That's why I initially used this argument when Queenie said Beterbiev would stop Patterson. Maybe he would, we'll never know. But there is so much more to take into consideration than just what you think may happen. I think I may hit the lottery one day. It's certainly possible. â€
Yeah but you gots to give that kid Mcqueeny a break. The liquor always throws off his ideal posting weight!
Bob Foster, Vicente Rondon, Pierre Fourie, Victor Galindez, Len Stinger Hutchins, John Conteh, Jorge Ahumada, Yaqui Lopez, Richie Kates, Tom Boggs and Jessie Barnett are a few of Jerry Quarry's contemporaries down at 175 would would give Arthur Beterbiev & Bivol all thay they could handle, and those two would have Zero chance at beating all of them. Quarry would be way too much for them. Be serious.

Again, levels to the game... I do believe if Beter had been in the mix at a different time and trained according to different conventions, fought guys who were much more able to do more things in the ring, he would be better as well.
I think he's excellent but he's fighting opponents with very limited skill sets. Certainly especially as amateurs, his opponents are good athletically but the ability to fight and to use boxing resources it's just so limited in this amateur paradigm these days.
Just wanted to give an example that demonstrates this point. When Alexander USYK fought Toney Bellew, who is a very skilled guy imo, he really had some problems there for a while. The problem was, he could not overwhelm Bellow technically, and was actually losing in the early part of the fight exchanges.
Iron Dan has made the point that the weight difference is large when we consider Beter against Quarry, and I believe this match proves this point! USYK One that fight by overwhelming Bellow... Being more physical in the later rounds, and imposing his size. And certainly there are similarities between how USYK and Beter came up, enough to look at this as an example of perceived versus actual advantages.

- - Nobody denies plenty of ol' timers like Dempsey or Tunney might whoop Artur, but the difference in them and Quarry is infinitely better. Quarry top heavy when cut free and motivated, but really, he was often in sloppy training and lacked the strict training discipline of Atur who never gets out of shape on binges inbetween fights.
Why would he bother taking this into consideration and the fact Quarry weighed in same day? It makes to much sense. He's not really the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

Sorry dannyboy, I didn't cry to anyone. Maybe you're just on their radar for being such a troll. You can't have a civil debate. But obviously im not wrong with my assessment of your intelligence because you still don't take into consideration Quarry weighed in same day and Beterbiev the day before, making them nearly identical in size. Good to see you went with Quarry though who beat the better competition. I guess you got that going for you.

- - Beter a natural 200lb Olympic Hvy. Quarry was a prime 190lber who took his 1st loss against a past it Eddie Machen who was 1-4-2 in his last 6 bouts.
Boxrec rules...Simples.
Quarry was never as disciplined physically. Certainly Quarry has a chance, but with 9 losses and 4 draws in a career, Beter the big betting fav...
You are aware of the fighters Quarry faced? Much better than even the great Valuev!
When Quarry fought Patterson he was 193. Early in Beterbiev's career he weighed in the mid 180's with day before weigh ins. Even at 175 and day before weigh ins he is known to put 10, 15lbs on by fight time. That makes them nearly identical in size.
