From a boxing fan's point of view the fight was a bit boring. But from a casual fan's point of view it was exciting. Casual fans are the majority compared to regular boxing fans.
I dont see anyone bringing in enough money for GBP to be able to pay Floyd $40mil. Except for Pacquiao. But Pac vs Floyd will never happen unless Pac leaves Top Rank or if Arum suffers a massive heart attack or maybe some crazed boxing fan stabbing him to death for preventing this super fight from happening..
Here we go again!!! Pac vs Floyd will never happen!!! And its neither Pac nor Floyds fault... As long as Pac is still under contract with Top Rank this fight will not be made!!! Arum will be talking about making it happen but in reality, he wont do squat!!!
when bob arum comes out and says hes talking to al haymon about a floyd fight thn ill take him seriously..bob has jessie vargas on tap for you guys next year..al haymon has miguel and sanny lined up for floyd..i dont care if floyd never figfhts pac the show must go on..
You speak of Floyds legacy in fighting Cotto but you dont care if he doesnt fight Pacquiao? THE top 2 pound for pound fighters, both considered to be ATGs in the same weight class? Are you a boxing fanatic? A casual fan? Or exclusively a Floyd fanatic? Are you in any way related to, employed by or somehow benefit from Floyd financially? Because if you are then i can understand.
I hope this fight happens in may..this is the fight that will define floyd's legacy as TBE.. taking cotto's WBC/Ring title at 160 would place floyd in a class all by himself..
no fighter in history has won 6 WBC titles in 6 weight classes and no fighter has won 5 lineal titles! floyd should make pac wait till september or even make him wait till he is 49-0 then the pac fight will mean something..right now cotto is the fight that I want to see.
According to Floyd, Legacy don't pay the bills. He fights for money and the biggest fight out there for him is Pacquiao. Besides why would he fight Cotto when he already beat him convincingly. Why not fight Pacquiao? What's holding him up? Don't tell me you do not want to see Pac vs Floyd? If so, please explain why?
P.S. I personaly dont mind seeing him fight Cotto again. It will be better than fighting Khan but ffs atleast put in an effort in trying to make the fight with Pacquiao a priority then if it falls thru consider Cotto.
I remember putting in my bet immediately after this fight was announced and got +700 odds for Pac. The closer the fight the lower the odds. I remember it dropping to +300 after the weigh in. This is the fight that got me hooked into betting on fights. So far i only lost twice so Im good.
Floyd won the fight fairly. It might've been boring to watch to the casual fan but he won it. Pac knew what he was getting into but just couldn't adjust and penetrate Floyd's defense. Not all fighter's will stand in the middle and trade specially not Floyd.
60/40 split with lions share going to Floyd is fine with me. Actually the split can be 99/1 for whoever and as long as the guy getting less agrees its ok with me. I wont see a single cent from it anyway.
If boxing is to thrive on "Prime time TV" then all they have to do is put in real fighters not "Boxers". Casual fans really do not care about announcers, commentary and ring walks. As long as the fight is exciting and full of action then nothing else matters. Slick fighters= boring fight to most if not all casual fans and boxing needs more casual fans for it to thrive on prime time tv.I think they should thank Guerrero for saving the night for them because he made the event casual fan friendly. If they start putting in fights like that of Broner vs Molina then boxing won't last long on prime time tv. Maybe giving the fighters a bonus for knocking down and knocking out their opponent will help to make the fight more lively and action packed.
Casual fans like to watch a brawl. They do not understand the sweet science. Unfortunately there is not enough real boxing fans to keep the sport marketable on mainstream tv unless you have exciting fights to keep the casual fans entertained. What Al Haymon is doing is good for boxing but he needs to find fighters that will slug it out til the end or one gets ktfo. Otherwise this venture of his will not last long on mainstream tv.
from what I've read there won't any other hotels on the strip that will carry the fight apart from MGM properties. Your best bet is off the strip at some local sports bar. I live in southwest part of Las Vegas and the Hooters Bar close to my house always shows PPV fight but I think it's best to call them first just to be sure.
