but i do somewhat agree with you pac man fans. it is within the limit, in the history books though i do think there should be an * next to it ife manny does win, because boxing has such a history and cathweights only started for big money fights, like back in the day when carmen basilio fought ray robinson for his middleweight title, carmen weighed like 153 and robinson weighed in at the limit. *** i do agree with you guys to an extent but i would give a lot more props to manny if he dropped the limit, and manny is my favorite fighter on the planet. either way , cant wait for the fight.

If it was in the contract then it would be cool BUT to already
agree to something and then forcefully try to change it is a
lil over the top. Cotto is just doing what a person is supposed
to do when he is feeling like he is getting the short end of the

Pacman should have dump Cotto and fight Mosley instead, if Cotto wants to play hardball about to fight for the title against Pacman. Let's see what he gonna say if Pacman call the fight off

Manny Pacquiao said a long time ago specifically after Mosley
beat up on Margarito that he wasn't interested in fighting Shane.
It's weird because Manny was considering fighting Margarito at
one time but not Mosley who is naturally smaller than Margarito?
I don't think it is about Mosley being a lesser draw because Mosley
did everything to try to make a fight with him attractive and Manny
and company didn't want it. Which fight/win would have been more
legacy fulfilling? I think Mosley would have helped Pac more than
Cotto because Mosley is the WBA Welter Weight champion and #1
in the division who just came off of a devastating KO of the one
man to hand Cotto is first loss. Instead they pick Cotto who
struggled against Clottey and who doesn't want to put his title
up? They wants none of Mosley.

Let's see. after losing to margarito, he was able to fight for another title against the almighty michael jennings.

at 140, he didnt wanna fight floyd, kostya, gatti, and harris. (all title holders) Instead he was able to snatch up a world title belt against HOF Kelson Pinto.

After his war with hard hitting Paulie Malinaggi, cotto moved up to another weight class and fight for a world title. Not against Margarito, Floyd, or Cintron... NO he didnt fight any of those fighters because they have a title. Cotto fought another vacant title against one hit wonder carlos quintana.


So tell me anybody from this thread who else in boxing today benefited more from these corrupt organization besides cotto

At the end of the dat Cotto will acept everything as you all said this is the Cottos biggest payday. But why Pac dont fight Mosley he agree to fight him at 140 and he is the WW "undisputed champ"?????Because of the money Sugar agree but 60 to 40 %. So Pac got more options but at the end of the day you look at the boxers last performences and who look the worst???

Ill be happy to strighten this out for you. 141-147 is witin the WW limit. A Catchweight is smiply an agreement from both fighters to keep either one from having an advantage to agree on a weight within the WW limits as a limit that cannot exceed agreed weight.
If the two can agree on the weight limit there should be know arguement on weather or not a title can be at stake because the fight is taking place in the legal limits of the Wealterweight division.

I do understand but if Pac wants to challenge for the WW title he should let the other guy come at the limit. If he wins without question he will be one of the biggest and greatest fighter of our era and we can witness that. Making the other guy come on a catch weight(I know is to keep things more or less even) will put an asterik on the win(if he wins).

The compromise of the weight is to pair these great fighters so the fight can happen, not for the title which is meaningless at this point (the fight between these two guys is the attraction not the title). Chavez fought Withaker for the WW belt. Withaker 147 lb and Chavez came at 142 (also look at Henry Armstrong history).

cotto has one of the best resumes out there. there is no freakin way he should be fighting for a 65-35 split to a fighter that has beaten average,overrated,wear and tear,weight drained fighters.thats what pac has done.this is an insult.

by this logic the fight could be at a catchweight of 141 and the WW title would be on the line. yes 145 is considered WW. if both fighters agree for the title to be on the line then so be it but its wrong to try and force a fighter to defend his title at a catchweight.

Hey man, I have to say, you shed some light on Cotto's legacy
and this was what I have been saying for the longest. I agree
with you in regards to Cotto's title vacancy pimping BUT Manny
and them do need to be stopped though. Roach/Manny/Arum
bring the most drama in the whole sport of Boxing about the
lil'est ****. Cotto had some easy title opportunities but he has
been fighting some tough guys at 147 so at least Pac and them
can cut him some slack. Pac is good enough to fight him at 147
I would think. He fought Oscar there so why not Cotto? It only
says that their not confident in Pac's chances to beat Cotto.
