Areola was fighting relevant guys though , and no Areola threw more punches against Kownacki. It’s not a weak division because those guys aren’t top ten if you like I’d go through with the past eras who lost and give you an actual history lesson why it wasn’t a weak division such as Young defeated Foreman etc .....which was laughable in their time so imagine that he defeated AJ ? You’d have a parade . You are becoming a cancer to the forum and as suspected luckily I’m here to show posters that .
Why won't Dillian Shyte fight Luis Ortiz?

Povetkin's a former champion and an Olympic gold medalist. He's had a better career than Ortiz, amateur and professional.
Thank You!! Someone else who gets it... Sweet Jesus you would think we were talking about the seventies, and some guy was calling out Ali and avoiding Norton, Shavers, Young, etc lol... People have this ridiculous notion that workman like fighters are superior to the guys Ortiz fought... its laughable. I like guys like Chisora, Whyte, Povatkin, Kubrec, but they are not any jump up from other workman like fighters in the division... Ortiz fought well against Wilder the second time, no shame, did as well as an guy not named Fury...Comment

You have no credability... and this post? It makes no sense... didn't mean to trigger you snowflake... You cant even keep things straight on one fight and your going to go historical? Not a good idea redumber. Try to take baby steps... Again, this post is gibberish, slow down and express one cogent thought at a time... Lol. You the laughing stock showing posters what?

And? Look, all the love and flowers to any poster that wants to split hairs and argue that gatekeeper A had a better career than gatekeeper B. Great. A weak division with average workmanlike fighters is just that and nothing more. Ortiz beat all in front of him like a lot of other gate keepers, he lost to one of the top dogs... I think its ridiculous to argue that fighters that would get decimated in any strong division are even marginally better than a guy who did what a lot of them did but if thats what you believe be my guest.Comment

As opposed to what who? aside from Fury, AJ and Wilder accomplished? See people really hate on Ortiz lol... And how do we know how good he is compared to other fighters who lost to the same fighters, if he never fought them? Illogical and silly.Stepping up and giving a good account of yourself is overrated.
Ortiz stepped up twice, put up a good showing, and got knocked out twice.
And his best win is against a guy who stepped up and gave a good account of himself against Klitschko... but lost.
Losing efforts prove nothing. Ortiz has no resume.
It's not athletics. You don't record a good time when you come second in boxing.Comment

Then people need to stop giving Whyte credit for having Joshua & Povetkin on his resume.Stepping up and giving a good account of yourself is overrated.

Had Ortiz beat Wilder, his resume would be better but he didn't. He got KO'd twice. Both Whyte and Ortiz got KO'd by guys considered to be at the top (Wilder and AJ).
If spirited defeats mean so much then I guess Wallin should be on par with Ortiz since he gave Fury a competitive fight.
As for Jennings, his one and only decent win...we rate him based off of going the distance with Klitschko and winning a few rounds. Jennings top wins were cruiserweight Mike Perez, Spilzka, and Fedesov.
If Whyte's resume is filled with gatekeeper guys (B/C level) then Ortiz resume is filled with dudes that gatekeepers pad their own record with (C/D level).
Whyte's ducking Ortiz by fighting Povetkin. Meanwhile Ortiz making waves by fighting Alexander Flores in his 34th fight.
Why are we leaving out a 40yr old, washed up Povetkin absolutely flattening Whyte also?
Whytes top wins have even worse resumes than Jennings probably all but Povetkin unless we're pretending someone like Parker actually beat Ruiz and Chisora.
None of their resumes are impressive to tell the truth, they all suck.
I just see them all at or around the same level really. Povetkin in his prime a level above them but a 40 odd yr old that had been dragged off his deathbed? Not so much.Comment

The state of Povetkin in that fight. That fight should have never been sanctioned, the guy could barely even walk ffs
I think absolutely anyone at HW that could remotely fight a little would have beaten Povetkin that night.
Nobody gives credit for beating Ali at the end of his career when he shouldn't have been fighting and Whyte shouldn't get credit for beating Povetkin either. I never seen a fighter look so gravely ill in my life. That man shouldn't have been anywhere but in bed resting up.Comment

I won't tell you that I think Whyte is anything impressive. I'm not a Whyte fan in the least bit. His resume has alot of asterisk: Parker (headbutt KD), Chisora (preferential scoring first fight, preferential reffing in second), Rivas (PED and gloves), Povetkin (covid).

However Whyte has shown a willingness to get in the ring against guys who pose a threat to beat him. I give him that much.
I can't even give Ortiz that. I'm supposed to believe the guy who looked atrocious against David Allen, Malik Scott and Christian Hammer is the same guy that everyone is afraid to get in the ring with?
I jumped in this fray not to defend Whyte but because I think it's laughable to think that anyone is ducking King Kong Ortiz.