I'm not sure why Floyd insists on getting Bob out of the picture. If its true that they agreed to purse split, venue, drug testing. Why does he care so much that Bob is in the picture. As long as Bob's cut isn't coming from Floyd's 60% of the purse, that shouldn't bother him. If Arum is conning Manny out his purse then that's Manny's problem.
I like both Pacquiao and Mayweather but will be rooting for Pacquiao because I'm Filipino. However if I would be putting money on the line I would be betting on Floyd. Most people here do not understand how good Mayweather is defensively. Pacquiao has a lot of stamina but what most people do not understand is how tiring it is if you keep missing your target. Floyd will not stand in front of manny and trade. Manny will miss a lot and eventually get tired and frustrated which I'm hoping will not happen but unfortunately might be the case.
Just don't see this happening. If Pacquaio moves up to 154, Canelo wins and people would say Pac was just too small.. If canelo drops at a catch weight of 150-152, they will also say he was drained and a shelf of himself if Pac wins..
As much as I'd love for them both to fight since they both are crowd pleasers, physically it just doesn't match up.
This is what i thought too.
I agree with Marquez. Having fought both Pac and Floyd i think he is the best person to give an assesment on how it will go down. Pacquiao has a very big casual fan base, which includes me and most will be biased to Pacquiao understandably. Ive been a fan of Pacquiao since the first barerra fight but Ive always thought Mayweather has the edge and still do. Thats why i want to see this fight! Who ever wins i know i win too because i get to see the 2 legends fight!!
I for one dont need to see a 5th fight. But if Marquez is saying he wants a belt at 147lbs then I think Pac is his best option. Because he already knocked him out once why not do it again and this time also get the most money he could ever get in his entire boxing career. Unless ofcourse he thinks he only got lucky last time they fought...
Watching the replays between rounds halfway thru the fight I already know that Cotto will be robbed. HBO was manipulating it by showing replays of Canelo's 1-2 landed punches for each round. Clearly if you score the fight fairly Cotto would've won.
Same as Floyd is a very dangerous fight for Pacquiao. Pacquiao also hasn't faced someone like Floyd. Always in shape, greatest defensive boxer of this generation, great speed, timing and counter punching ability, one of the smartest boxers that can figure out opponents mid fight.
You lost manny. I hope you watch the tape and come out with a statement saying "after watching the fight on tape I saw that Floyd won the fight fairly" nothing more nothing less. I am a big fan but I know what I saw and that's you losing the fight fairly. You can't say Floyd won by hugging, potshotting, back pedaling or running because that's part of boxing and because you suppose to know that already. You lost because you cannot adapt and penetrate Floyds defense.
Floyd fought his game plan and it was near perfect. It was boring, yes. But he got the win. Was it good for boxing? IMHO no. Casual fans enjoy the all out wars. Unfortunately, if boxing is to prosper then it needs exciting fights that are fan friendly and full of action that will entertain rather than bore the fans.
Manny isn't going to miss his shots as much as you think. He's going to get in some good ones that will definitely hurt Floyd. Also, unlike Maidana, Pacquiao will most likely follow up on his attacks.
I hope you are right because if Pacquiao misses and gets frustrated he will start over reaching and that could spell disaster for him. Assuming Floyd still hasn't slipped that far and still has great timing.
I just rewatched Pac vs Algieri and Pacquiao got hit with too many right hand leads from Algieri. Pac has a great chin and Chris doesn't hit that hard but I think with Floyds precision Pac might get hurt coming in if Floyd times his punch right.
Anyway I will be rooting for Pacquiao to win and hopefully he does... I put money on all of Pac and Mayweather's fights but this time I will just have to enjoy it without betting.
If What Floyd is saying is accurate then the only person we should be thanking for this fight happening is Bob Arum. Think about it for a second, if Bob wasn't stealing money from Pacquiao then Pacquiao wouldn't be broke and desperate.
Thanks Bob Arum.!!!
Maybe Floyd Sr. should have someone read to him and explain the contents of the settlement suit before he spouts some more BS that could land him into more monetary damages.
This is exactly right. Nonito is a professional fighter and he needs a professional team and that includes his MANAGER. I have nothing against his wife, but I think having his wife as his manager sends the wrong message and makes him look like an amateur, ***** whipped kind of guy.
