Although i understand Cotto's point of view, but he and you guys should also understand that there is no point of Manny fighting Cotto without the title. Give me any other reason why Manny should fight Cotto other than for the belt. There isn't any. Manny doesn't need Cotto. I don't think Cotto needs Manny either, but he won't get a bigger payday with anyone else right now.

If it was in the contract then it would be cool BUT to already
agree to something and then forcefully try to change it is a
lil over the top. Cotto is just doing what a person is supposed
to do when he is feeling like he is getting the short end of the
stick or shafted.

I think that's the whole main problem, i don't think they really had finalized the deal yet, and Arum prematurely announced the fight right away. I'm almost sure Manny and his camp did not agree for a non-title fight, because again, there is no point and there's nothing for Manny to gain without the title.

I do understand but if Pac wants to challenge for the WW title he should let the other guy come at the limit. If he wins without question he will be one of the biggest and greatest fighter of our era and we can witness that. Making the other guy come on a catch weight(I know is to keep things more or less even) will put an asterik on the win(if he wins).

The compromise of the weight is to pair these great fighters so the fight can happen, not for the title which is meaningless at this point (the fight between these two guys is the attraction not the title). Chavez fought Withaker for the WW belt. Withaker 147 lb and Chavez came at 142 (also look at Henry Armstrong history).

Catchweight has been around for a long time. And Fighters have been fighting for titles at Catchweight throughout the years. What Cotto and Manny are doing is in no way beyond history. Its been done before Its not uncommon for a fighter to challenge a bigger fighter in a a higher weight class for his title at a agreed upon weight in an higher class! Id like to see Cotto Man up and say **** the title and fight . Not this crybaby bull **** he is doing now. If you can beat Manny the title aint gonna matter. Fight goddamn it...I would give Cotto all respect and wouldnt be ragging on him as much.

best fight in Boxing for Pac next to Floyd? IF Pacquiao is so
much worried about a title why wouldn't he fight Shane Mosley
for his? Mosley is begging for the fight and is willing to put
his title up to Pac and give him every advantage in the book?
I don't buy it. They think Cotto is a push over. I noticed that
Arum has went to bat for Margarito and Pac but I haven't
seen it for Cotto and Cotto fights his heart out for Top Rank.

Ill be happy to strighten this out for you. 141-147 is witin the WW limit. A Catchweight is smiply an agreement from both fighters to keep either one from having an advantage to agree on a weight within the WW limits as a limit that cannot exceed agreed weight.
If the two can agree on the weight limit there should be know arguement on weather or not a title can be at stake because the fight is taking place in the legal limits of the Wealterweight division.

If none of you can understand this logic, then don't bother understanding and no one else should bother explaining. If Cotto already agreed to 145lbs, then it shouldn't really matter whether the belt is on the line or not, unless he wants more money. If that is the case which is reasonable BTW, then just say so. If the 2lbs gives Cotto such a huge advantage, then he shouldn't have agreed to 145lbs in the first place, regardless of the belt being on the line or not.

Then Bob Arum is not that good at what he is doing or he basically
is thinking more about this fight lining his pockets then his actual
fighters. Why wouldn't it be specified from the start that Pacquiao
wants this to be a title fight? It sounds to me like they waited till
everything was a go and then through this in to get Cotto to agree
because the fight is next to a done deal and he wouldn't back out.
Sometimes with contracts, negotiations and tactics can get tricky.

Certainly and i completely agree with you. Cotto is the biggest draw other than Mayweather. But that's not what Manny and his camp wants and needs. They need that 7th title badly. IMO, they're getting ridiculous about it. I have no idea why they turned down Mosley, you would think it would make more sense. But i think Arum is just being business minded and smart about this. With Cotto and Manny being under him, he has nothing to worry about (so he thought and he was wrong), with Mosley under Golden Boy, it would have been a pain in the ass, besides the fact that he has to share revenues.
