Watched Cotto vs. Mosley again as I ate breakfast. And I must say Cotto was way faster then him. He beat him to the punch most of the fight. He timed Mosleys punches at will. His jab barely missed and he was snapping Shanes head back all night.
So how do you think the speed difference will be in this fight?

I ask this because after watching that fight closely. Mosley did not look that fast at all. It wasnt because Cotto is this speed demon it was because Cotto was timing him PERFECTLY. Shane didnt let his hands go that much in fear of getting a crisp counter shot in his face. So in essence Cottos timing and speed made Cotto the faster fighter.
Now vs. Mayweather: Who times fighters better then Floyd? Who is more accurate then Floyd? Who has better reflexes? Who is smarter then Floyd? Then you have Floyds handspeed. Who I still think is faster then Pacquiao. Floyd throws the one punch alot faster then Pac throws his one punch. But Pac strings Combos better. But anyway I think the speed gap will be night and day in this fight. I actually feel Floyd will make Shane look slow. Floyd looks to be in much better shape then in the JMM fight and they are working on combos and handspeed in camp. People say Floyd was rusty vs. JMM Idont see it. I see him carrying extra weight and he was still blazing fast and still had INSANE reflexes.
Heres some hi-lights put together of the JMM fight showing just his reflexes:
The first 2:50 is the JMM-Floyd stuff.

I told yall the speed difference would be INSANE.
I expect floyd to win, about 9-3.
I dont think Shanes speed is enought to bother floyd. Floyd has faster hand speed but also faster reflexes. I think that Floyd wont have much problems slipping shanes shots despite their speed and mayweather will be coming back and catching shane with counters.
I think shane will come out aggressive early but mayweather is too slick on the inside and will tie him up and block his shots and over the course of the fight we will see more of a chess match in Floyds favor. Shane can only win with pressure, he isnt outboxing floyd at mid or far distances.
Mayweather the faster with single shots by clear margins but Mosley can still occasionally put together a quick combination. 10 years ago it might have been different.
Yeah I agree on Floyd clearly being faster with his single punches. The thing is with Shane and his combos is that due to Floyds speed, countering and reflexes hes rarely hit with combos.

Anyone who thinks Floyd is much faster is wrong. They're about the same, but Floyd has impeccable and untouchable timing. His timing is so good, it makes him look faster, but he's not.
You must've the skipped the part in my post where I talked about that. I mentioned this.

Floyd is definetly a lil faster. Mosley isn't as fast as he used to be, and his legs aren't what they used to be either. Once your legs go in that ring, its just a matter of time

I think Floyd is a bit faster, and his timing is the best in the game.
But, i think Shanes pressure and longer reach could pose some problems, other than that Floyds footwork is underrated aswell, he can put people off just by shifting feet.
Im banking for Shane, but think Floyd's got this...
I read somewhere that Floyd stated he would fight Shane again even if he beat him, is this true??
I think the reach will make little to no difference in this fight. Floyd will still be able to beat mosley to the punch whenever he wants to. Shane fights flat footed to much. I think a large part of the fight floyd will fight in the pocket though. We shall see in 5 days.
Floyd's timing was a tad off against Marquez, I thought. Just a touch.
Yeah I caught that too he seemed a bit anxious... I think he'll be better on may 1st.

The difference is more in the reflexes than the speed, Mosley was quicker than Mayweather in his prime imo so i dont expect there to be that much difference now, that said his reflexes will be considerable slower due to his age.
Roy Jones is still quick, not as a quick as he was, but its his reflexes that are dramatically slower than they were.

Mosley is faster than floyd is....in camp.
He pitty pats the mits and what not is why. In actual fights tho, his punches come pretty wide, so it gives the perception that they are slower.

I am a Floyd fan and although I think your logic isnt far off.... one thing you failed to address is Mosley's perception of Cotto's size and power vs. Floyds size and power.
Mosley respects Cottos size and power. But when Cotto was ALSO able to time Shane, he was never able to make the adjustments because he didnt plan for it. Cottos stiff jab and willingness to throw it early and often made Mosley respect him.
Mosley has no respect for Floyds size and power. He does expect Floyd to time him and counter well. However, Floyd is not know for having a stiff jab OR for his willingness to engage OR for his desire to be the first to get his shots off.
Different style.... different fight
I see Floyd needing to be willing to engage a little more than he is used to early in the fight (because he cant afford to give up early rounds like he did against Judah, Hatton, or DLH..... Mosley is just too good) and out box Mosley early. If he can get ahead on the cards then he can force Mosley to open up and try to land bigger shots to get back into the fight (which will play right into Floyds strategy).
Look to see a more offensive Floyd in the early rounds on May 1st or you may end up seeing Mayweathers 1st loss.
