He admitted that Jones was washed up a few years back and saw the chance to enhance his name when Roy got back to a respectable level, so he fought him. You also have to allow Jones' perspective having been blatantly robbed of the GOLD medal in his last fight in another country and also that the US is considered the boxing capital of the world. Roy didn't need to go fight Calzaghe in a lower weight (a division that he had already conquered), that is the lower weight/less recognized guys responsibility to chase him. (no pun intended)

Wassup Reed? Good yakin' at ya again.
Joe joe joe, your ploys are so obvious...

I cannot say. I know nothing about the Admirals.

I do think Jones would have been able to play around wih Joe a little in his prime though, so I know where your going with that. Jones would have known he was in a fight more so than allot of the late 90's fights , however.

This thread seems a tad silly.

What a bizarre and somewhat futile debate.

Did the Brit not beat Jones?

Even though I love him (not in a ****sexual way!) I have to admit that the British boxer Joe Calzaghe is not as much of a boxing legend as the great Roy Jones Jr.

However, I think that when you become the Undisputed Super-Middleweight Champion of the World by beating Mikkel Kessler and you then beat Bernard Hopkins, you just about deserve to test your skills against someone as good as Roy Jones Jr.

I was quite proud of Joe the night he beat Roy, but obviously I was saddened too, as it was the end of two high profile boxing careers.

Did he not prove that he deserved the fight by beating the great Roy Jones Jr. emphatically?
