of course the WW belt of cotto should be at stake.
that's one item manny is aiming for, a 7th belt.
otherwise manny will not choose cotto, he will opt for mosley.

very understandable that wbo will put the belt on the line.
    number 1 contender??......privilege of the "P4P king"....
    sanction fee......mi amigos!!
    easily $150,000 !!

But then robinson, ali, armstrong and louis didn't start from 108 lbs. In DOMINATING the BEST of that weight makes you DOMINATE that weight. Pacquiao DOMINATED Ledwaba. What sense would it make to stay on that weight. When you know you will beat the rest. Who would beat you when you DOMINATED the best. Then he moved up to featherweight where the legends are(Barrera, Morales and Marquez) when he was a nobody. When they moved up in weight, he followed them. After beating them he moved up again. Hatton might be overrated but he was the best at JW. By DOMINATING Hatton he DOMINATED JW.
When Armstrong won his three lineal weights, he won them in a year. He didn't stayed on the first weight for a year.

Hatton was said to be the best at 140 but the truth is: He was not. Manny is far from dominating 140. He must beat the other champs at 140 before you can say he dominated JW

It is amazing how many people are on here talking like it should be for the welterweight title when they have no clue of what it is to fight for the title. Last time I checked there was no belt for 144 or 145 lbs.
so when cotto came in at 146 in his clottey fight its not a welterweight fight? your an idiot.

Title fights have been at catchweights.

Hopkins-De La Hoya was for 4 middleweight titles and the contracted weight was 158.

Leonard-Hearns 2 was for the super middleweight title and the contracted weight was 163.

Leonard-Lalonde was for both the super middleweight title and light heavyweight title and the contracted weight was 168.

Whitaker-Chavez was for the WBC welterweight title and fought at a catchweight of 145.

This is only recent history, there's been some of these in the first half of the 20th century as well.
              great post...

If you do this for Pac then any other fighter can't be denied of such demands in the future.. this can take a huge toll on BOXING. If Pac wants to be a WELTER WEIGHT champion!! then he needs to fight (or allow his opponent) to perform at the WW LIMIT!!! Obviously if you make Cotto smaller he won't be as strong and Pac will benefit. If I was Cotto I would improve my stance financially for the bout considering the fact that I now have to add things to the table like: My $, my weight, my belt, my lifesavings, real estate, cars, wife, kids.... Maybe they should also make Miguel fight with one hand behind his back too... THAT WOULD DO IT!!!! PERFECT!!! And people badmouth $mayweather....atleast Floyd fought people at their weight class or at the weight class limit....
who the f_ck are you *****? why does PAC have to earn your ****** respect? your a hater nothing more nothing less.

who cares if a title is on the line or not! They are not important anymore.titles mean nothing when there are 25 in each division(yeah I know it's sarcasism).anyone who complains about this fight is a ****in ****** & should go watch mma or soccer.this is a premier fight! 2 guys in their primes fighting.what more do you want? pac should fight him at 147.

it will be a blowout. it will make and prove ODLH v pac a good fight.

but its upto his promoters and trainer. and to himself.

are you really looking at PAC's RESUME? or just looking past the achievements and just hating? PAC beat 4 1st ballot hall of famers 5 if hatton went in, won 4 lineal championships (no one did this even those you mentioned), won 6 division titles, never ducked anyone, started from 106 destroying people up to 140 lbs. who does that? could you mention anyone?
