Kotelnik: "Amir Khan is Nothing Special, Done Nothing"

Kotelnik definitely shouldn't be an underdog, but Prescott is rated #8 at Lightweight by The Ring, he's no longer a nobody, and Khan has improved dramatically since teaming up with Roach, so your biased outlook is every bit as illogical as the bias that you're criticising.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-09-2009, 11:26 AM.Comment

I know it is a voluntary defense but Warren has been talking about getting Khan a shot at this specific belt for some time.It was Kotelnik's decision to give Khan the shot, in a voluntary defence. Warren offered him a good payday but he couldn't force him to take the fight, Kotelnik just fancied the payday. And Kotelnik is a very good fighter. Although you're right that he's probably the weakest of the belt holders at his weight, it certainly won't be an easy fight for Khan, and if anything he's being rushed much too quickly, because even if he does manage to win, which is far from certain, he hasn't had enough meaningful fights under Roach to be ready to defend the title if he wins it.
I get the impression that Warren just wants to cash out on this kid. He is getting old and senile.
You're right Kotelnik didn't have to take the fight, but he'd have been nuts to turn it down. Khan is the easiest fight for him and he will get paid the most, pretty easy decision.
Hatton, Witter, Bradley, Holt, Torres would all take Khan out without too much trouble. If people had seen more of Kotelnik they would be able to see that he isn't just some random Euro bum.Comment

Rating Prescott #8 for beating Khan doesn't make him the 8th best fighter at his weight.Kotelnik definitely shouldn't be an underdog, bit Prescott is rated #8 at Lightweight by The Ring, he's no longer a nobody, and Khan has improved dramatically since teaming up with Roach, so your biased outlook is every bit as illogical as the bias that you're criticising.
He is maybe in the top 15 at lightweight but I doubt it. Prescott is a very limited fighter, he is no Ali Funeka for instance.
It's funny too that people class Prescott as a huge puncher because he stopped Khan. His power is overrated. For instance, he could not even knock out Humberto Toledo, a guy who was stopped in 1 round by the very light hitting Lamont Peterson.Comment

To be fair, Kotelnik hasn't really beaten anybody of note for a boxer who has had over 30 fights. A loss over Witter, and easy wins over the average M'Baye and Maidana. Kotelnik is a good fighter, but he isn't anything better than that. I give him the slight edge over Khan because of Khans weak chin, but in terms of skills, Khan is lightyears ahead of him.I know it is a voluntary defense but Warren has been talking about getting Khan a shot at this specific belt for some time.

No he wasn't rated by The Ring until he had beaten Toledo. It wasn't on the basis of the Khan fight alone.
And his KO percentage is extremely high, his reputation as a hard puncher didn't just come from the Khan fight. And despite what you said, Toledo was frequently rocked in their fight, but had enough ring savvy to survive until his DQ.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-09-2009, 11:32 AM.Comment

12 rounds is a long time for an idiot like Khan to avoid a single significant punch. To be fair, Kotelnik hasn't really beaten anybody of note for a boxer who has had over 30 fights. Kotelnik will find his spot and it will only take one shot to get Khan going.Comment

The Toledo that knocked was knocked out in 2 minutes by Lamont Peterson, a fighter with only 13 KOs in 27 Wins?
Prescott sure deserves a lot of credit for that. :wank:Comment
