  • "Hes a good fighter" - incorrect, he is a GREAT fighter. The Mosley/Cotto fight was close, it was not anything that Mosely should be ashamed of. This article makes it seem like Mosley is just out of his league when naming the other top WWs and that is absolutely not the case. I believe that a rematch between Cotto and Mosley would be very interesting and to be honest, I am not so sure that the same fighter would have his hand raised at the end of the night.

Mosley also presents a tough style for Mayweather and Pacman (should he decide to continue fighting at WW). This article is biased and ****** with undertones of Mosley-hate. Give Mosley the respect he deserves. Yes, he has recently been on the sidelines watching big fights being made between big names - with the exception of his, and he is rightfully angry at that.

To the writer of this article, I ask you to see the situation from Mosley's perspective. He fought and beat the No.1 WW. Not only did he beat him, he made him look like a novice then knocked him out silly. That alone is worth some recognition and reward. The fight with Cotto was close, and one must admit that there was truly no loser on that night. When he fights and beats Clottey, the critics will praise him and I hope that he gets a fight with one of the other top WWs... I predict that Mosley is going to abuse Clottey and possibly stop him.

    • No true boxing fan wants Shane to go after his last didplay. Maybe some boxing hack trying to justify his over inflated wages?

The multi-division champion has long been one of my favorites, both for obvious skill in the ring and affable demeanor outside it.

He's a good fighter, and more importantly in the long run, a good guy.

But the constant rant that he's the No. 1 welterweight in the world and the accompanying whine that every fighter within 10 pounds seems to be avoiding him is getting old.

To counter his claims, I'll prevent a few facts.

In late 2007, after beating the not-quite-Murderers Row of David Estrada, Jose Luis Cruz, Fernando Vargas and Luis Collazo, he made a grab for the WBA welterweight crown then held by Miguel Cotto.

        And lost. Decisively.

Not on a robbery. Not on a verdict that prompted protest. But unanimously in the eyes of the judges, who gave Cotto 21 of a possible 36 rounds across three scorecards, with one round even. [details]
This is what me and many other people have been thinking for quite sometime!!

Mosley is being a hater......but he will need to wait his turn

them in different divisions (Even though belts are

          Mosley wins next time.
Grust, take a REAL good look at Shane's resume next to Cotto's. It's not the disparity you currently think it is.

Set aside the Oscar win for a moment. Now please consider what Shane has really accomplished. Imagine what you would have said if Mayweather fought a completely shot Vargas TWICE. And then Mayorga.

Instead he remained inactive complaining about not getting fights & getting older. He completely killed all the momentum he had with that margarito victory & might have killed any semblance of a fanbase or the little notoriety he had to begin with.

He was so busy trying to get boxing rich fast by playing the pacquiao mr.counterfeit cash lotto instead of working for his money like a blue collar boxing professional.

                Horrible career decision.
Pac & Mosley will never fight...lol..Mosley is insane

If there's a reason to blame “Money” for taking that path, I'd love to hear it. [details]
Marquez is the consensus #2 P4P, but he's not even in the consensus top 100 at Welterweight. Just because someone is rated highly in the P4P lists doesn't necessarily make them a credible opponent in higher weight divisions. Hopkins is rated #3 P4P - do you think BHop and JMM should square off just because they're both rated in the top 3 in the P4P lists? When Calderon was in the P4P top 10, do you think he'd have been a credible opponent for Hopkins?

The obsession with the P4P lists is getting utterly ridiculous.

Marquez was physically dominated at Lightweight, and looked slower than he had looked at Super Featherweight: he was only able to win at Lightweight because of his exceptional skills. He's still a natural Super Featherweight. He is not a credible opponent for a Welterweight, other than purely in the context of it being a tune-up for Floyd. Everyone has a maximum peak weight, no one can gain weight indefinitely without losing power or speed or relative strength; and Marquez's maximum peak weight just happens to be 130lb.

                  • Cotto beat Mosley. Cotto beat Clottey. Mosley beat Margarito and "should" beat Clottey. If Cotto beats Pacman and Mosley is still around then this can be solved by a rematch.

He was offered a rematch with Cotto, but turned it down because he didn't want to fight in New York. Then he was offered a fight with Williams for good money but turned it down because "it would be a bad style match-up" and "Williams is too tall". Then he was offered a match with Berto but turned it down because he wanted a bigger fight. Those fights could have been held in June or July but he turned all of them down. Now he's finally fighting Clottey, which is great, but not until December. He's wasted 9 months when he could have had a good fight - and the rematch with Cotto that he turned down would have been great for boxing because it would have created a new lineal and Ring Welterweight champion. So his anger should be directed at himself.

To be angry at Pac for wanting to fight Cotto is ridiculous. Cotto has more fans than Mosley does, that's just a fact of life; and the style match-up makes Cotto-Pac a more fan-friendly fight than Pac-Mosley. But Mosley has turned down plenty of chances to make other good fights, including a rematch with Cotto.
