TYSON FURY is on a two-fight quest to land a shot at world No.1 heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko.
Morecambe’s 6ft 9ins giant faces American Steve Cunningham on his US debut at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
Victory for Fury, 24, will set up a final eliminator with Bulgaria’s European king Kubrat Pulev to become Klitschko’s mandatory challenger for his IBF world title.
Fury’s promoter, Mick Hennessy, expects Fury to overcome former world cruiserweight champion Cunningham, 36, and is also confident the gypsy giant will continue to be shown on Channel 5.
He said: “Tyson is in a two-fight situation to get to Wladimir and then the fight has to be made or it goes to purse bids. Click Here To Read More]
The Cunningham fight should answer some questions about Fury. I like the fact that he's facing a smaller boxer, which will give him a real test skill wise, see how far he's come along. It's a better test than say Price had vs Thompson, which really didn't answer questions about a British hw. It's a very good test for Fury, but I think he will go in there and spark Cunningham, he's confidence is over the moon atm, he's in good shape, young, super hungry, and going 100 mph fast forward atm.
Well said I agree.tyson will be too big and strong for steve and I also predict a stoppage win for tyson,I really hope that when tyson beats steve that he fights pulev next because when tyson beats him that will erase any doubt that tyson can fight and deserves his chance to be champ.i heard an interesting story about 12 months ago about tyson when he was training at the kronk gym in Detroit apparently when tyson sparred wladimir it was a fairly close contest, that was over two years ago tyson has come on leaps and bounds since.
I'm of the opinion that if Fury gets past Cunningham, he's deserving of a shot straight-away. Come on, is Francesco Pianeta worthy of a shot?
You're right but I think it's Team Tyson who want to take their time and rightly so, if Fury beats Cunningham and Pulev convincingly it'll of been well worth the slight delay and it means Wlad Vs Fury would be a prime time late-2013 fight.
I've been very impressed with Fury, hopefully he keeps up the hard work in the gym because its paying off in the ring
No fcuking way!! You mean the guy with a Team Fury logo as his sig and a pic of Tyson and Hughie Fury as his avatar has been "very impressed with Fury"!!?? Now that's a revelation... Next thing we know Leonard Ellerbe will be telling people how impressed he's been with Floyd Mayweather.
My assessment of Tyson Fury.
Up until a couple of days ago I had only watched some highlights of Fury, and the only fight that I had actually watched was when he fought Chisora. I honestly don't remember much of that fight, I guess I lost interest when Chisora showed up impersonating a fat cow. Although I don't think much of Fury I thought I would be fair and watch his fights.
I watched three of Fury's fights on You Tube. For some reason I could not find the Kevin "No worries I am Only Here to Get Paid" Johnson fight. But that doesn't mater simply because in my opinion he cannot be taken seriously as a fighter.
The fights that I did watch were Fury against Rogan, Firtha and Pajkic. After watching those fights I have to wonder how anyone can take Fury seriously.
Don't get me wrong because it is not like he is a complete bum. Because he does have a nice jab and seems to have fast hands for a big man. But, at times he was being dominated and left wondering around on queer street by a couple of god awful fighters. And the ref that stopped the Firtha fight must have had a bet in on that fight.
As far as the Cunningham fight is concerned. I will not go as far as to say that Steve will win. Simply because of the weight difference as well as lack of power and his age. However, I will say that I don't see him having any problem hitting Fury. Only because I am positive that he has more talent than Firtha, Rogan and Pajkic combined. He is also just as tall as two of them. And even at heavyweight Steve may have as much power as Pajkic and Fury's power in my opinion is overrated. With that said I believe that Steve has a decent chance against Fury
Honestly I was shocked I really was. As I have already said I am not sure what will happen on 4-20. But what I will say is that Haye or any other close to an elite heavyweight should have an easy days work with Fury. And until Fury's exploits in the ring actually catch up to what comes out of his mouth I don't believe that he should be taken so seriously.

Those opponents are still better than Fury's so your statement about Fury fighting better opponents is rubbish. Haye wants to fight Vitali, he already fought the champ who did little more than land a few jabs to win rounds.
LOL.
Wladimir fought how he always does - conservatively.
Haye was the one promising 'fireworks'. He just scampered around the ring for 12 rounds, after realising his retarded plan wouldn't work.
Remind me, how old is David? Tyson is still young, he should take his time.
Haye is the one who needs to step-up.

Chisora
Klitschko
Harrison
Ruiz
Valuev
Barrett

He's fighting better opposition than your lover, David Haye. We, as boxing fans, respect that.
Their last 6 fights
Chisora
Klitschko
Harrison
Ruiz
Valuev
Barrett
Johnson
Maddalone
Rogan
Pajkic
Firtha
Chisora
I'd say Haye's opponents are clearly better.
You're talking as if Wlad takes on all comers. That's the only laughable notion there is. He has one win over current top 15 and that's Haye.
Of Wlad's opponents since 2005, most were ranked in the Ring top ten when he fought them.
Peter
Byrd
Brock
Brewster
Ibragimov
Thompson
Chagaev
Chambers
Peter
Haye
Thompson
were all in the Ring top ten.
In contrast, Haye's glass-chinned June 29th opponent Andrew Wawrzyk not only isn't in the Ring, boxingscene, ESPN top ten, he isn't even in the BoxRec top 45.
Wuhuu Andy, where's your response?
Some of you must be talking about a different Tyson Fury. The Tyson Fury i've seen hasn't been the big punching, boxing master some of you say he is. He has average power at best and was getting walked down by a feather fisted defensive fighter in his last fight.

Totally. He shouldn't be rushed into a championship fight, though. He's still young.
Tyson should build himself more.
If I remember right he was already offered a match with Wlad - so saying Wlad will duck him (or along that note) is unjustified.
Wlad will fight him as long Tyson doesn't lose in the next few fights. It wouldn't be bad if Haye vs Tyson can be made prior to Wlad.
If Haye wants a second chance he should beat the most promising contender out there first - but I doubt either Haye or Tyson would take that fight.
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Fury has improved tremendously over the last three years and is still a young man. However, I can see Cunningham winning rounds with speed and elusiveness, getting in and getting out.
Hennesey needs Channel 5, and I think they will be pushing hard for a Klitschko fight for Fury.
Are they sure it is not a one fight plan to get Pulev? Because I believe that is where Fury's plan will end and that if Steve doesn't derail him first.
You reckon Steve might beat him?
