Hearn is not a promoter.
He's just a loudmouth salesman, addicted to money and his public image.
Lol you literally just described every promoter in the history of boxing
DeGale going to Hennessy is the best thing that could've happened to him.
Interesting... Is that coz you're happy he's fading away or coz you think it's a good move?
Why would I be happy he's fading away?
:lol1:
The exposure on channel 5 is enough of a good reason for DeGale to be with Hennessy. The matchmaking has been good too and he's come along a lot faster than what Warren was bringing him at.
He's only been with Hennessy since September of last year and recently fought in Canada against Demers. I can't see how the move would be considered bad.
Sorry, I haven't read your autobiography yet, should I know the famous D-MiZe is a degale fan?? lol
Anyway fair enough... I'd have to disagree with your points tho. Last fight on C5 got cancelled with no sign of him being on there again anytime soon and his last fight was on Wealth TV. Also Demers had lost his last 3 fights, and only fought 4 times since 2010, so don't think that was a big win.
Personally, if they fought again, I say Groves stops Degale mid-rounds.
Going to C5 for exposure didn't really work out for him then, coz hardly anyone I know other than big boxing fans watches.
I definitely don't think degale has improved since the Groves fight tho... I think you can see marked progression in Groves, from his stance to his power you can really see the Haye/Booth influence coming through now too. Degale trains in his own gym with a trainer who talks about him like the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson, its not a good look for a young fighter tryna evolve.
DeGale is talking about wanting Ward and Froch but it feels hollow, like he doesn't really want them. There's a bit of the Andre Dirrells about DeGale.
I don't think these two fighting each other proves much in terms of getting Froch, they should have to beat someone like Stieglitz imo.
Yeah I do agree with what you've said there really.. I just want to see Groves KO DeGale and end what little hype he has left. I also think Hearn could put on a massive show full of "up & comers" with his stable now.
Saying that I wouldn't complain at a Groves Vs Steiglitz fight at all.
I thought Groves-DeGale was a 50/50, I had it a draw or maybe even for DeGale, but he's got worse while Groves has kept improving.
Yeah true.. I reckon Eubank Jr will be the next to look to jump over to Matchroom.
Everything you said about DeGale is sad but true too. Probs only went with Hennessey coz he was the only one who massaged his ego and told him what he wanted to hear...
There could be a way to make the biggest fight ever in England with a mixture of these guys (albeit in a fantasy world)
De Gale vs winner of Bika / Periban - WBC Title
Groves vs Stieglitz - WBO Title
De Gale vs Groves - WBO / WBC
Winner vs Froch
... If only!
Now we're talking!! The Groves part of that is probably a stong possibility too... Shame I can't see Fat Mick delivering Degale that Bika-Periban winner, and not even sure DeGale would beat either anyway.
But yeah, Groves-DeGale II in a world title unification would be MASSIVE in Lodnon.
This is win win for Fury if he looses he can still tarmac Hayes drive of his new house that he buys with his purse
Random comment of the week award goes to chowga... Congrats.
Hope this fight comes off tho, will be a massive event with a lot of hype around it and two proper characters. I see a big KO victory for Haye too which is what the general public wanna see when two heavyweights collide.
Yeah this could be a good long-term move... Coz if it does land on the same card and Matthysse sparks Garcia out in devastating fashion and Floyd beats Canelo, imagine the excitement for Mayweather Vs Matthysse at 147lbs. Showtime could really get the most out of this deal with Mayweather if it went down like that.
I believe there is such thing as having a card being "too stacked"
From a business point of view, yes that's correct. But unless you work for GBP or manage Lucas or Danny, then shut the hell up my man!!!! Who wouldn't wanna pay for one PPV card and see Garcia-Matthysse FOLLOWED by Money-Canelo!?!? You must have more money than sense homes.
This pretty much rules out Cleverly and Hopkins.
In the same interview, Hearn suggests that a trilogy is on the cards, with the Amsterdam Arena a possible venue (for those who don't know the venue, it has a retractable roof).
I'm glad if Hopkins and Cleverly are ruled out. Clev don't deserve the shot or bring much other than a lightly regarded title that he's defended against bums. Hopkins brings a lot, but he'd stink out the joint.
As long as Kessler is up for it, sounds a lot like it'll be Froch-Kessler III in Amsterdam. Gonna be a lot of stoned Brits and Danes that weekend!!
IBF need to remove Kell Brook from #1 and move him back to #6, Brook was at one time WBO #1 he did not fight Pacquiao/Bradley so they remove him to 7 place.
Too true. Revoke that rating. Maybe WBU or IBO can install him as their No.1.
I gotta give it up to Khan because the dude knows how to stay relevant. Sure hes another British hypejob but hes interesting. If you cant be great at least be interesting. Even though I absolutely loath Khan I find myself wanting to see him fight so I can come back after and read the threads on this site.
Truedat. Even tho he's never meant for his career to go that way, at least 50% of people tune in to his fights now hoping to see him do the funky chicken and get sparked. To be fair to him tho, win or lose, he makes it exciting.
If Khan beats Alexander you'd have to think they'll push through a fight with Mayweather before someone knocks him out again.
Dun know. If Khan does beat Alexander, he's going straight into a May unification with Money. Kell Brook would have more chance of getting Khan if he loses to Alexander.
These 2 will milk the British public for as long as it takes. Kell's 0 has to be preserved so he can continue filling the Sheffield Arena.
Gotta agree with this. I was interested to see what Brook would do against a top level fighter in Alexander but every single postponement of their fight looked dodgy to me, I dont think Brook fancied it and i think Alexander thought he could maybe get the Mayweather fight (thank fcuk he didnt!). But yeah I don't expect to see Brook in with a live opponent any time soon and have little interest in even watching Brook-Jones II.
