i'll tell you what man, if he is serious about coming back and fighting manny, for his sake and the sake of a good showdown, he's gonna need at least a tuneup or two

floyd's skill is topnotch but coming off a 2 year retirement against the kind of speed he'll be facing, it might get ugly...and this is coming from someone who holds floyd's ability in the highest regard

      Why the catch-weight?

      What is Freddie afraid of?
The guy weighed in at like 142, he rehydrated to just past the welter limit. He was essentially a junior welterweight.

          I understand.

But Freddie claims Manny struggles to make the lower weights.

Seems like Freddie would be jeopardizing Manny's health by making him go down to 140, more likely 138 or 139, to have him re-hydrate before the fight.

          It just seems odd.

Using your own logic Margarito shouldn't stay at WW, he should fight kelly pavlik at middleweight. Fighting former flyweight champion Shane Mosley at 37 years of age, after refusing twice the money for a Williams fight really should keep Margarito quite as a mouse dude.

I don't think so at all. Look at Manny's fight before against Diaz, he weighed in at 134. At 140, that's 6 pounds above that. When he put on only a few pounds after the weigh-in to go to just above the welterweight limit, that told the story that he wasn't a real welterweight. He was essentially a junior welterweight.

The only difference about the weigh-in from others is that he didn't cut water to make weight. Going to 140 from 142, I don't think that's a big leap for a guy who looked absolutely filled out at the weigh-in.

When Mayweather fought Hatton, no one was cheering for Mayweather, it was a Hatton crowd. They might have been fighting in Manchester.

Same with the Gatti fight, they did the fight in Atlantic City because it would have bombed anywhere else.

Mayweather's financial demands would likely be exorbitant, but his undefeated record is one that only he holds to the regard that he does.

If he demands anything greater than parity, I'd LOL.

Floyd would be worth every penny he would get for this fight. Floyd is a villain point blank, he is not someone people cheer for, he draws the ire of fans. Anger is a strong emotion though, and no one that likes boxing does not have an opinion on Mayweather. The old saying goes it does not matter if the fans are booing or they are cheering, as long as they are not silent. If people buy your fight on PPV or tickets to see you lose whats the real difference, they still laid down money to see what happeans.

Hero-Villian, Good-Evil that **** sells fights, way more then even a great fight.

Pac should focus on Hatton first then go after Mayweather.

What's wrong with fighting at 147 where Manny looked great and performed at his best ?
