Just how great is james toney?

    how great is james toney?
Many people dont give him his props because hes a blown up heavywieght now but look at what hes achieved hes became a world champ in middlewieght, super middlewieght, light heavy and crusier then he became heavywieght champ but lost the belt cause he used steroids.
Yes he is one of my favourite fighters because of his style hes influenced alot of people to use the shoulder roll i think he made it popular when he started using it.
How great do u think james toney is? if he becomes heavywieght champ would u consider him a atg?
Heres a few of his best bouts:

James only given 1 round to finish the fight shows his will to retain his belt.

Beats jirov the Arturo Gatti of the cruiserwieght division toney traded blows and won.

behind on the scorecards toney knocks out nunn to get his belt.
In my opinion theres too many fighters that go over looked and at the moment people over look james toney because of his present state but theres stil time for him to turn it around dont u agree?

He's not going to be HW champ, so scratch that.

But pound-for-pound for his career he already is an atg. He had power but it was middleweight power.

People under rate the greatness of James ''lights out'' Toney. People critisizes him because early in his career, he often struggled with lesser competion and was out of shape for the majority of his fights. But keep in mind that if you fought every style out there and did not care who you fought, of course there would styles out there that will give you problems. That actually adds on to his greatness because he fought all comers and didn't fear anyone and this is what makes him a throwback to the old fighters. You have to give a man credit for coming up in weight and capturing titles in every weight class that he was in. Give prime Toney at middleweight the work ethic of Bernard Hopkins and the sky would be the limit. Brilliant counter punching, hand speed, combinations, and inside game. I personally have Toney on my top 15 of all time.

Toney is an all time great in my book. Unfortuntly people will only recognize him for two things, his loss to RJJ & getting fat. But in his prime years he was one of the best

i agree 100% with that post gd post but you have to take in account that james toney wieghed 200lbs+ when he was playing college football so he had to shave off alot of pounds for fights.
