Dude what i dont understand is why would u knock toney because he fought and lost to was in another division to what he was use to.Very skilled, but remains one of the most overrated fighters of modern times. People look at his shoulder roll and think he's the best technical fighter to ever live, and don't look at the fact that he lost to guys like Dave Tiberi(a C level nobody), Montell Griffin twice, was given a bit of a gift in one of his fights with an old McCallum, and got schooled terribly in his fight with best fighter he faced, Roy Jones.
He's had some good performances. Barkley, and the win over Nunn was good, but he's not that good people.
Of course his fans will now come in with "Whenever Toney lost, it was because he was unmotivated. Whenever he was hit or did something slightly wrong in the ring, it was because he didn't have the motivation to move out of the way in that particular sequence."
He lost at light heavyweight 3 times and lost 2 times in heavywieght division so what? he started out as a dam middlewieght and yes he lost to a very gd roy jones plus james toneys prime was at super middlewieght!
what u jus said is like sayin roy jones was no good because he lost to 2 bums well gues what it happens sometimes great fighters lose to C class competition but the reason there great is because they dont constantly lose to C class fighters.
Toney was great cause he fought everybody and won belts in multiple divisions taking on the toughest.
you just basically said hes crap because of his losses which isnt a very gd statement to why u think james is crap.
The guy has only been down 4 times in his career of 80 fights in 4 divisions from middle to heavy i mean wtf how is he overrated?

Drake Thadzi, the fight that Toney killed himself to make weight, yet still failed. Who would a thunk he would do poorly. You act like he was destroyed too. He lost a MD meaning one judge saw it as a draw.
I guess Muhammad Ali must suck too. He came in over weight and barely eeked out a victory over Jimmy Young.Comment

lol i can see ur a james toney hater if u just look at those vids i posted at the begining of the thread then u will see some of his best wins and theres about 5 vids there.
A boxer cant make his resume look gd if theres no one around james toney fought the best and everyone at the time.
He cant pull hagler out of retirement then pound him so his resume looks better lol its not gna happen.Comment

Name one fighter that Schooled James Toney? Roy Jones? No. Roy didn't school him. That fight was much closer than many people believe. A product of Roy Jones fan boys talking about the fight, without ever seeing it.
Montell Griffin? Sure didn't take Toney to school.
Even in the fights where he came in HORRIBLY out of shape. The kind of shape that would make Vargas look trim and cut. He still managed to keep the fights close and reasonable competitive.Comment

It's good to see that after a long time atleast someone is nuthugging Toney...Anyone who believes he is better than Ray Leonard or Mayweather should be shot straight away and this is coming from the biggest Mayweather hater you will find here, but I do give him his dues.