I would be shocked if Vitali suddenly grew a pair and fought Haye - he's been ducking Haye since 2011 and very publicly since the Chisora fight.. Vitali doesn't have the balls to step in there with Haye.. I very much doubt it happens, Vitali is clearly terrified of that fight and I don't think he can overcome his fear of Haye.
Yeah Vitali needs to quit *****ing out and fight Haye. Lol "*****ing out" is the worst phrase ever and I hate that people actually use it since Wlad's pathetic youtube vid calling Haye out.
The way us Brits seem to crack on the biggest stage, the fact Froch does seem to be overhyped and remembering how nervous he was in the Jermaine Taylor fight all have me fearing an upset here. Kessler fought in front of 50k against Calzaghe, wasn't fazed and fought well. Froch hasn't been in a fight with anywhere near this kinda hype around it... Hope I'm wrong but I'm think Kessler could hurt and capitalize on a wild, over-eager & over-confident Froch.
Prove me wrong Cobra!!!!
3/1 is decent, could maybe even get better online with PP or Betfair... I was a bit concerned about Froch maybe being overhyped like Sauerland were saying, but after watching the weigh-in Froch looked relaxed and in great shape. Gonna be a great fight I think/hope!
I've been very impressed with Fury, hopefully he keeps up the hard work in the gym because its paying off in the ring
No fcuking way!! You mean the guy with a Team Fury logo as his sig and a pic of Tyson and Hughie Fury as his avatar has been "very impressed with Fury"!!?? Now that's a revelation... Next thing we know Leonard Ellerbe will be telling people how impressed he's been with Floyd Mayweather.
I'm of the opinion that if Fury gets past Cunningham, he's deserving of a shot straight-away. Come on, is Francesco Pianeta worthy of a shot?
You're right but I think it's Team Tyson who want to take their time and rightly so, if Fury beats Cunningham and Pulev convincingly it'll of been well worth the slight delay and it means Wlad Vs Fury would be a prime time late-2013 fight.
Also Arizas fighter have been exposed as being cheaters. Maidana cheating is a real possiblity. He already got exposed for taking a pill in the 11th. (see my signature) PED's aren't out of the question
Sorry but from when you are quoting MediaTakeOut.com (LOL!!!!) as your source, I cannot take you seriously. This is a boxing thread homeboy, save the MTO links for threads about Basketball Wives... No matter how big a cheat someone is, as if they are gonna start slipping pills to a fighter between rounds, there's camera and mics in their faces!!! Even Victor Conte at his height wouldn't of tried tha, shiiiiiiit.
My main reason for starting this thread, was that the manner of AB's defeat made me suspect it was going to be very difficult for him to come back and be anywhere near the attraction he was going into this fight.. His whole thing was built on ego, being undefeated and talking non-stop smack - all things that are gone to different degrees now.
Now reading this article, it's clear he is also surrounded by clueless yes men. Alot of people made the point that his corner did nothing during the fight, and now they looking for any excuse apart from the fact that AB isn't unbeatable and has a lot to work on - which is what he needs to be told, and then do.
He won't though, and like I said, if he goes in with any top fighter at 140 or 147 next he is going to struggle and even if he wins I think will look average. I expect GBP / Haymon to try and pull out some real slick matchmaking for his next fight...
I've been informed by a source that Adam Booth is going to pop up. Not that that makes any difference to Froch, but it shows that the 'split' between Groves and Booth was utter BS; much like David Haye's supposed 'retirement'.
Its all smoke and mirrors.
How reliable and in the know is this source??
Coz after seeing Groves interview with Kugan Cassius after the presser yday, I'm starting to think Booth will be in the Groves corner. He'll definitely be there with Andy Lee either way...
There is no 'close to losing' in boxing. You either win or you lose. People bang on about Froch getting outboxed by Jermaine Taylor, but at the end of the day, Taylor got KTFO. Boxing lasts 12 rounds.
Forget Taylor, that was a clear victory, but still lucky. The Dirrell fight was daylight robbery tho, no way Froch won that one, hometown decision if ever there was one - and Dirrell buzzed him up bad.
1. Floyd
2. Hatton
3. Winky Wright
4. Pacman
5. Calzaghe
Honourable mentions: Haye, Cotto, Zab Judah, Gatti, Lennox (falls just outside this generation I think or I woulda had him no.1)
Khan - Wins 719, Losses 157
Brook - Wins 622, Losses 917
That really does say it all .. Also:
Khan - 28 fights, 8 world title fights, 6 as main event in America
Brook - 32 fights, 0 world title fights and 0 against top 5 ranked 147lb fighters, all 32 in England
Fair enough people don't like Khan, and fair enough people might like Brook. But there are ZERO facts to back up the claim that Brook even deserves to share a ring with Khan let alone spark him out. I'm not a massive fan of Khan myself, I rate him tho and like the fact he's gone to America and chased fights with the best, but Brook really does my head in now and needs to stop embarrassing himself and actually fight someone worth talking about.
If Carl Froch shows up to this fight and box the way he boxed Abraham all those years ago, he wins.
That's just not possible. Abraham and Groves are two completely different fighters, and there is no way Froch can box that fight against Groves.
George, do this and you'll beat the prick:
1) match his jab; when he jabs, you jab;
2) don't square up: he has to turn the hinge for power, don't be there; when he squares zag off and catch him standing;
3) hammer your right when you're 30 degrees off his center either way;
4) if he starts his usual roughing, "miss" with an upper cut and pop his head off with an elbow;
fair well.
This is true. If Groves boxes a bit cleverer this time it could be a landslide.
