 but it's close.

Oscar ****** at 154 and above. Especially when he was hitting the coke hard.

In a mythical P4P matchup, where they’re both at their best, Oscar beats him sure. But a 154 pound Oscar that lost all his big fights or even the Oscar that beat Vargas, Canelo beats him bad.

and Canelo would’ve mauled Vargas too, he would’ve beat him worse than Trinidad.

            Again..at what weight?

Yeah prime lightweight Oscar beats 15 old Canelo .

But at 168 Canelo beats every version of Oscar.

Some might say so, but I would disagree. Virtually none of the consensus ATGs in this sport finished their careers without a loss. A loss to one of the very best to ever do it is no real blemish. Too many fighters today are labeled great having never fought a great fighter. Sharing the ring with Mayweather, even in defeat, is a plus for Canelo's all-time ranking.

oscar ****** at 160 but he was very good at 154 during his prime. he beat castallejo, vargas, and mosley in the rematch(robbery) all those guys were top 5 fighters.

he looked so terrible that its hard to say its a plus. i know he was completely drained so the fight doesnt really count for much for either guy, but it certainly cant be seen as a positive for canelo. if he had lost a close fight maybe but he didnt.

I do agree that GGG became obsessed with beating Canelo and allowed himself to get strung along during a part of his career where he could have had other important legacy fights, but it is what it is. I regard GGG as one of the very top fighters of his generation. He should have two wins over the former P4P #1 guy in the sport, and he absolutely leveled every other MW contender that was in his way as he broke the record for MW defenses. He didn't fight bums, but rather the best the were available. Like a true elite champion, he blitzed them all. It was only in his final years that that GGG showed slippage, against other top shelf fighters (Deryvyanchenko, Canelo). In my view, when evaluating careers, its always important to note which elite opponents of his era a fighter faced, then second, which elite fighters of his era he did not face. We know his opponents faced, but which elite fighters (in his weight class) did GGG not face?

Castillejo was a euro bum, Vargas was ruined by Tito and china chinned, and Mosley was always a PED cheating bum who should’ve had all his wins wiped out .

and like I said post 2000 Oscar was heavy on coke that he wouldn’t have beaten Canelo.
