We all know that Amir Khan wants to fight Juan Manuel Marquez if he wins tonight aganist Diaz. If JMM does win and makes a fight with Khan, why dosen't the WBA strip Khan of his title for not facing his mandatory Marcos Maidana? My real question is, what are the rules aganist title defenses, unifications, and stripping of titles for any sanctioning body? He already had a voluntary defense aganist Paulie Malingnaggi and its time for him to either unifiy with the other champions or defend aganist his mandatory, right? Thank you.
I believe Pacquiao has been stripped as ring champ at 140 he is no longer the champ on the site.
this guy is right...he's no longer the champion on rings site either.
and the ring title that manny pacquiao won from ricky hatton at 140! there are no more "rules." the sanctioning bodies seem to have a commission that decides what its champion should do next after reviewing his position in the sport, what fights are there for him and what fee money is there for them.
the rings rules are different. the title can only be lost in the ring or vacated due to retirement or official abandonment of the weight class...i think. either way its clear manny isn't fighting at 140 anymore.

]If the WBA is getting money, they might be content to let Khan do what the hell he wants. Sense don't always matter with the governing bodies. If Maidana is cleared to fight then Khan should definitely fight him, or at least somebody else at his weight class. Diaz or JMM would be fine if both hadn't flopped above 135, but they did flop, so Khan is gonna lose some credibility over this. I wouldn't mind seeing him get stripped, but no guarantee he does.
i'm pretty sure the sanctioning fees they collect are a percentage of the purse. for them it makes more sense to have the title with a bigger money fighter...which seems to be the direction khan is headed.
Yeah, belts don't mean much as they did in the past, though I still enjoy watching title fights. So in the end, there are no rule enforcement aganist title defenses and getting stripped. It's a damn shame.
One could ask the same about the WBA, IBF and IBO - Marquez hasn't defended those belts in 1.5 years. :laff2:
marquez never had the ibf and ibo titles
hes the wba/wbo/lineal champ
