Haha, I spared myself. Now I get to watch this snorefest for free on HBO this weekend.
it wasn't really a snorefest. pac made it somewhat interesting by punching for the both of them since clottey basically didn't. clottey is all to blame for this fight not being exciting which is very untypical for a fight involving pac.
pbf vs ssm is gunna piss all over that lol
this is a no-brainer. two very well-known american boxers with an HBO 24/7 promotional series fighting on US HBO PPV. can we expect anything less?
Pac & Hatton did 800K
:scared:
:?!:
a i remember, pac-hatton actually did 850-875k and that was in the bad economy of early last year. so, 700k for a clottey fight will be very respectable.
Everyone knows Floyd-Shane will shit on Pac-Clottey PPV wise. They will work something out.
this is obvious. two very well-known american boxers fighting with a 24/7 promotional series will definitely spell a windfall in US PPV buys.
No, it was a one sided freak show. Don't get me wrong, if you swallow Pac's cum, I understand why you'd find it entertaining. My friends were making fun of me for being a boxing fan that night. That should let you know what the casual fans thought about that farce.
no need for the insults. i never said that it was entertaining. i agree that it was very one-sided. but you can't blame pac for that. pac throws around 750-800 punches in these higher weights when the other guy is willing to fight back. clottey wasn't willing to engage and throw enough punches and that's why it became very one-sided w/ pac throwing 1200+ punches as a result.
once again
It took a 7.7 earthquake and Berto dropping out of the fight for Mayweather to fight a top WW.
And when Pac signed Clottey, Mayweather was talking to Nate Campbell, Mathew Hatton, and Pillow fist Paulie...
yep. that's the long and short of it.
if it reaches 700k, that will already be a respectable showing considering that clottey is a ghanian with no fanbase and was generally unknown to the casual fan.
pac performs according to what the opponent brings to him. for the cotto fight, cotto threw about 600 punches and pac responded by throwing around 780 of his own and landing 50% of them.
clottey threw <400 punches and pac had to up his workrate to 1200+ as a result since he was punching for the both of them to keep the fight interesting for the fans.
as for defense, pac showed very good D vs. de la hoya avoiding and blocking those left hooks and even against jmm in the rematch where he blocked, ducked and slipped punches while launching counters himself. the punch that kd'd jmm was actually a compact inside counter left hook.
if pac can take punches from big welters such as cotto, clottey and margarito, he can certainly take mayweather's punches which are weaker in comparison.
we'll see. but floyd actually has to get inside the ring w/ pac for that to even have a chance of actually happening. and remember, floyd has to get through mosley first.
this is simply nitpicking and fault-fnding. sure, pac got hit by some shots just like he got hit in the cotto fight. but he took them all well and hit clottey with much more punches thus the very lopsided decision. pac clearly staggered clottey with a right hook and a vicious body combo early in the fight. that's probably why clottey put those "earmuffs" on for the entire fight as he felt pac's strong punches early.
clottey also had a badly bruised right cheekbone. but it didn't look too bad since he is so dark-skinned unlike pac. and clottey now is probably feeling the effects of those 100+ body punches landed by pac which by itself equaled clottey's total punches landed for that fight.
pac connected about 108 body punches, equal to the total punches landed by clottey. i'm sure clottey is now feeling the effects of that body assault by pac.
you just found that out during this fight?! jmm in 2004 already was landing a right counter on pac. cotto was landing some uppercuts on pac too. pac took them all well though. drew/won vs. jmm, destroyed cotto and pitched a near shutout against clottey.
and you don't hit pac w/ an uppercut if he keeps moving around. if he stands flat-footed in front of you to convince you to engage more like turtle-shell clottey and back-peddling cotto, then he would get hit by some but still take it well and launch his own attack.
pac threw 1200+ punches since he had to punch for the both of them to keep the fight interesting to the fans. very high volume equates to lower connect percentage. in contrast, pac threw around 800 punches in the cotto fight since cotto threw around 600. as a result, pac had a great 49% connect rate in that fight.
clottey threw a total of only 399 punches landing only 108 for 27%. that total 108 punches is only equal to the body punches pac landed on him. a respectable connect percentage for <400 punches is around 40-45%.
just imagine a floyd vs. clottey fight with both only throwing around 400 punches for 12 rounds. that fight would've been extremely boring.
mayweather's defense is primarily geared towards conventional fighters who throw regular punches from a standard boxing stance. pac, on the other hand, is far from being conventional. he throws non-regular punches from unusual angles in a very unorthodox fighting stance. pac's left straight is like a combo of a cross, a straight and an overhand punch. pac's uppercut is a semi-hook/semi uppercut type of punch thrown from the hip. pac shoots from the hip with many of his punches.
that's why when they finally fight, that will be the first time mayweather will see such type of punches. mayweather can prepare all he can but no boxer can even come close to emulating pac in sparring.
pac threw 1200+ punches since pac had to punch for the both of them to keep the fight interesting for the fans. if clottey threw around 600 punches instead of <400, pac would've settled for around 800 punches with a better connect percentage like in the cotto fight.
pac was probably talking to clottey during their few clinches to engage more and make the fight entertaining for the fans.
