Something i'm wondering, I've not heard or seen any reference to him completing any sparring. I would have thought after such a long lay off that would have been his best training tool to get rid of the ring rust he's going to have.
I've heard nothing, not one reference to it on his twitter or any mention in his training blogs of sparring for 6-8-10 rounds of sparring.
I also don't see any evidence of training for head movement, why oh why doesn't someone get him doing head movement drills. If you look back at his earlier fights he actually had decent head movement as he came inside, he dropped that not long before the Kostya fight and its never returned. Apart from maybe the first 2-3 rounds of the Mayweather fight.
Anybody have any info on any sparring? Who, How long etc?
I could punch like that for 6 months. You hit me with 6 of them, and I'll hit you with one of f*cking THEM. *POW*

dont worry i got your joke!
The crowd arent pakistani, they cant afford to watch a khan fight well apart from Khan's family in the front most of the people there in Newcastle are probably 95% caucasian.
Rubbish! Im not sayin there wasnt a lot of caucasian people shouting crap as well but im pretty sure there would be plenty of pakistani peope in the crowd! Give me a break, there are plenty of caucasian people that cant afford to go to a khan fight
I sort of agree with that second article in a way, perhaps floyd is weary of pacman but i disagree that he wont fight him for that reason. Floyd was weary of Hatton its clear in his body language. Floyd was all business in the final week before that fight, and i honestly believe he wasnt 100% sure he was going to win, Judah fight was similar. He did of course in both cases and it didnt stop the fights happening.
Its clear this fight should be at 147 no catchweight crap we can all appreciate that.
I also disagree in the first article that Floyd cant take any other fights, of course this one should happen and most likely will. Floyd could always snub pacman and fight mosley, not that i think he wants that fight either but he could do it and it would make money and sense, not as much as the pacman fight but still it wouldnt be a totally pointless event like a fight with matt hatton or god knows who else.
Floyd does have other options but i feel this is merely Floyd trying to unsettle the pacman camp, its gamesmanship thats all.
you could argue that the best thing that could happen is for Floyd to lose, then he will stop protecting his -0- and we will see a much more aggressive Floyd in the future. I personally think Floyd is a great however he hasnt fully reached his potential yet and perhaps if he lost then that would allow his full potential to be achieved. Sounds silly but sometimes to be great you have to lose.
Can you imagine the rematch? It would be even bigger than the first fight. Personally i hope floyd wouldnt retire and wouldnt think that he has to just as he lost, he still has a lot to give to boxing and the fans and to come bk from a loss is what makes a real champ.
Still kinda think he will beat pacman tho so it all cud be pointless convo
Assuming it had gone the distance....and i say Assuming because you cant be sure Lennox wouldnt have knocked him out or vice versa. It would have been close on the cards. I dont like Lewis but ive watched that fight.....loads of times and each time i feel Vitali was blowing and was getting hurt by Lewis' shots whereas his were landing but not as effective.
Its tough, i wouldnt say best heavyweight win of the decade there is a lot of competition for that.
I feel Lennox was out of shape, had underestimated Vitali and yet by round 5 he was gaining the upper hand, and like i say i wasnt his biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination. Who would have won a rematch it would have been very interesting to have seen but sadly we will never find out.
heres how i see it, if Pacman loses and Floyd wins the Floyd is number 1 (obviously)
However if Pacman wins regardless of the outcome of the Mayweather fight then he is still number 1 p4p.
I cant get past the fact that Pacman fought Cotto and i believed Cotto to be the man at 147 (exc floyd) Pacman fought not just any old Welterweight he went and picked one of the best to fight first. He frankly beat Cotto up and i was shocked.
Besides Baldomir and Judah (of which 1 being Judah i will give him credit for) Floyd hasnt fought a top Welterweight and in modern times hasnt fought one either. Thats not to detract from Floyds wins over DLH and Hatton, both of which were very tough fights but both fights which most people saw him winning.
