Looks like I picked a bad night for dinner and a movie with my girlfriend. This was a hell of a thread since I left.

I totally agree about Gatti being his best performance and not his best win.

Hatton fans, consider this: Was Jose Luis Castillo looking like he was in great shape the night that he fought Ricky Hatton? **** no. Did Ricky Hatton do exactly what he should have done to Castillo? Uhhhh, yes. He absolutely ran the game on Castillo, so it was probably his best performance.

The same goes with Gatti. He did not look good that night, at all. Does that mean that Mayweather's performance was diminished by Gatti sucking? No dice. Floyd was able to let combinations flow beautifully, so it was his best performance. If you want to know Floyd's best win, I would have to say Diego Corrales, easy. Second is a tie between De La Hoya and Genaro Hernandez. Third is a tied between Angel Manfredy, Jesus Chavez and Zab Judah.

Fair enough. But, I never saw Jose Luis Castillo lay down to anybody. Maybe, just maybe, Castillo's problem was Ricky Hatton. I think it's error, for real, to believe that the only reason Castillo went down the way he did to Hatton was because something must have been wrong with him. Castillo and Tszyu are two tough mountains to climb, period. You can run them down all you want, but to me all that is sour g****s. IMO those mountains stand just as high as today's De LaHoya and Corrales.

I think Castillo's main problem was his balance... did you see him go down in a clinch in the first round, did you notice he got knocked around by every shot, even if he blocked it? It reminded me of the way Vernon Forrest looked against Mayorga the first time, when Forrest couldn't keep Mayorga off him (on account of his ****ed up shoulder).

I don't know, Emanuel Steward said he was surprised by how bad he looked in the first 10 seconds. There was just some intangible that wasn't there for him, he just kind of seemed... off.

Regardless of whether Castillo was shot or not, Dios's argument stands that opposition and performance mean two different things.

            For Mayweather
De La Hoya win = good opposition. Gatti win = good performance. Corrales win = both.

I think Castillo definately falls under good performance. But I also firmly agree that Castillo going down was not just because he is ****ed as a fighter. I already told you that Hatton looked good as gold that night, so it was probably a mixture. That body shot would cripple most people temporarily though.

Dewiens: The issue under debate is whether or not Mayweather's record is better than Hatton's. They wanted me to justify my position that the two records cannot clearly be distinguished. I think I've done that. But, now its time for bed. Good night guys.

Hatton is a much better fighter than that now!! Lets hope Mayweather does not end up on the ropes with Hatton!

The best in the sport wouldn't be made to look like a fool by Zab Judah for 4 consecutive rounds.

Bernard Hopkins has the best defense in the sport.

I do agree - Mayweather has one hell of a defense.

But not the best in the sport.
mayweather only lost 3 of the first 4 rounds to judah
and he was letting judah get off on his punches it was a part of the plan
although judah's hand speed did give a few problems
but u saw how he adjusted in the mid rounds
tattooed is gettin the **** beat outta you for 12 rounds
floyd only caught hot ones in a round or so

you call that bull**** hugging and hold from hopkins the best defense?
you honestly think hopkins has the best defense??
last time i checked hopkins has been knocked down a few times more than floyd
i only caught the knockdown against judah a knockdown for floyd and he didnt even fall on his ass
hopkins has been knocked on his ass
yeah i dont call hugging and headbutting good defense
                    thats just lame
and for the record i am a big hopkins fan
but to say he has better d the floyd...
                    yeah right
