Another way to look at Ngannou is that, as an MMA fighter he is one dimensional, he basically has punching power and athlete ism, but he had enough of that to dominate far better rounded MMA fighters who were experts at wrestling and BJ's and the other stuff.

Well considering punching power and athleticism took Deontay Wilder to 10 WBC title defences, it's not that shocking Ngannou did pretty well.

Apples to oranges really. A boxer will always have a punchers chance in MMA but you wont see someone coming in and going the distance with an MMA guy and being competitive with them the way Ngannou was with Fury or even to the extent Conor was with Floyd. Hence why in Rays other MMA fight he got stopped in the first round by friggin Kimbo, and he went 0-2 in kickboxing as well.

Also Tim ****** tbh. He was stopped in 36 seconds right before the Mercer fight. He was champ during a terrible HW era for the UFC, and lost his belt to a much smaller 44 year old who was coming up from a lower weight class after losing three of his last five fights.

Lol, twisting an MMA fighter beating up the HW champ into that MMA fighter actually being a boxer who went and dominated MMA. Gotta love it.

there's no way a boxer would walk into UFC and go the distance. both fighters in their prime.

there is no puncher's chance against a low single.

However, we know for a fact a UFC guy walked into boxing and mauled the heavyweight boxing champ. this is a fact.

Fury has a glass jaw. He's been dropped like a 100 times before and by former cw's. Also he has no pop. He's in the weakest era of hw's.

Depends on the UFC fighter and depends on the boxer.

As I said before Ngannou went all the way to the heavyweight title with little to no ground game. Adesanya has won numerous title fights with nothing but punches and the odd shin kick.

Now if you put an old, flat footed, shot James Toney in with a wrestling expert like Coture then no the boxer isn't going the distance.

But if you put a mobile power puncher with footspeed in with a UFC fighter who doesn't have a ground game background then yeah he would have a good chance.

Amanda Nunes beat the **** out of rousey with nothing but punches, MMA is very rock paper scissors when it comes to styles, there are MMA fighters I think top boxers could beat or at least give problems.

Ngannou had been fighting in MMA professionally for almost a decade when he won the title. Lost his first title shot largely due to his lack of wrestling skills, and used wrestling to win his last MMA fight. The evidence of his grappling ability could be seen in how Fury couldnt **** with him in the clinch too.

Adesanya was 7 years into his pro MMA career, and came from kickboxing meaning he had more MMA tools to begin with than a boxer does. Also just checking from the stats for his fights, in his title win over Gastelum for instance he had to defend against 9 takedowns, and 23 of his 119 landed strikes were kicks.

No "pure" boxer has anything more than a punchers chance against any MMA fighter good enough to be in say the top 10 or so promotions, they're just too one dimensional. Now if we are talking a boxer who also has a background in other stuff, or a boxer who takes some time to train for MMA? i'm sure plenty could cross over successfully.

Thats underselling him a little. He started training boxing around 2017/18. Add to that him being a juiced up athletic kid in his prime and that he gets to cherry pick his opponents and its hardly that shocking. Obviously the same could be done the other way round too ie some brat beating smaller 40 year old boxers in MMA.

Swallowing MMGai Whole WAS his amateur career.
Now he's doing Big boy boxing and making big boy money, like all amateurs aspire to do.

                      And he's great!!

....unless there's some Muay Thai, Karate, Jujitsu, Judo or Freestyle background that never made it into his Bio.
He has more wins in kickboxing than in boxing, this whole he is a boxer in MM1 is bullcrap, his style is kickboxing, dude even has submissions, it's kinda pathetic what you're doing makes boxing look like a chump sport, Ngannou already did.
