Are you kidding? Most fighters have a copy of The War in they fight vid collections. He's one of the guys outside of Randy Couture that fighters have a deep respect for. Everybody loves Hagler.

so true, anyone that argues that fact or denies is plain ignorant. they are two completely different ways of fighting. boxing is just fist strikes, which you can only use a few, a large majority of punches have been made illegal, and i'm not talking about any illegal blows i.e. rabbit punching, kidney shots, etc. MMA is a full body system, you use fists, elbows, kicks, knees, and various other strikes as well as fighting on the ground and using technique to submit your opponent or choke him out.

apples and oranges, more like apples and onions......................good post handz...........

I love Marvin Hagler, but why did he feel the need to speak about the never ending and completely boring boxing vs. mma arguement?

I want to hear Marvin rip Jermain Taylor for being such a pathetic middleweight "champion." I would much rather know what Hagler thinks of Pavlik, Calzaghe, Miranda, Kessler, Tarver, Dawson, etc!

Marvin, you are still my all-time favorite hero of the ring, but I don't want to hear you talk about mma brother! If boxing needs anything from you, (and yes, it does) it needs YOU to talk about BOXING!

UFC fighters are like cavemen hitting each other over the head with clubs. the skillsets are inferior. MMA at its best is C level boxing. and whenever someone points that out you get butthurt women crying to "leave the MMA alone , 2 different sports, wahhhh"

funny how the best fighter in the sport is a "striker" aka a POOR MAN'S BOXER (liddell)

UFC = big right now because people just want to see blood/gore and someone get brutally KO'd. UFC is the latest fad for college frat boys to circle jerk over. its the new world series of poker. its all flash and gore and ZERO SUBSTANCE

BOXING = 10 times more substance and style, which is why its lasted so long. an AVERAGE skilled boxer is more skilled and honed in one area then the best the UFC has to offer

UFC may be winning some ratings now but its not built for the long haul. its a FAD. i'd give you 10 more reasons it wont last but i dont feel like typing

problem w/MMA is its not true skill. Its who comes in stronger that day. Gonzaga.Mirko for example. Mirko would have murdeled him on any other day. Yes there is technique, but its about the ground. When your on your back theres no balance, your resting [off your feet], just far more limiting than boxing and far far less skill. Theres more moves but its whos stronger than can put the move on. You dont have to be a "strong" guy to win in boxing. Its all skill...period.

I've trained both [competed as well] and boxing is a much more grueling.

Hmm, does Gracie ring a bell??? Royce was outweighed by atleast 100lbs. against guys who can also bench press 3 times Royce's own weight, on top of that 'roid ragin worse than Bonds, Sosa, and Big Mac put together. Umm, another more recent example: Randy Couture was outsized by a 6'8 Sasquatch named Tim Sylvia. What happened?? If size didn't matter in boxing. Why the hell did RJJ not bother w/ the likes of Tyson and Lewis?? Jones knew what would happen against talented MACK TRUCKS!!

The best fighter in the sport is a russian combat samboist with a thing for strategy.

Liddell is a paper tiger built up by the nuthugger president.

And the reason boxing still around is that you deliver quick and easy.

But sometimes things are never quick. Nor easy.

Quit thinking in one dimention and start thinking in four.
