Ricky Hatton is everything Joe Calzaghe wants to be.

In his conquest of greatness he went to the US at what, 26? He fought the number 1 pound-for-pound fighter on the planet in his backyard. He beat Tszyu, the undisputed champ at 140 (though technically I think he'd been stripped of a belt for some corrupt reason). Calzaghe fought in his backyard right up until he was 36, negotiated a fight with a Hopkins 9 month out of the ring and a solid several years past his best and barely sc****d a victory. And he's gonna retire this year!

Joe even stole his throat-slit gesture in December, copped it to use against Hopkins

Where did you challenge any of the points? You didn't, not one. It doesn't surprise me you can't/won't read more than a few sentences, especially when it challenges your views and you don't like it.

I'm just sharing my opinion that you are a poor poster on this forum. The simple fact is you can't argue your points in a adult like manner, and throughout this thread you have resorted to childlike remarks and arguments.

The bottom line is, Joe Calzaghe, as good as he was, never dared to be great. A shame, really. He could've made his mark at the turn of the century.

It's not his fault the Ottke fight never came to fruition but he should've fought a Tarver, Glen Johnson, hell even a David Telesco. For years, he complained of making weight...but only moved up to fight a 43yr old. One he wouldn't have fought in his prime. And now he considers Jones...something he wouldn't have dared to do in his prime either.

But I have much respect for him - I do think many people underrate him. He's an excellent, at times brilliant, fighter. A solid lefty whose ability to adapt and underrated power have carried him to an undefeated record. He'll enter the Hall of Fame...but never the pantheon of All-Time Greats he could've had...if only he dared.
