Boxing peeps are so fearful and hurt with MMA getting bigger, good ppv numbers, dredging up all this old, outdated, ignorant, "Its barbaric human ****fighting" bull from 1995.

Its seems to me the repeated argument on this thread and elsewhere is boxfans saying MMA-striking is inferior not up to par- Yes, in a boxing ring.

You guys need to get it in your heads that there have been 15+ yrs of people trying to figure out striking that works best in MMA. Because of the glove size, clinch work, takedown defense, number of strikes (from hands and feet), a pure boxing appraoch simply doesnt work in MMA. Jabs, feet planting, and so forth is a recipe for disaster against certain fighters. And, for instance, because of the more open defenses, winging loopy punches works better in MMA than in boxing.

As for not liking or understanding groundwork- thats fine. Boxing is a more refined sport, but only because MMA fighters have about 50 times more things to worry about. If you are educated and enjoy all those aspects, its a very enjoyable thing to watch.

Hardly a superstar buddy!!! Maybe if his brother had kept fighting he couldve been one but not Wladimir!!!

As for Haglers comments I have to agree with him when it comes to their boxing skills!!! But not when it comes to their grond work!!! They have plenty of skill in ground work!!!

I still think boxing is the better sport!!!!

funny how the best fighter in the sport is a "striker" aka a POOR MAN'S BOXER (liddell)

UFC = big right now because people just want to see blood/gore and someone get brutally KO'd. UFC is the latest fad for college frat boys to circle jerk over. its the new world series of poker. its all flash and gore and ZERO SUBSTANCE

BOXING = 10 times more substance and style, which is why its lasted so long. an AVERAGE skilled boxer is more skilled and honed in one area then the best the UFC has to offer

UFC may be winning some ratings now but its not built for the long haul. its a FAD. i'd give you 10 more reasons it wont last but i dont feel like typing
First of all, Liddell was a division 1 wreslter in college. He has outstanding BJJ and he's only being hyped up a the best fighter when we truely know he's not. The reason why he uses his hands like that is because his last 7 fights, before rampage have, been against wrestlers and grapplers would try to take him down but couldn't because of his great take down defense.

hagler's always been a little nutty.

the UFC and MMA in general deserves respect, those guys are ****in animals. theres no gloves, so one clean shot and if your not tough enough, your on your ass.

lol you could have all the speed in the world, but if you eat a simple over hand that comes over a jab....your out cold.