Because i see Clottey as a genuine force at 147, (i rank him top 5) I cannot argue that Shane Mosley is any harder of a fight for Floyd than Clottey is for Pacquiao. Stylistically Shane is a hard fight for anybody especially Floyd as he compares well to Floyd. However Clottey is a very tough durable opponent for Pacquiao its not an easy fight.
Its kinda hard to show my reasoning but i kinda feel like Floyd still wouldnt be fighting top welterweights if Pacquaio hadnt beaten Cotto so convincingly, almost forcing Floyd to show hes still the king.
Roy cracks me up and i cant help but like the guy, not really sure what this fight achieves for him or Hopkins. Shame the Hopkins came off a big win against Pavlik and has now chosen to hunt down a rematch with Jones....doesnt really make any sense at all. Would have liked to have seen Chad Dawson fight Hopkins.
17 years in the making huh......anyone else worried we could easily be saying that about another fight that seems like it may never get made? (dont wanna change topic obviously but sadly in boxing it can happen)
I will probobly watch this fight not really sure why though
Because he got knocked out in TWO if the most embarassing knockouts of recent memory.
Lets not forget that Thomas Hearns got knocked out by Hagler in 3 rounds.....nobody said he was shot, just when you get two offensive fighters in the ring together...people get knocked out.
Doesnt mean hes shot, i just question whether his desire is really there anymore
the more and more i think about this, the more im starting to see Floyds point of view. I dont like the fact he feels he is allowed to change the rules but i just dont see why pacquiao wont give the blood 14 days before. There is no reason why he shouldnt do it, like Teddy said.
As a boxing fan i now want to know if hes clean or not, I want to know if he really beat Hatton and Cotto the way he did naturally or not. Because we all now see these two fighters as spent forces and what if they have both been beaten by someone that is on PED's. I like Pacquiao and i have a huge respect for Floyds abilities, I did think Manny was right when Floyds camp wanted blood taken 1-2 days before the fight, but there is nothing wrong with 14 days people, nothing at all and thats what i cant understand and thats why im worried
So Manny is letting pride get in the way of the biggest fight in years and is hurting you the fan personally by doing so? Sorry but thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard
If Floyd wants to fight a Light Welter, e.g. Bradley then he should drop to 140lbs for the fight. If you wanna fight at 147....fight a welterweight, pretty much anyone in the top 10. Hell we know its a tune up fight anyway as there isnt much else available. Just dont drag smaller fighters up to fight at welterweight when u could fight a genuine welterweight. It makes you look like a coward
Collazo, its the first time id ever seen Hatton get hurt late in a fight. Usually he would wear his opponent down and then be on top by the end. With Collazo he took many hard shots early on and by the end he was completley finished, i think that fight took a lot out of Hatton. Yes Tszyu and Mayweather added to that total outcome although i think he was still walking through many of what Manny threw in Round 2 until the BIG ONE, which by the way would have taken out many top fighters.
Hatton was exhausted in the Mayweather fight, due to stamina problems after losing all that weight over and over and the fact that Floyd made it very physical and is so accurate.
The Collazo fight is more of a war than people credit it with.
i hate to say it but im not entirely suprised by what went on in the ring. Mosley was poor, and thats taking nothing away from a brilliant performance from Floyd. For a guy that has been screaming for Floyd for the best part of 2 years, Shane looked dis-interested after he hurt him. Yes Floyd was always going to come back strong after the 2nd round but Shane made it easier for him.
Mosley stood still infront of Floyd almost trying to counter, which quite frankly is daft. His jab was poor which we all expected, everytime Floyd had his back to the ropes shane just stood there waiting for floyd to do something. Floyd is brilliant and it was a great performance tonight and i dont want anyone to think im in anyway way trying to take anything away from him.
Shane Mosley was very poor, one dimensional with what seemed like no real idea what to do. No jab, no urgency, didnt force the pace, i was at a loss for words by the half way point, Floyd is hard enough to fight and can adjust to everything pretty much but Shane didnt attack he didnt really do anything bar a sneaky right hand in the second and even after that he almost looked lost for what to do.
