dont think he should be compared to Clottey at all. Clottey fought at his natural weight of 147 unlike Narvaez who was moving up. There was no excuse on Clottey's part not to engage Pacquiao like he did against the likes of Cotto, Judah and Corrales. Clottey basically disgraced himself or fought the fight with an injured hand. (something i suspect)
i really have a hard time believing someone from Ghana could have been such a pu55y.
Great! Thanks!
I see what you mean. I was just stating not necessarily a direct comparison to Clottey, just more that he was showing a defensive shell throughout the fight. I understand that that Narvaez was moving up, but for 12 rounds you have to throw more punches than what he did to win a fight, make a statement in a new weight class, and be recognized here on American soil. Just a thought. I never really thought of a hand injury. Was it ever stated by him or his team? I just clearly don't remember and just asking.
George Foreman, Juan Diaz, Rocky Juarez. I'm sure there are more that are more from Houston, TX but I am unsure if they were born in Houston. I was actually a classmate of Diaz in college.
Well, I think we have to see which fights are on these undercards, but I think I know what you mean. Personally, I have felt that Goldenboy does have the better planned undercards. I do hope when the fight is made between Pacquiao and Bradley that Top Rank puts on a good undercard to help the PPV numbers because Bradley isn't well known by the casual fans.
Seeing how I don't get any of the money, I don really care how many PPV buys it does but for fun I'd say less than 1.35. Not significantly less, but less.
This is stupid.
-- TR will NOT use JCC JR, Rios, Gamboa, JuanMa, or Nonito. Maybe, just maybe you'll get Rigo but that's it.
I think they could use Rios, haven't they done so before? I think it would make sense. Plus, I think it would make sense to put Marquez-Perterson on the undercard as well especially if they are planning a tournament between Pacquaio-Bradley.
lol why people keep saying that you haven't been to a restaurant or gone out for last 4 years? its freakin $60 man I pay more then that when I take my girl to a movie
Ca'mon Son! $1 Theater is where it's at! lol.
Whether it's implied that Cotto is a no-hoper or not by Martinez is just speculation. He might have not said it directly, but it could be interpreted as such or not. It depends on the person who reads it. Personally, I don't think Martinez cares if he is a no-hoper or not. It goes back to my original point: It's all about the money. Also I personally do not think Cotto is no-hoper but that is just a personal opinion in which everyone is entitled too. Some people think he is, some don't. I'm not flaming anyone, this is too my personal opinion.
if its all about money, then martinez should realize that pac is in it for the money too, not to sit atop some mythical p4p list and stop contradicting himself
True, True. But does Martinez have the popularity with the casual boxing fans? IMO, he doesn't and thus will not give Pac as big as a payday as Mosley which has better name recognition among the casual boxing fan. The fight between Pac and Martinez would only make monetary sense for Martinez and not so much Pac.
Well, Cotto-Margarito haven't been made just yet. If it does which the majority believe it to be so then...
As a boxing fan: Damn. :nonono:
Personal reaction: Good for Cotto/Maragrito winner and Pac. Casual boxing fans know who these fighters are and its another payday for them because of that. Arum would have to do a little extra work though since Pac already beat them though.
You know, you are right to point out that he wants to fight Cotto, and yet he openly critizes Pac for fighting "no-hopers". It's contridictory.
From a financial perspective, I don't think Martinez is the ducking kind; I personally think he finally sees his own worth from his resent streak and making the demands for better paydays i.e., Cotto, Pac, Mayweather etc.
Martinez blasts through Kirkland IMO, Sturm & Pirog would have more risk little reward.
I agree that he contradicts himself but calling out Pac will render him a great payday and if he defeats him will also set him atop of the p4p list which has been a dream of his. Cotto will just give him a payday. Is all about the money these days. Sorry, but if I were in Martinez's shoes, I would do the same. It might not make sense to boxing fans, but it does make sense monetary wise.
I have no hate for Mosley. I was a fan of his way back when and am a fan now. Frankly I congratulate him for getting the chance to face Pac. It's a great payday. Do I choose him to win the fight? No, but that doesn't mean I hate on him. I'm just going with the odds and too hopefully win some bets. That's it.
Mike Tyson's Punchout for NES! Lol.
In all seriousness, I went to college with Juan Diaz. I took a photo with him and he signed it for me. I also have a picture that I took with Winky Wright.
I am honestly rooting for Diaz to win. He was a classmate of mine at the University of Houston Downtown. I think he needs to protect himself a little more and watch out from getting cut. On the undercard, I will like to see Guerrero, Juarez, and Jacobs win.
Yeah, belts don't mean much as they did in the past, though I still enjoy watching title fights. So in the end, there are no rule enforcement aganist title defenses and getting stripped. It's a damn shame.
I would like to see Ortiz/Maidana @ 147 for Ortiz's title. I would like to see Arce/Vasquez Jr. rematch as well. I really don't care if a Khan/Prescott rematch is ever made, but if so, I'd watch it.
Could Martinez somehow sue the WBC for not obeying it's own rules by not giving him an immediate title shot due to his Emeritus Champion status? Is it possible him being an Argentina citizen and the WBC being a organization in Mexico? Just wondering.
What about an all Houston bout with Rocky Juarez in Houston? Just a thought. Might not be worth anything to either fighter but it be cool in my opinion only if it were in Houston. I'd go.
I don't mind that Paul Williams wants to fight at a weight of 157 or that the WBC belt is at stake since that in within the middleweight range. Whats not right is that he wants Sergio to do the same even though Middleweight is up to 160lbs.
Sometimes I run into someone who I can talk about boxing with, but I think the reason is because I go to the University of Houston Downtown and this is where Juan Diaz graduated from. Lot of people that I talk to bring him up, but every now and then I run into a person who knows what they're talking about outside of his career. There has actually been times that I am on the computer at the school looking at boxing clips or browsing boxing news and people stop and sit next to me and start talking about boxing. Most common topic though is Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather though, but 2 days ago I was talking to someone at school about the junior welterweights.
Frankly, I don't care if they do a same day PPV event. I don't see any of the cash anyways. To be honest, I'd like for them to go head to head with each other just to see who does better numbers out of curiosity. Chavez Jr. or Canelo. I personally will be buying Chavez Jr. Vs. Martinez.
This totally blows and I will never watch another Dirrell fight. Why didn't they just put his brother in the ring instead, they look alike. LOL. O well, I guess I'll be watching the HBO Triple Header that night instead. I was probably gonna watch it anyways.
Alvarez will walk away with a clean slate. He's a protected fighter inside and out of the ring.
Probably so. Those who have the money or bring the money typically walk away with the clean slate whether it's in boxing, politics, celebrities, or just everyday people. But I want to doubt that he did actually do because he is what? 21 years old? He has a lot going for him but us young people do sometimes do stupid things. It's hard for me to doubt though.
Awesome. Simply Awesome. Congrats to Bhop.
It was funny when Max Kellerman said that there is a nervous energy in the room because I had that same feeling at the time. Nevertheless, Bhop put on a great performance and became a record holder again. Does he have more records in boxing beside most title defenses at middleweight and oldest champion?
