With people from other fan bases? If so, is it the same as NSB? Do you call Cotto fans eyepluckers and knee takers, call Pinoys dog eaters, Mayweather fans monkeys and mock them with KFC buckets?
I had a random conversation the other day, with 4 people in a restaurant, that knew about boxing as much as hardcore boxing fans. They were two Mayweather critics and two Mayweather fans. But it was cool, nobody trash talked or dissed nationality or got racist.
It's also like this in many sports forums I have been to.Like baseball, football, basketball, users are respectable to each other and no one gets out of line with eachother.
So why is everyone so hostile when it comes to discussing boxing on the internet? It's like rival gangs going at it.
Sometimes I run into someone who I can talk about boxing with, but I think the reason is because I go to the University of Houston Downtown and this is where Juan Diaz graduated from. Lot of people that I talk to bring him up, but every now and then I run into a person who knows what they're talking about outside of his career. There has actually been times that I am on the computer at the school looking at boxing clips or browsing boxing news and people stop and sit next to me and start talking about boxing. Most common topic though is Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather though, but 2 days ago I was talking to someone at school about the junior welterweights.
Only to a couple of friends but they are very limited in boxing knowlege. Im so far ahead of them It's not even worth a discussion, as I end up getting carried away chatting about other contenders, it completely throws them off! They know Pacquiao, Mayweather, K'bros, or any widespread boxer in the media but that's about it, what they read in the paper is all they know about boxing! That being said, I do know some who have a half descent knowlege, where I can talk boxing to them to a certain degree. I prefer to interact here in a ideal world though because this is the only place I can talk boxing very deep with other users, this is nearly possible for me in the UK! Boxingscene is my only real home to chat boxing :(
The only person I talk boxing with in real life is my uncle. We used to watch the HBO cards whenver they were on.
We don't really talk about Pac-Floyd or really have any favorites or rivalries. We just talk about fights we've seen and upcoming ones.
Yeah, but most of my friends are casual boxing fans. Most of the people I know like MMA, but friends I end up getting close with end up becoming boxing fans, lol. I know only a few hardcore fight fans. I have discussions, but never as serious as gets on this site.
A lot of my friends are pactards of all races, not just Filipinos. It's kind of my fault since a lot of my friends got into boxing because of me and Pac is my favorite boxer. So my friends get hyped for his fights.
A Pacquiao fight plus good friends, beer, pizza, and good smoke sounds like a fun to me.

Yes..............
i have them all the time with friends and co-workers, but the only thing is, no one is into boxing like me or is even close to being somewhat knowledgeable enough to have a real discussion and i tend to dominate the convo. basically because i can go more into depth about fights and match making, etc.
i come here to chat it up or argue because there are people here who share my enthusiasm of boxing........ others are just plain dildo's here too though, and they know who they are............ don't ya dildo's.......
All my friends are huge MMA fans and don't know jack about Boxing other than Ali and Tyson. Only time I get to really talk about Boxing is on here or answering a question on Yahoo Answers. :nonono:
because being an internet tough guy and Keyboard Killa is so much easier than having to defend yourself in real life.
god forbid someone disagrees with your opinion.
Boxing isn't that big in England right now? That is a very, very, very bad sign for boxing. That's like saying soccer isn't big in brazil anymore.
Yea it's a hella bad sign, I was over in Greece not long ago and the people over there were more interested then they are here, that's saying something.
It just doesn't seem to get enough coverage in England anymore.
Although David Haye has started somewhat bringing the sport back to the public despite not fighting K2.
I only have one friend who watches boxing, so that's the only time I get to talk about it. We like the same fighters though so I never get to talk boxing with an opposing fan base. As far as the ridiculous **** talking and childish name calling, that doesn't happen often in real life unless you are talking to a kid or a complete loser. Its bad enough to do it on the internet if you are over the age of 12, so if the people who talk like that in here do it in real life that's sad.
What about the Dirrell-Abraham fight was he protesting?
he thought dirrel faked it blatantly and got away with it. i dont see it that way but i respect him so we still talk he'll probably watch the gamboa salido fight this saturday but believe it or not he's not on the gamboa hype train inspite of the nationalism in common.
An old cuban guy i work with. he knows alot but he quit watching since the dirrel abraham fight as protest to what he thought was bull**** i disagree with him but hes an older cat and i respect his opinion.