Nazim was being ignored in the corner, its as though like someone mentioned...Shane mentally lost the fight after the second round.
I didnt back Shane to win, but i backed him to win a few early rounds and at least be in the fight similar to what DLH was. We didnt even get that.
Im not flaming Shane either hes a great fighter, just he didnt seem to have the fire burning last night. Floyd of course has that fire well and truely raging right now.
Round 4? 6? Are you on crack?
Erm no im not on crack, go back and watch the 4th round. Pac may be flurrying but how many of those shots actually land? You cant land one shot when he's off balance and win the round.
I'm not saying your wrong, you may score that round for Pac, I think its a round where its easy to look at it as though Bradley was hurt, he wasnt. Pac barely fought for the first minute of the round.
I know im only adding to peoples opinions however, i watched the fight live and thought it was the biggest robbery ive ever seen. I've just re-watched it and concentrated on punches landing and being effective and watched it like a judge would watch a fight.
I scored it 113-113 a draw. However, I easily could have scored the first round for Bradley and the second round.
Pac - 1,3,5,8,9
Brad - 4,6,10,11,12
Even - 2,7
I can see how people when watching the fight with the crowd noise can score totally differently, and i would happily accept someone else having it 3-4 rounds in favour of pac as it was very close in some rounds.
I do find it amusing however that HBO score shots that hit gloves or shots that are blocked when its Pac throwing them, and yet when someone against Floyd hits arms and gloves they always say they arent clean shots...which is true.
Seems there is a difference in how HBO scores its fights depending on which fighters are in the ring. Maybe this is true of the judges also. Ive changed my mind from it being a clear robbery, to a very close fight.
If Pac wanted a clear win, he should have fought 3 mins of every round and fought the last 3 rounds.... How many times have we all said that about fighters in the past who have lost to underdogs in close decisions.
Question: If Floyd really believes that Pacman is on steroids or a PED of some kind, then he must surely fight the next best fighter available...which would be Cotto, Floyd would surely be of the opinion that Cotto has only lost to fighters that have cheated. So why not fight Cotto? OR Shane? Lets see if Floyd can knock Cotto out? I dont care if the FMJ vs Pacman fight doesnt happen anymore, its become a total joke anyway. But WHY does that fight falling through enable both fighters to fight some fighters that arent even pound for pound quality. If Floyd fights Paulie at 147 i will never pay for another Floyd fight again. Same goes for Pacquiao, if he doesnt fight a serious challenge of which Foreman doesnt count. Fans should boycott these fights. Let them get a big fat 0 for their ppv buys. If the fans want big fights then we need to fight back against this rubbish. DONT PAY FOR THE FIGHTS!
Sorry guys but im so angry with all of this discussion dividing the two fanbases. Both fighters are great, i like both of them. But they are both equally to blame for this pathetic flop of a fight. BOTH FIGHTERS ARE DUCKERS for different reasons! They should sort it out or retire and gone from our screens!
at the moment i dont know who i dislike more? The fact that both camps keep changing their minds and Mayweather coming up with this Olympic style testing all of a sudden, OR the fact that Pacman is unable to just say yeh ok i will do whatever test you want coz i have nothing to hide.
If anything, this whole situation shows up to me how easy it would be to take PED's in boxing and get away with it. If thats the case who can you trust, they could all be on something! Why has this never come up in the past?
Floyd has every right to want pacman to be clean....but why hasnt this ever been brought up in the past?
Boxing is being dragged through the dirt over this fight and its also being made to look like we could have had juiced up fighters winning titles for years. If olympic style is the best.....then why havent we had this style of testing for years?
Both camps are in the wrong and are inconsistent in the things the say and demand...but the big question mark is hanging over boxing in general now and its fairness.
