If im not mistaken that guy only had i think One catchweight fight and he was the one amending the weight, i cant remember exactly. But his titles werent won in the same way pac won his. Armstrong didint just handpick certain beltholders whos styles would be best suited for him to conquer, he fought and CLEARED OUT entire divisions. Or took on the best from those divisions.

Honestly, floyd, pac and everyone else shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as armstrong. You guys throw out his name mostly because HBO mentioned it, but right now, pac would need about 4 or 5 more fights against the top contenders from 140 and 147 to be mentioned in the same breath, not just guys who dont pose a stylistic problem.

Pacquiao fought the best fighters (or world champions) in each weight class, even Hatton was the best at light-welterweight, and only now is he campaigning at welterweight after the exhibition w/ dela Hoya. He doesn`t have to fight or clean out more than 50 fighters in each division, right?

Sasakul was the best flyweight. Ledwaba was the best bantamweight, Marquez was the best superfeatherweight. Hatton might be over rated but he was the best junior welterweight. All of them lineal champion when Pacquiao took their belt from them. Its not Pacquiao's falt if their style is perfect for him. He fought Marquez eventhough his style is the ******nite to his style. Its not handpicking when you're fighting a bigger boxer

Ill let your comment pass seeing as you obviously lack the mental aptitude to wrap your head around what I was arguing. We may all want the fight at 147 but if Cotto contractually agrees to come in at 145 what exactly is prohibiting the fight being for the WW belt? You can argue till you turn red that Pac is trying to gain an advantage (duh?! really??) but its still a WW fight because if is below the maximum weight. Once you accept that, then you might as well make it for the belt. Take a few deep breaths and think before you write.

granted this is technically a WELTERWEIGHT FIGHT but i dont like the idea of staking titles when the fighters dont have the luxury of coming in at the limit of that weight division...(except heavyweight obviously since there is no limit).

i think it puts cotto at a slight disadvantage and isnt fair to the other top fighters at welter (like mosley, clottey, berto; etc.) who have put in the work at that weight.

seems like pacman is just getting a very nice deal in his favor...at a lower weight than the limit of 147...getting possibly bumped up to no. 1 contender without ever fighting any of the guys he's passing up in the rankings and possibly in position to win a title.

just seems a bit unfair. i also assume hes getting more money than cotto?

did you know that WW is anything between 147 lbs and 141 lbs? that means the title is on the line depending on whether negotiations for it go through.

WW is from 141 to 147lbs. But if they maximize their weight to 145 then the WW belt shouldnt be on the line because the belt is until 147lbs! How can be this possible???

Putting some thought into it would be too much for some people. A 145-pound Cotto is not weight drained when he just made 146 2 weeks ago.

The belt will be at stake, Manny will make more and Cotto will win. Everybody's happy!
