I don't know . . . that last knockdown (fall down) after the bell looks like a guy passing out drunk, not falling from a punch. . . . like he is reaching out to grab the floor so he doesn't fall down. . . . (kinda been there myself a few times) . . . and why does the referee not give him the one minute rest to see if he can come up to scratch; what was the ref seeing in Wald's eyes?

No conspiracy involving the ref and announcers at ringside could stay hidden for long.
That was Wlad. Exhausted and hurt he was all in and done. Carrying around that huge frame was difficult once spent. Having a poor chin did not help.
Wlad looked ready to have a heart attack as he hurtfully pulled himself off the canvas. He was in no condition to continue. The bout would have been stopped by his own corner 60 seconds later.Comment

No doubt Wald couldn't continue, after the fight the ring doctor looks seriously concerned and spends more than the usual time assessing him.
But a stoppage isn't the normal move at that moment.Comment

Lol, betting was shut down a week before the fight, huh?
Dr Margaret Goodman, the chairwoman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission's medical advisory board and Nevada's chief ringside physician was in the ring and attending to Klitschko seconds after the referee stopped the fight. Her initial diagnosis of a Grade 3 concussion was confirmed at the hospital after further tests. Goodman was skeptical of the theory that Klitschko had been drugged.[13]
As a result of the circumstances that surrounded the fight, FBI started an investigation.[14] Judd Bernstein, the lawyer representing Klitschko, suggested that he was a victim of an ongoing fight fixing in Las Vegas (which also included fraudulent medical reports), which was investigated by FBI at the time.[15] Bernstein, along with some other journalists, pointed out that in the last 48 hours before the beginning of the fight, the betting odds in favor of Klitschko rapidly dropped from 11-to-1 to 3,5-to-1.[16][17][7][18] Some observers believed that such a massive drop in betting odds was due to Don King betting a large sum on Brewster's victory, however these speculations were never confirmed.[Brewster through a right left combo in the fifth catching Wlad on the chin cleanly with that hook. He never recovered from that blow and he was stopped the very next round. This bout in many ways mirrored his bout with Purrity. In both bouts he gassed by punching himself out by going for the KO and his opponent fighting back to win.
There is no poisoning, no drugging unless those substances are found. They weren’t so those they believe otherwise are living in a dreamland. Wlad did not have the will to win when confronted with adversity. Instead he collapsed in sections.I may have read it on Boxrec about the other doctor. Let me go back and look.
Boxrec it was. Here it is.....
After that, Wladimir demanded the tests taken by the Medical Center of South Nevada and the Nevada Quest Diagnostics to be passed on to Dr. Robert Wow for further research. However, the tests disappeared. No conspiracy involving the ref and announcers at ringside could stay hidden for long.

Funny how you guys can provide actual details and make accurate insights once it's the Black guy that wins....
Not su****ious at all.Comment

Wonder what changed in Wladimir Kiltschko's training, because as a champion? He never really gassed out, always seemed calm 'Always struck me as a fighter who could fight in 2nd - 3rd gear all night'.
He went from David Price type endurance to reasonably competent and solid endurance.
He was too tense. That;s also bad for responding to concussive force. We've all heard about drunk drivers surviving serious crashes.
When Boxing, Wrestling, playing Baseball or Football, we're taught to relax, loosen up. If you're stiff every ball will zoom past you, not matter how fixed on it you are. Even if you catch the ball , the likelihood of finding the base and then getting the ball to the catcher drop off dramatically if you're cold and stiff.
With big guys, it's really important that they get warmed up before hitting the mat. It don't matter if the idiot ate two hoagies before the match. They're not the gymansts that the lower weight guys are, but their tendencies to get exhausted AND INJURED is actually increased if they don't drill before getting to the mat - just like doing cardio before you lift.
Sanders who KO'd Wlad would have stopped most HEavyweights. It's to Wlad's credit that he was stopped on his feet after taking that barrage. Really, outside of Ali on his theoretical best night, I can't imagine any Heavyweight up until that time fairing any better against Sanders. But the fully furnished Steward product of several years later almost certainly wouldn't have been ambushed like that.Comment

Stewart made his fighters great at fighting the distance. He really taught them to rely on their strengths than resort to their instincts. That may not have happened every time, but it was definitely a theme of his work over the decades.
This.

And Stewart taught Vlad to hold on for dear life... Vld still cringed when attacked, etc.Comment

Big question would be how long he would survive against a fighter who kept pressuring and making him work.Comment

Sanders had a laser left cross and really poured it on. If you had ever Boxed, you'd realize how difficult a southpaw is to anticipate. Even if you KNOW it's coming, to actually prepare and counter it is very difficult. Few Heavyweights have ever demonstrated the skillset or resilience for withstanding that offense.
Maybe watch fights, then talk?
So Wlad's clinching bothers you? His jab was exquisite. His footwork was exquisite. His hook was wonderful. I get it. That's all lost on someone who thinks fighting is robot dancing and braking pine board. It's kinda hard to do a Kata that includes clinching, huh? But your regular caricatures of Wlad and your desperate defense of Liston show how small and insecure you are. Successful people suck, the losers are the ones that really deserve celebration.
That being said, if you wanna give us a run down of how Cerafino Garcia gave Wlad the beating of his life, I am happy to hear it! Lay it on us!Comment
