Toney would be a nightmare for kovolev, and I think the hardest matchup for him..
A light heavy hopkins would always get outpointed, maybe not as wide, but hopkins would never take the risks needed to best kovolev.. Hopkins 07-08 would get beat 115-113 type fight..
Jones, the easy answer would be roy, but roy never fought anyone like kovolev at 175.. I think that's a real 50/50 fight at 175, and I think the combination of kovolev's decent boxing fundamentals n technique combined with the firepower, it would easily be the most threatening opponent roy faced at 175
No, Roy would potshot from long range quite easily. Hopkins would take him close, smother him and box from the outside if need be. Toney picks him apart both from close to mid range, Toney has the chin to fight his fight.
Easy? you act like kovalev cant box. He's control on distance is second to none.
Toney has an ATG chin. Kovalev wouldnt KO him like he's doing to these other guys. Toney would frustrate Kovalev and beat him. If we're talking P4P then a prime Hopkins would beat him too. I think the age and Kovalev's power made Hopkins gunshy. I dont think that would had happened vs a younger BHop. I'd say Roy would beat him too but what if that 1 punch landed? Lol
He is good enough to beat all 3. Hopkin's was a MW, he'd never be able to match Kovalev. Toney couldn't deal with the activity level or movement. Roy would have the best chance of the 3 but he could've gotten put to sleep also.
The toughest fight for Krusher would be Toney, IMO.
Styles make fights. Prime Toney was 168 pounds. But I think he would be close to prime at 175. His counterpunching and good chin would be there all night for Krusher. Really hard to see Krusher taking out Toney.
Roy Jones may be able to finesse and potshot with his handspeed for 12 rounds. RJJ didn't have the 1-2 shot KO power at 175 like he did at 160/168. So I don't think he could take out Krusher. But he might buzz him or even rock him good occassionally. My concern for Jones would be "what if" Krusher tagged him good with that monster right? His left hook isn't bad either. I have to be honest. He could KO Jones. Would he?? I'm not sure. We're talking prime Jones. It would be exciting.
I think Krusher beats Hopkins at any age. Prime Hopkins would win more round though. Might be a split decision. It would be narrower,...but I see Kovalev pulling it off. :hail:
Krusher is a big puncher........I think you are over looking krusher...I think even a prime rjj.would have a tough time with this guy..

I think you're all overestimating LHW James Toney. Kovalev would definitely make that a fight and could certainly win.
Hopkins is tougher, and prime Roy a tall, tall task for anyone.

Once again, power can be neutralized quite easily with skill. A prime RJJ, Toney and Hopkins were SUPREMELY skilled fighters that would easily neutralize Kovalev's power and then what? He can't outbox any of them.

there is no comparison with a prime roy jones dude was fast and had power. Imagine him landing hooks on kov
Must people do this after every ok win?
He loses to all 3. And goodness gracious the things a prime RJJ would do.

This is tough. I think he beats any version of Hopkins, the other two is a toss up. I think he could control distance and outbox toney. Jones is the toughest fight, just not sure he can handle what kovalev sends back.
