floyd isnt the prob its pac. and after getting hit at will by a no volume puncher like clottey and having most of his punches blocked...im damn sure roach isnt going to put pac in the ring with floyd
wtf???
the only reason pac got hit with anything was because he was trying to get clottey to try new things instead of standing there with a silly ****ing close guard.nearly every time clottey tried to get manny, manny managed to counter and catch clottey.imho it was a mismatch, clottey struggled and manny made him look slow....really slow.
Yes mayweather would beat yesterday pac easy, but what makes you guys think he'd fight mayweather the same way he'd fight clottey? That's why they have a coach, watch tapes, and formulate gameplans. jesus...
to quote Roger Mayweather "you dont know shit about boxing". Manny can be hit. thats not a surprise. been watching him get countered since his days @ 130. his offense inproved so much since that it helped his defense. he moves to the side instead of backing up, setting up for more offense. clottey just has really tough defense. he wasn't about to risk an all out war against Manny since he felt he could counter and hide in his shell. his gameplan would be great if the fight was for 20 rounds. what Clottey failed to do in the fight, is what makes the Floyd match up so interesting. There are different strategies to break a fighter down, and theres a big difference between how Manny chooses to break his opponents compares to Mayweather. With a fighter like Clottey, Cotto made himself vulnerable enough to make him open up. same with Zab. Manny's onslought, and Margarito's pressure had Clottey in his shell, countering when possible. those who think Floyd whould have a tough time fail to see how Floyd would choose to let Clottey think he has the better chance to come forward an open up, countering him in return. I love Manny's style, in that he will take one to give one, but he did not show anything new in this fight. He is a machine simple and plain, but until he is in the ring with someone who doesn't compliment his style we will never see a different side of him. The question is, can he adapt. so far he hasn't had to. maybe he will never have to.
Skilled counter punchers chop workrate in half.
I.e.- Floyd vs. Everybody
Williams vs. Quintana One
You can't compare Williams to Pacquiao bro lol. Williams throws no where near the speed or angles that Pacquiao is able to get off and land clean effective punches. All Williams had to do was use his reach (which somehow he hasn't been able to do yet at this stage).
Floyd will be able to counter Pacquiao, that I agree with. But where the trouble lies with Floyd IMO is with Pacquiao's consistency, speed, and angles. Floyd's never been in there with anyone who punches at the volume, combo speed that Pacquiao has.
But let's get passed May 1st before we talk Pac vs May though. Mosley at 39 is still a live dog with everything to gain and nothing to lose, sometimes those intangibles are deciding factors.
Clottey wasnt only catching him exchanges. He was catching him squared up with lead rights at will. He just wouldn't throw them. Clottey has to go from offense to defense with Mayweather there is no transition its one fluid motion. I dont see how Pac beats Floyd at all. Clottey also lead with....nothing. Not a jab to speak off. He lead with his hands at his ears. Floyd leads with jabs to the body and head and lead rights. Whatever Roach's gameplan is it better involve having a defense for a straight right hand or the fight wont last long. Floyd is on another planet then Clottey,
That's what I'm saying. Don't expect the Pac from yesterday to show up against Floyd.
Pac had no respect for Clottey. He won't fight that way against Floyd. He got away with his recklessness because his opponent had little power and only threw 1 at a time, which his chin could handle. Roach won't train Pac to just attack Floyd like that.

What punch did Pac get hit flush with over and over?

Clottey fights nothing like Floyd. I'm sure he's confident of beating Pac. But he's smart enough not to base that on what Clottey did or didn't do against him. Floyd's his own man and will fight his own fight. Last night has no bearing on the matchup other than making it more likely.

Volume punching kills a counter puncher.
Nobody in the WW division would have a virtuoso performance against Clottey. He defends, defends, but doesn't get off anything. Pacquiao has never been a fighter who hits and doesn't get hit, but for every 2 punches you throw, he's got 5-6 coming at you. For someone like Floyd who doesn't throw as much and relies heavily on defense and counter punching, he'd have to step out of his realm and actually throw at a higher output to be effective against Pacquiao.
I'm not one of these guys who's been saying Pac's gonna kill Floyd, but truthfully, Pacquiao's style today could be a big problem for Floyd. The Mosley fight for Floyd is going to be very telling.

I think PBF is thinking no way im fighting Pac without a blood test.
Lets say Pac's easy 2 hit, PBF will try and land 1 punch at a time and Pac will throw 7. Pac throws way 2 many punches for PBF 2 block them all. I think the way 2 beat Pac is a 1 punch kayo and dont think PBF can do that.
Styles Make Fights........
Anyone who has boxing IQ will tell you this fight wont be easy for any of the combatants.....But unlike Clottley, Floyd will be able to match foot speed and manuver Pac clockwise, squaring him up, making him hittable. (Pac wont be able to tee off on Floyd like he did on CLot) Keep in mind that Pac will also be able to tag Floyd though making this fight dangerous......
You really cnt compare Clot to FLoyd though and infer the outcome of a fight with Pac.....
Clottey is not and has never been a big puncher. I don't know where that theory comes from. Mayweather's punches are much sharper than Clottey's.
They are sharper and have more pinpoint accuracy and come in combos. Clottey is not in the same league as PBF. He is just bigger. Also when clottey keeps his shield very high he can't even see the openings that pac has left open to counter.
Diego Corrales was seen as this big monster when he was undefeated at 130 and yet PBF took him apart and KD like 5 times. People laugh at Baldomir but argentine fighters are among the most durable fighters out there and also awkward.
CLottey just wanted to collect a paycheck and say i lasted the full distance without getting knockdown.

True...If you look at Floyd and Clottey's common opponent in Corrales,Floyd stopped Diego when he was undefeated and knocked him down 5+ times...Clottey knocked him down 2 times I believe...and it was a much worst version of Corrales...
He is not that easy to hit. Most of the shots Clottey got in where because Manny forgot about defense after a 30 punch combination.
His defense is much improved in actual exchanges.
If he forgot about defense, then he has none!!! lmao
Floyd maybe smarter than Clottey but he definately don't hit at hard and I don't expect Mayweather to cover up nearly as much. I mean Clottey almost never came out of his shell, and as far as Pacquiao only landing 20% I'm laughing b/c how can you hit someone who is scared and covering up the entire night. I was more surprised Pacquiao didn't lose steam later in the fight as I thought he would and Clottey would nail him but Clottey was punished and I wouldn't be surprised if his ribs weren't cracked

How anyone can watch that fight and think Mayweather has an easy time with Pacquiao? It's not as if Pac would just sit in front of Mayweather like he did Clottey, he only did that because he could get away with it. Against Mayweather he would use much more movement since Floyd would be moving as well. Clottey is also a very effective puncher when he does punch, he landed on Margarito and Cotto at will as well. When he did open up Pacquiao countered and landed his combinations.
I saw a Manny Pacquiao with a great body attack, and very deliberate combination punching that would give Floyd all he could handle, just like Floyd would give Pac all he could handle.
