Did Joe Calzaghe do enough to warrent a fight with Roy?

Tarver,an American had to do everything in his power for a fight with Roy Jones. Here is a brief excerpt of the events leading up to the fight.

Now look at Tarver. There's a guy who wanted a Roy fight. He beat everyone in the LHW division. When he lost to Harding (which cost him his fight with Roy) he did everything he could (I don't care about the money he said) to get that Rematch and KOed Harding. He mowed down every top guy in the division that Roy had already dispatched. He showed up at every press conference Roy was at, screaming to be heard. He got interviews with the Ring, made sure his name was in EVERY article about Roys with a snide comment about Roy. He made the PUBLIC demand that fight.

Joe may have used Roy's name in his post fight interview a couple of times but was that really enough? Calzaghe even has a quote of himself saying "I would need the Crown ***els in order to fight Roy as he is such a big risk.

This is not a hate thread on Joe or his fans, just give me your honest unbiased opinions on this subject matter....

I think you could argue the fact... did Roy do enough to warrant a fight with Joe...

probably not... but it was what he had done throughout his career, that earned him the chance, now...

Are you talking about their recent fight?

That's just how Joe rolls. He picked Roy because he was old and shot, not because Roy was a top contender.

'Also who wrote that piece of text Enemy/Friend? Seems very well written, almost scholarly! Whoever wrote it must be very smart

And here I was thinking it was RJJ who wanted to fight Calzaghe, not the other way round.

you have to take note that roy fell off about 5 years ago and has since then done nothin to even be considered top of the class
the question should be asked the other way around

Nice response Reed. I don't know if it's a bait thread or just ******, but clearly the Ring Champion and agreed top of the division guy clearly deserves a shot at anyone in it. It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise, when your top dog no matter how you got there, loads of people want to fight you. Did Roy do enough, well he had 3 fights to slowly get him back up in the rankings and looking better, but Reed's right it was also his previous stuff and legend, name that made the fight.

Nard was the #1 guy he'd already beaten, Chad doesn't bring much money or anything really, and Johnson just got beat by him and same applies.

                    It was, what it was.
