There are no reports about him haveing a hard time makeing 147. That I know of. He is young and his body will develop more. So it might be sooner rather than later that he has to move up in weight.
The 154lbs division is open for the taking at this point. You have carlos and forrest fighting for a belt that mayweather gave up. Oscar is hinting at a fight at 147lbs. Ouma has decided to keep fighting at 154. So spinx is the only real champion in that division.
154lbs would be a great place for williams. In his last fight with margarito he weight in at 162 once the bell sounded. So he can move and have a great output with 17 pounds added on. He has the body to move up all the way to 168, in time of course.
My question is how long should paul try to make 147 before moveing up in weight?
My answer to my own question is this, he should fight cintron and unify the belts then move up. A fight with mosely that he wants would be good but there is a big chance of loseing. A rematch with margarito would be even closer and I think margarito would start faster. FYI final punch stats don't mean shit, fights are won one round at a time, 7 rounds to 5 for williams, close fight to say other wise is people just looking at final punch stats and not scoreing the fight
I say for as long as he wants to, he weighed in a 145 but after throwing so many punches he seemed to get tired in ther later rounds, but had a lot of energy in the Twelfth, he should try to get a fight with cotto or cintron and try to unify the titles.
it didnt seem to affect him bunch. he throw over 1000 punches in the first 10 rounds, but seeem to get a little tired in the 11th but had alot left in the 12. i say he should stay because all the big fights are at welterweight.
I agree if he was totally drained he would have never kept that pace and fell apart in the later rounds. Plus the big checks are at WW and I bet he'll get to that weight with the millions in sight.

forget williams.. how long will cotto make it ... cotto walks around over 180
he'll make 147 as long as he has the descipline ang hunger.
BHop competed @160 for as long as he wants. He was able to do that because of his dedication and hunger.
The marquez brothers move up because of bigger fights they didnt have trouble making 118 and 126.
its up to the fighters actually.
*Dont give excuses to lazy fighters that cant make their most competitive weight <== ive read this in this forum somewhere
uhh, dont u mean JOEL julio? he's too young and inexperienced for the likes of williams yet. out of all these, clottey would be the best choice for paul, but i say he beats any of those guys, with clottey giving the most trouble.
LOL yuh Joel. Jorge Julio was the Marlions closer at the start of the season. he isnt anymore because he had 8 save oppurtunities and blew 5 of them. he still haunts me.
Collazo would be a better fir then Julio, but Collazo is coming off a loss. I guess you can throw Quintana in the mix if he can get back to winning ways. There is alot the Punisher can do. even a rematch with Margs isnt a bad idea. he can go another 12 with Margs with no heat.
He should move up after two or three "defenses" of his "title" and then go up to 154.. I see him beating Spinks, would have a good one with "The Kid", could add a nice notch to his blet if he beat Baldomire convincingly, Forrest would be an, interesting match up, and I don't care who wins, It'd be a great fight with Ouma.. Also, Mayorga isn't out of the question, as just "someone to beat" lol.. He could then be in prime postion after picking out of that bunch, to move up to middleweight and be a pretty big star in his own right...
Pwill is actually almost 6'2
If the Punisher doesnt get a unification bout(or a Mosley bout), which he wont, there are other options for his 1st defense.
Alfonso Gomez. reason: why not? there would already be a profile for this fight. Paul vs the dude that beat Gatti on the same TV card he won his title on.
Jorge Julio. reason: a semi-dangerous opponent. Julio is ranked high and is hungry. Only thing is, I dont know if Julio's handler wanna put him in with Williams, but if they want a title shot, its right there for the taking.
Ricardo Mayorga. reason: Mayorga said he was going back down to 147 if he gets past Vargas.
Joshua Clottey. reason: respect. all the internet fan boys love Clottey and think he is the real deal.

I nknow he wieighed in at 145, but he looked really drained, and with the amount of weight he put on in the 24hrs it's obvious he just totally sweated it out
He's just built differently. Its weird how the body works. Cotto looks so frail at the weigh in and hes only 5'7, and Cintron and Margarito look lean and ripped and they are 5'11.

yeah but he made weight by almost 2 pounds. shouldnt be to hard, the guy isnt a naturally big guy, he is naturally that skinny.
lol, some weird looking guy, true
H should only stay there for 2 or 3 more fights, and i have a feeling that people aren't going to be lining up to fight him, if he cant get Cotto, then fight Cintron, Mayweather wont come back for him, so should move up, could skip 154 altogether not much going on up there, maybe get Taylor or Pavlik,
P.S Pavlik would murder him
i dont know probably until he gets a BIG paycheck he will do his best to make weight i doubt it will be more than a year, you are right unofficially against margarito he weigh 162lbs damn!!!! middleweight
