JAB5239 ,
McGrian is a " well known boxing historian ", you say?!
This could be the wildest claim you have made! No boxing historian rates Brittish Mickey Walker in the top 40 heavyweights of all time, but he did! This tell serious boxing scirbes / histrians he does not know what he is taliking about.
I post where I wish.
As stated Papa Jack and Unforgivable Blackess write Johnson quit. Deal with it.
I told you to contact the writers, but I can see you don't seem to listen very well.
Now you can press on quouting me and others form ESB posts that are 10+ years old.
Since you say both these authors state Johnson quit,it should easy for you to post them saying so.
So will you now post those statements?

I asked AI is Johnson quit in the fight vs. John Haines, known as "Klon***e ". Again two authors say he quit. And AI says:
Yes, Jack Johnson quit in his first fight against John Haines, known as "Klon***e," on May 5, 1899, in Chicago. The bout was Johnson's big-city debut, arranged by promoter P.J. "Paddy" Carroll and his assistant Jack Curley. Johnson, still early in his career, abruptly quit after five rounds, making it an inau****ious start.

When you get the book I will add more for you. Then you will admit I am correct. Trust me amigo, I need nothing for you to accept a manly admission. We will see if you give it or not..Comment

On ChatGPT
You can lead the AI search.
I asked who won the first Johnson-Haines fight and it said Haines by TKO. Referee stoppage.
Tgen I asked if Johnson quit in the first Haines fight and it said yes, calling it an RTD.
I asked why two different answers and it admitted it found evidence of both events, even claiming it found Johnson saying both.
You can lead the AI search with well placed words.
Or!
Does AI lie to cover up its mistakes? HAL did!Comment

Lmao.....yeah just like when you said Holmes was kicked out of Alis camp and it was in "Facing Ali". FALSE!!Comment

So the IBRO emailed me on the matter of Johnson allegedly quitting vs Haynes. Of all the things that they could have used they referenced Adam Pollacks book. They must not think he's a fanboy and has done his research though. By the way Z, it was Henry Hascup who occasionally posts here that sent it. Another noteworthy historian.
Another IBRO member Dr. Kelly Nicholson also knows nothing of Johnson quitting from the email he sent. Odd no mention of quitting from a boxing history organization that does a ton of research.Last edited by JAB5239; 05-25-2025, 08:36 PM.Comment

The second guy seems to have answered in honest ignorance.
