I think you are underrating Marcianos defense, and ring IQ.Last edited by juggernaut666; 08-01-2015, 03:01 AM.

I do think the Rock has a big chance but of course it's all academic, if they fought twice after a Marciano victory I believe that due to the vast intelligence Ali had he would quickly learn his mistakes from the previous encounter and win the second in a canter, he was that kind of guy, so yeah the first could go to Marciano, he was so tough and hit so damn hard he could never be counted as a no chance in any fight... he was a great champion, best stamina and the biggest heart of any heavyweight there ever was.

Marciano has a punchers chance and an extremely slim one at that.
Most likely outcome is Ali by late stoppage.

Anyone who bets on rocky is crazy, despite being incredibly overrated, rocky defense wasnt that much good.
Ali would TKO him on cuts in less than 8 rounds, and ali way past his prime wasnt KOd by ron lyle or earnie shavers, both bigger punchers than marciano.
And on top of that, height, reach, and speed advantage.
This is like comparing ricky hatton to Roberto Duran.

Muhammad Ali 60's vs Marciano I see more evenly matched with Clay clearly able to out-box the totally useless MArciano.
However if the 185lb bummy Cooper can smack down Clay then Marciano could easily waste him. In fact Marciano's punchers chance is so high it's nearly an even fight I believe.
OF course Marciano has absolutely no chance against a stronger 70's Ali whatsoever. Only a total idiot would think that.

For what it's worth.. I don't see Rock as a one punch at a time guy. If you watch his eyes in tape he's always looking to land another. 1 punch guys just look to land one and they dont look AFTER. He had a more deliberate pace, but it flowed well in its destructive way.. at the same time, it was an awkward style to handle as well. I think alot of people here don't realize how truly awkward and difficult it was to fight a Rocky Marciano. Every punch was thrown with bad intentions. Having said that 60's Ali is a freak of nature with a significant weight advantage. I think he figures Marciano's awkward rhythm out and out boxes him in a close one.

Ton of love and respect for Marciano's career and fights, one of my favourite guys, but for me the prime for prime Marciano vs Ali was always a no brainer in Ali's favour.
Yes Rocky was incredibly rough and tough, but the prime Ali that danced around and picked off Cleveland Williams or Zora Folley would do that all night vs Rocky. Rock may have had his moments and he may have even hurt Ali, especially to the body. He would have managed to slow him down for sure, but I can't see any other outcome than Ali dancing all night, overcoming rough patches and possibly cutting Rocky up a little bit towards a decision win.