I dunno what the testing is like in MMA but if its the same as boxing then it also needs to be looked at
Yeh Matt Hatton is nobody over here, It would make more sense (and not a lot at that) to offer Ricky a rematch over here. Im sure the hitman would take the fight and they would smash records over here im sure.
Ricky rather than Matt if Floyd wants to fight someone over here. They could sell it im sure.
pointless fight and worthless title, hes no better than Floyd if he fights Foreman. As someone has said its like Floyd fighting Baldomir. Your telling me pacman cant fight the winner of Mosley Berto? Pacquiao has the biggest paycheck next to his name in boxing at the moment, he can basically fight anyone he wants so its his responsibility to fight the big fights.
Mosley,Berto,Williams,Margarito, even a Clottey fight makes more sense!
Or drop to 140 and fight Bradley? Of course we all want to see Floyd but if that aint gonna happen that doesnt mean you should fight the easiest fighter and the weight level above?!
Technically Manny hasnt fought at Welterweight yet! He made Cotto make 145!!
Manny loses a lot of respect if he doesnt fight a top fight at welterweight and takes Foreman instead.
Hes not quite as bad as Floyd in this area but he would take a massive step towards it.
Khan is fighting a guy ranked number 60 on boxred this weekend, ok hes undefeated but hes still rank 60 and hes fighting in theory someone at least in the top 8. This is ok for a Khan first title defence but if they are gonna basically buy him a title and now market him as a champion then he needs to fight contenders. Look down the list at 140lbs and there are plenty of tough opponents before you even get to Hatton. How about the winner of Diaz vs Paulie? Maybe get him in with Junior Witter if you want a domestic tear up. Its typical cowardly tactics by Frank Warren and his people to try catch Ricky whilst hes down and just been knocked out and lookin in the worst shape of his career. Hear this Amir, you dont deserve a Hatton fight, you arent number 1 in the division since losing you fought Fagin...a bum, Barrera....old shot and it still should have been a NC, Kotelnik....pretty good test but the weakest of the champions. Why should you now be the man that fights Hatton? Fight the people who are around you in the rankings there are plenty of them.
Id love Hatton to come out of retirement and knock Khan out and retire, it would be great because this is all a plan by Frank Warren to make Khan number 1 box office in the UK but i dont think he should because he doesnt need to. Khan hasnt earnt that fight end of!
gonna be a great fight, cant see past a Floyd win myself. This fight is good for both men, good for Floyds legacy if he wins. Mosley is still a great fighter as we saw against Margarito. Dont think he has enough to beat Floyd but he certinally has the tools and the intelligence to make it perhaps the hardest fight of Floyds career
Rubbish, Khan doesnt deserve to fight Hatton who has been in the ring with pacman and mayweather. Yeh you are right Hatton is in theory better than Diaz etc, but we dont know how he is since his ko and a layoff of at least a year by the time he comes back.
The only reason Khan gets the fight is because hes British, and for me thats not good enough. He should fight more top 10 fighters and then if Hatton is still around maybe then he should get the chance, or whoever else is top of 140 at the time. You cant just beat a few shot useless fighters and then say....oh i wanna fight the best. Guess what he doesnt deserve it, its a marketing ploy by Frank Warren, hes knows this is his best chance to catch the Hitman whilst hes down and perhaps out.
There are plenty of good fights at 140 for Khan if he wants to take them, why call Hatton out? Coz they are betting on Hatton being shot thats why!
nice guy and half decent im a bit of a fan actually. He isnt naturally talented but he has some heart and i scored the Lacy fight for him.
The Calzaghe stoppage was a joke, the guy didnt deserve such a stoppage coz im pretty sure he would have gone the distance.
It always suprised me that he was operating at such a high weight class as hes not a big guy and should perform much better at 160, and when you look around at who holds the belts at 160, he has a chance at finally getting that world title.
I admire his heart, keeps coming back for more and regardless of whether people want to see him or not, thats still something to look at and say...wow this kid really wants it!
