But i don't think haters can comprehend, they don't care if everyone else have done it before, all they care is about is discrediting PAC!
Cotto will already outweigh PAC by 10+ come fight day what more can you ask for!

Let me be clear that its not always about discrediting Pac. Be objective man. It seems a lot of people just want Pac to fight with a 147 weight limit. Thats all.

If im not mistaken that guy only had i think One catchweight fight and he was the one amending the weight, i cant remember exactly. But his titles werent won in the same way pac won his. Armstrong didint just handpick certain beltholders whos styles would be best suited for him to conquer, he fought and CLEARED OUT entire divisions. Or took on the best from those divisions.

Honestly, floyd, pac and everyone else shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as armstrong. You guys throw out his name mostly because HBO mentioned it, but right now, pac would need about 4 or 5 more fights against the top contenders from 140 and 147 to be mentioned in the same breath, not just guys who dont pose a stylistic problem.

De La Hoya got a little criticism for the 158 catchweight, but not very much. Most people figured Hopkins would kick his ass anyway so not too many people really cared about those 2 lbs or thought it'd matter at all.

Leonard got a lot of criticism for the Lalonde fight, but I don't know about the Hearns rematch being at 163. People were probably more disappointed at the time with Leonard fighting these guys with all the talent at 160 at the time (Nunn, Kalambay, McCallum).

I don't know about people caring much about Whitaker and Chavez being @ 145. Hell, I didn't even know it was at a catchweight until I saw an ESPN replay of it a few years later.

There are no haters writing in this thread. I love Pacquiao as a fighter, and I loved De La Hoya as a fighter, and Chavez, and Leonard; but I criticised all those fights being title fights at the time, and so did many others. To me, and to many other people, if you fight for a world title, you're saying you want to be regarded as the best fighter in the world at that weight. If you say you're the best fighter in the world at the weight, but only provided that your opponent agrees to a lower maximum weight than normal, then that's bull****, IMO.

And many, many Pinoy fans have said in these forums that they wish Pac would agree to the fight being at the normal maximum weight limit rather than at catchweight, for the sake of his legacy. Do you consider all those Pinoy fans to be haters as well?

And I've also said repeatedly that Pac will deserve full credit for beating Cotto if he manages to win. It's only the title being on the line that I don't like, not the fight itself.

Thats because Leonard basically won that title against lalonde without fighting at that weight, and Lalonde couldnt even come in over a certain amount and was drained. it was shameful.

Someone a couple weeks ago tried to use chavez whitaker but the difference was that for one, chavez never got over 145, even against de la hoya at 147, he said it himself if hes in shape, he just cant get that high. As well as both guys basically coming up from lightweight in the first place. Its also why i think hatton/mayweather wasnt a big deal since hatton made it easier on himself fighting at 147 and rehydrating at 158, which he always does anyway, and mayweather gained maybe a pound. in some instances, it just doesnt matter.

Pacman is losing my respect more and more each day. Cotto and Mosley have already conceded the financial aspect of a potential bout. Now he wants to fight at a catch-weight of 145 lbs which Cotto already agreed to... But then, when you thought he was done demanding.... a championship belt too!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS!! This has to stop!! If you do this for Pac then any other fighter can't be denied of such demands in the future.. this can take a huge toll on BOXING. If Pac wants to be a WELTER WEIGHT champion!! then he needs to fight (or allow his opponent) to perform at the WW LIMIT!!! Obviously if you make Cotto smaller he won't be as strong and Pac will benefit. If I was Cotto I would improve my stance financially for the bout considering the fact that I now have to add things to the table like: My $, my weight, my belt, my lifesavings, real estate, cars, wife, kids.... Maybe they should also make Miguel fight with one hand behind his back too... THAT WOULD DO IT!!!! PERFECT!!! Obviously you're not so bright and doesn't know anything about boxing at all. It's not like this is the first time that a WW championship is being fought at 145ibs because Chavez Sr. and Whitaker did it before. Anything above 140 and below 147 is a welterweight fight right? And if its at 145 then it should be Cotto's advantage so what are you so worried about? He should be able to manhandle Pac at that weight since he's the bigger and the stronger guy.
