Toney is an all time great in my book. Unfortuntly people will only recognize him for two things, his loss to RJJ & getting fat. But in his prime years he was one of the best

i know thats what this post is about its such a shame people dont give him his props.

In terms of overall ability and skill there aren't many who compare. Toney is a natural fighter who may be the last of a dying breed. You can't deny the man put in work with the best of his era. Unlike most boxers today, fighting was the man's business...not the other way around. Sadly, his days are done and I don't see him grabbing the HW belt. He deserves crazy respect and is without a doubt an all-time great. It's unfortunate that some may be placed above him because of promotional hype and mainstream attention.

Many people dont give him his props because hes a blown up heavywieght now but look at what hes achieved hes became a world champ in middlewieght,super middlewieght,light heavy and crusier then he became heavywieght champ but lost the belt cause he used steroids.
Yes he is one of my favourite fighters because of his style hes influenced alot of people to use the shoulder roll i think he made it popular when he started using it.
How great do u think james toney is? if he becomes heavywieght champ would u consider him a atg?

Floyd Mayweather is in his prime.
As good as Toney is, he has never ever been better than Ray Leonard or Floyd.

Would this be the same James Toney who was lucky to get a decision over Dave Tiberi? The same James Toney who lost to Drake Thadzi and twice to Montell Griffin? I never see Mayweather losing or even struggling against fighters of that caliber. Toney was a top fighter, but lets not fall victim to wild exaggeration.
