Wiil Usyk drop a belt to avoid Hrgovic?

It was a reasonable counter offer that Fury and Warren ignored and did not come back with a counter offer. F&W could have said ok to 70/30 but no to the donation. That's the way business negotiations work, but F& Bricktop dropped all talks and went away. In other words, a clear Fury duck.
I watched a couple episodes of the Fury family shows and it's obvious that 1) he is delusional calling himself the "undisputed " HW champ when plenty see him as "disputed" and 2) that his wife has her head on straight and he has his head up his bum.Comment

I doubt Usyk will avoid Hrgovic. The Croatian has flaws in his performances, but can be dangerous, especially if he works over them (so far he doesn't seem to do so). And I don't see the governing bodies delaying their mandatory defenses again because of the unification.
Hrgovic can use the unquestionable weakness of Usyk - the body. Usyk is probably that impudent and shameless to never stop pretending for low blows, but I don't think it will work a third consecutive time for him. True, I rather see Usyk winning by UD, but I also see some big chance for him being knocked out.
As for who failed the negotiations - both sides.Last edited by N/A; 09-03-2023, 01:20 PM.Comment

Nobody here can possibly know what the promoters determine to be "A" and "B" side... Fury is the bigger draw, bottom line, we KNOW that and no hyperbole can take away an objective fact. Does this mean the split should be 60/40?, 70/30?, 50/50? Who knows!!
The split should be 50-50 regardless of where the fight is held. Not every fight has an A-side. This isn't a Tyson Fury fight, it's a fight to crown the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and Usyk is every bit as important to the equation as Fury. Not to mention he holds three of the four belts. The only fair split is 50-50, whether in Saudi Arabia, Wembley Stadium or Timbuktu.
You agree it should have been a 50-50 split in Saudi, yet it's entirely Fury's fault the fight didn't happen there. So what, Usyk should be expected to take a 40% split of a much smaller pot all because of Fury being an arse? And if he doesn't then he is equally as culpable in not making the fight? Can't you see how ridiculous that is?
How is 60/40 to the winner not operating in good faith? It's a fair compromise to Fury demanding a larger percentage of the split. If he wins he gets it. Or what then, you think that anything less than Usyk bending over and accepting a 40% split (or worse) outright is him not operating in good faith to make the fight?
Bottom line, if Fury wanted this fight to happen it would have.
I don't know what it is... But you take a poster who uses common sense to make a statement about the fight, with no obvious agenda, with now words stating that there is a "good" a "bad" and everyone wants to pretend that they know the negotiations for this fight. Usyk may have wanted an out for the time being, who knows? the donation is a way to do this (nobody would have accepted such a proposal), or, maybe Usyk had to satisfy some obligation to his country?
Fury has seemed to be inactive lately and he took a clown fight... Maybe Fury figured he has the Usyk fight in the bag, and he could take a quick one before? Little risk here for Fury, it stands to reason.
When viewers start to make assumptions not based on actual actions by the two contract participants it gets plain silly. Also I would like to say, I am on record as having a hate for the likes of Satanic Bob, Lemon Pledge smelling Eddy Hearn, etc... They have created a chilling environment where big fights do not get made... Floyd never made much of anything til he left Satanic Bob. BUT, was it any better when King was ripping fighters off horribly, despite great fight cards?
We are in an era when fighters are not taking risks, not fighting the young lions coming up, avoiding each other... I do not think the fighters are too blame as much as the people that promote the fights... Fury and Usyk defer judgement to a team of negotiators. Saudi Money is the new game in town, and there is never a rush...

They didn't ignore it, they accepted it. I say "accepted" as the same way Usyk "accepted" 70/30. They accepted it in the media and not in reality.

Frank Warren said on Talksport that the £1million donation to Ukraine had been accepted by them.
So you're wrong in what you're saying, that isn't what happened.
This is another prime example of Fury being pulled up for his games and Usyk's being ignored. How are we going to actually consider that as reasonable and not an obvious media ploy? "I want 50-50, but, I'll accept 70-30, if you donate 1 million to Ukraine"
Oh yeah, definitely "operating in good faith" there

I have deferred judgement on your nonsense, pretending to imagine Usyk fearing the stiff Croat, out of respect for Juggernaut666. I will continue to do so but will just say as diplomatically as possible:
It is ridiculous to imagine fear/cowardice as motivating either man. IF they fight, I would be very suprised if Usyk could not avoid the stiff croat all night long. I am always ready to admit an error in judgement. If the fight happens and the stiff croat does well I will gladly eat an extra large helping of crow.
Juggernaut666 did make the point that Usyk is not getting younger and has been moving a lot to avoid the big heavyweights... He also did show a weakness... Not even the contraversal call, one could still see that some of the body shots hurt him. If Usyk gets old, loses or cannot be as mobile, it is possible! So this analysis does make sense...Comment

Frank Warren is a liar and Fury is bipolar. Sure, they accepted the offer.

A big part of the Usyk fanbase considers this man nearly a saint and a noble knight, apart from having full-skill assets on a top level and not lacking anything. It's ridiculous and pathetic. It is impossible to even reasonably question anything about him, nor criticize.Comment

Thank you for deferring judgement. What will you say when Usyk ducks him or fights him and loses? Usyk has not avoided big heavies recently. AJ and Dubois are both 6'5" tall and 230+ pounds. He would be foolish to stand toe to toe with them.
Now I told you watch Hrgovic work out on the speed bag, or jump rope. He is not stiff. The man has some flexibility in him. And he moves his feet and hands very well.
No big man is going to look as smooth as say Mayweather was. The stiff business is a media talking point only used by his detractors. The crow will be waiting...Last edited by Dr. Z; 09-03-2023, 05:38 PM.Comment
