fight reasonably well known American names who know how to play the media.... Or fight some unknown guy from Wales with the charisma of a slug, a mediocre resume who's best names Joe Smo American has never heard of.

It's like asking the LA Lakers if they want to play the Plymouth Admirals, the Admirals are the UK Champions, have a bunch of Young Americans sent over by the NBA to get blooded and would give the Lakers a run for their money due to the hunger of beating the bigger team, they would probably lose but the lakers wouldn't enjoy it much and nobody would pay to watch it.
Of course it does, especially when Joe Calzaghe fans claim it isn't his fault that he has a poor resume. Why wouldn't Joe want a chance to fight one of the best P4P fighters in his prime? If I was in his position Roy would of been my prime target and following him to all of his events would be top priority. It is not like Joe didn't want Roy,he just made no effort in achieving his goal and instead fought the version he himself stated was "shot".

Come on, Kris. Buy a mirror.
Do you know, no I am not as obsessed with Calzaghe as BS is, and I've come to realise that. I coulda branded it a long time ago, but it's very clear there's an odd obsession there with Joe on his part.

I'm a fan of Joe nothing more, I like to talk of positive things in this sport I love. Often that's on topics around Joe I'm interested in, but not always, infact I think less so than BS. There's the difference, I have a hobby for being a fan of someone which most people do in life, BS has a negative obsession about criticising a guy as if they've personally hurt someone close to them

As to saying I let it ride, that does not suggest I'm defending Joes character in anyway, to say so is trying to find something out of nothing, and frankly a little peculiar.

I'll happily debate this topic with reasonable points. But to be quite honest, Reed, Hammaer and myself perhaps another are the only ones whom have debated the topic with any real info, view point, or objectiveness. Needless to say I believe in meritocracy.

In essence Joe deserved a fight more than a handful of names Roy fought anyway, and both guys are mature enough themselves to admit this I'd think, as it's clearly true. No hang ups though, not everything you want to happen in life let alone sport, happens. Joe would deserved also to take a significantly smaller pot, woulda probably done well and won a few admirers, surprised a few, but lost. Either guy woulda been a better name on the resume years ago, particularly in the case of Roy, because he'd have probably won, and Joe woulda probably continued to unify at SMW at least. That's more than Woods, Harmon or Hall have done.

But what's done is done, it didn't happen.

It's a little sad but I let it ride. What I find most ridiculous about BS aside from spending all his time ranting about another man, he also claims to know all Calzaghe fans are just imbeciles, and I have an inherent hate for know it all generalising arrogance like that, because it's clearly untrue.

For eg, if Calzaghe was not 'deserving' of a fight in Roy's so called prime, then how comes Richard Hall got a shot? Did he deserve a shot over Joe? That is but one example.

Enemy/Friend - I didn't call you one single name pal, but I did point out some very dubious comments on your part, such as that of Tarver deserving a fight more partially because he was American, and not really listing anything as to why Calzaghe did or didn't deserve a fight. Using Tarver a guy whom did work hard for it, is hardly a fair benchmark considering you can also pick someone from the bottom of the list like I have. Landing fights in any given climate is more complex then that anyway.

I think Joe was deserving and would've been a great win for Roy back then over a couple of other opponents he did face. Joe has clearly and would've anyway become, a better fighter and name than Richard Hall, Otis Grant, Derek Harmon, or even Clinton Woods. Now we can play this game all day both guys have fought their fair share of considerably lesser opponents at times each other would have been a bigger and better fight, but that isn't always recognised, possible or done at the time, otherwise it'd be an ideal world. I think both guys would accept this now infact I'm sure they've said as much. They've both said they wanted eachother for years. I'm not going to enter into other stuff said, at the end of the day Joe himself has actually said this more emphatically and more often then anything to the slight contrary. Roy didn't take it up, and instead did some of the lesser names I've mentioned. Joe deserved a considerably smaller pot sure, but he deserved a shot as much as those guys, and clearly a lot more.
I take your point,it is well noted but when people start saying Jones ducked Calzaghe in his prime,or it is not Joe's fault that his resume lacks depth bothers me. The fighters were there for him while his effort into securing them wasn't. Maybe his fear of flying or Frank Warren was holding him back but he still holds some responsibility.

          Agreed.

And their resumes stand as it is.

          Jones ATG.

          Calzaghe not so much.

I really enjoy these Dr. Phil breakdowns. It really shows how angry and defensive all of these guys get.

Ask yourself a question Joe fans: you think I get his wound up about this? You really think that? LOL.

I think the question should be the other way around. Joe was the champ, and Roy hadn't done much at all other than beat on a washed up Trinidad. Roy got his shot mostly due to his name and his glamorous career. Either way, they both wanted the fight, so it happened.

Now who is generalizing? LOL@you. I never said "ALL" I said most when it comes to BOXING knowledge. And it's pretty much true, look around this page. Take notes. Here's a good hint for you: just because you are a fan of Joe, does not mean you should let ****** statements slide and completely ignorant comments be accepted as fact to you just because the other person is a Joe fan. That's what shows too much subjectivity and not enough objectivity.

As for your second point. Good lord this kind of tripe has been destroyed many many times before. But hey we'll do it again. Richard Hall wasn't making ridiculous demands to fight on his own backyard or asking for any serious money. Richard Hall knew his place.

Joe thought his WBO trinket was worth a lot more than it was. In the end it's Joe's fault, no matter what excuses his fans constantly make for putting any of the blame on this to Roy. Not a big deal either if Joe just shut up about it, and his fans didn't constantly and of years make ****** statements like "Roy didn't want to know"

Kris is a good dude. People shouldn't rag on him just because he likes a fighter that somebody else doesn't. He's a well-balanced poster, anyone can see this.

I also agree with Reed -- ****, this is the this time today already! -- that some people here make it a major chore to converse with others due to their overly-aggressive attitude and approach. There's no need to make everything a personal attack. Coming on this forum is not really like communicating with others, it's more like walking into a kennel and being bitten to death by rabid terriers.
