On the other hand we have to keep in mind who we are dealing with here, it's Don King vs. Nevada; best expressed by The Simpsons when Mr. Burns is exposed to too much radiation at the plant: "Smithers I feel as impotent as a Nevada Boxing Commissioner."

I chose to rewatch the fight again and get reacclimated with it.

From what I saw, Wlad was loading up on everything and teeing off on Brewster. But you could see as early as the second round he was starting to get tired, and the HBO announcers were commenting on it as well. By the middle of the fifth he was exhausted and Brewster caught and hurt him bad and Wlad was unable to recover and the fight was waived off.

After the fight Wlad went to the hospital and his blood sugar was nearly twice the norm. No steroids were detected, but I've long suspected him of using steroids. My own opinion of course, with no proof.

Wlad later had an independent doctor check his blood and urine. Again, nothing fishy but the doctor suggested he could have been poisoned, but there was no evidence. Wlad had the test transferred to another facility and the samples got lost.

In my opinion, Wlad gassed. He than got hurt and couldn't recover. His chin was always suspect, and his powers of recovery were as well. I think those things have been well documented.

The possibility he could have been poisoned is there, but I just don't see it. Wlad was a great fighter after his losses to Sanders and Brewster because he learned how to pace himself better and hold more.

What do you think? Was this fight fixed?
I think you pretty much explained it perfectly. Wlad ran out of gas against Ross Puritty too in the same way so it's not like this was an anomaly. He obviously had pacing and stamina issues as well as a shaky chin. He definitely improved his pace and stamina later in his career.

Brewster was also landing body blows which did not help.

Regarding comments of Wlad getting tired in the third round their were two. Larry Merchant mentioned Wlad tendency to tire referencing the Purrity bout and Roy Jones stated Wlad was getting tired later in the round.

Again a conspiracy so deep and wide that it included the HBO announcers is not going to happen. Conspiracies are rare because as you have more individuals involved than 1 the more likely someone will talk. No conspiracies here and this is revealed by the drug tests post bout being negative.
I saw the body punches... Not really much after that until he caught Vlad flush, he did catch him good and Brewster could crack. Jones in the past had a knack for prognostacating correctly. But I heard a lot about Vlad tiring, and throwing too many punches, way before he was tired! It really sounded like a lead in to a known conclusion. Take that with the odds, and with how exhausted Vlad suddenly was... It just does not look right.

Not saying it is so but I think given that three things were off: (the odds, the announcing, Vlad's sudden exhaustion) i'm willing to entertain it as worth looking into. I don't think QueenB is crazy to think this was a possible set up...

It would require extraordinary proof, if it were so... I don't think these three variables prove it. But IMO it makes it worth looking into.

I am going to look at the Purity fight carefully again. Sanders just lit him up, no question about that.

The Purity fight looks similar, vis a vis, more drawn out than the Brewster fight... Vlad displayed similar behavior... So that speaks to a legit loss to Brewster.

What stood out to me in both fights was how Wlad was beating both of them until his stamina let him down.

Wonder what changed in Wladimir Kiltschko's training, because as a champion? He never really gassed out, always seemed calm 'Always struck me as a fighter who could fight in 2nd - 3rd gear all night'.

He went from David Price type endurance to reasonably competent and solid endurance.

He slowed down his attack. Started pacing himself.

Wlad Klitschko Mark I deflated as soon as he got hit, ask the late Corrie Sanders. He was as rigid as granite even while on the attack.

Under Steward, he learned how to spend less energies and fight a little more relaxed. It's simple as that to me.
