The fight wasn't even. Vitali was ahead, quit fooling your self by your biases. But like you said, Vitali needed Lennox to get his claim to fame. Now that Lennox is retired, there are no big fights for Vitali unless he fights his brother or Roy, but that ain't going to happen.
If it was an out of shape Lennox or not, it doesn't matter. In boxing it is about being in top condition every fight.
Technically you could say...
...if Vitali came in better shape he could have KO'd Lewis in 1.
...if DLH trained taking punches to the body, he may have came out on top.
...if Roy Jones' glove was an inch forward, he would have beat Tarver.
...if I got the best trainers and everything, I would be the one to knock off Hopkins.
However, it was a good fight none the less, but i didn't proved who was better that night. But it did prove that Lewis does not have a glass jaw like most people think.
lol your a typical Vitali fan, you say the same things over an over again, he was kicking lewis ass, he would have been knocked out in the next round, if lewis was getting his ass kicked so bad why wasnt his face busted up, or even knocked down in the fight, Vitali had the worst cut Ive ever seen on a boxer and it was rightfully stopped, I thought lewis was coming on in the 5th and 6th, if it went one more round the fight still would of been stopped.
See when I first watched it I thought williams won easy but there was alot of close rounds that could have gone either way, it much closer than I thought.
Just because he had alot of heart and was a exciting fighter, shouldnt put him in the HOF, what did he really give to boxing the gatti ward fights were exicting, but there was no skill involved in those fights.
Mayweather is hated way more then margarito is, I dont hate margarito its mostly his annoying fans, race has nothing do to with it. Acting like a sore loser after the williams fight, and only calling mayweather and not really any other elite fighters.
Hes more of a SW, but any good fighter with speed and power would beat him, but he still is a good fighter, dont get to carried away, gattis been knocked out in 3 of his last 4 fights.
I agree that tito would knock him out, because he has a much better chin and is a better over all fighter, but who has tito ever knockout, I mean titos best knockout win is over vargas, and his best win is a gift decision win against oscar, I just think his power is a little overrated.
I still dont understand why people think he should get in, I mean for what getting hit alot, the gatti ward fights were really entertaining but in the end there was no skill involved in those fights, losing bad to all the great fighters he ever faced and any of his good wins were hand picked opponents, I still think gatti is a c+ fighter at best, and dont think it would be fair to let him in the HOF because he has alot of heart and is a popluar fighter.
Thats why I want the fight to happen at 140, the hatton fans wont make accuses after floyd beats him, does hatton really expect floyd to move down after he,s been fighting at 147 for awile know, hattons been the one calling out floyd so he should be the moving up in weight, all the big fights are at 147.
I liked floyds entrance, we he fought oscar, naseem hamed jumping the ropes was one of the best, but my favorite tyson vs spinks, when tyson just came out with noise.
I had it like that, but scored round 4 to williams, he won that round easy, maybe the 6 round even, but still had it 115-113, and thats the closes it could be.
I agree with you Mcnulty, fighters who quit on the stool should just retire, if you are fighting just for the money, and to make it past the 12 round, dont discredit your legacy and cheat the fans.
I doubt cintron would ko williams, he has the power to knockout any ww, but could only last 5 rounds with margarito, Williams by Tko11 or UD cintrons only chance against williams is a early round Ko, margarito has a Iron chin and I doubt cintrons chin would hold up with williams output over 12 rounds.
Of course it was a factor, but your taking all the credit away williams his speed and punch out put was a big factor as well, those same punches that williams took in the 10 and 11 round knocked cintron down 3 times, I first thought williams won by four rounds, but rewatched it and only and had williams winning 115-113, so it was much closer than I thought, so I understand why some people want a rematch it was a great fight.
I say for as long as he wants to, he weighed in a 145 but after throwing so many punches he seemed to get tired in ther later rounds, but had a lot of energy in the Twelfth, he should try to get a fight with cotto or cintron and try to unify the titles.
Williams is my favorite fighter and you need to watch that fight a couple of times to see how close it was, but williams won that fight and finished the twelfth round like a champ, so give credit to both fighters, dont say that margarito was exposed I used to say that, he fought the most akward WW, and lost a close fight, and give credit to williams for taking those hard shots and outboxing him.
I think it would be a bad match up for mayweather, I mean hes only 5,8 and williams will pressure floyd alot more than oscar did, and if he could take flush shots from margarito, who is a slow puncher but throws hard loopying haymakers, and when they land there powerful, but I still think floyd will edge out a decision some how.
Oscar knocked out mayorga in 5, mayorga fought tito at middel weight hes more of a natural WW, the williams joppy ko is overrated, I think tito might have a little more power but cintrons Ko of walter was louder than the joppy KO.
I think williams has a good shot at winning a SD, williams could take floyds punches and would presser floyd the whole fight, williams has very fast hands and quick feet for his size.
