During a recent appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan admits that he and Ricky Hatton are good friends, but business is business. Khan is willing to fight Hatton if the promoters can put the fight together. Khan says the idea of fighting Hatton is not a joke on his end. He sees big dollar signs for the all-British showdown.
"It is not nonsense. It is a fight that could happen because we are both at the same weights, I am a world champion now, Ricky has come back into the game again from retirement and he wants another shot at a world title. Let's just see how things go - it is all up to the promotion side of it," Khan said.
"It would be a big British fight, a fight that the British fans want to see. It is just a shame we are at the same weight because we are good friends. But business is business and sometimes you have to fight your friends."
Khan defends his title against mandatory contender Dmitriy Salita on December 5. Salita thinks Khan has a glass jaw, and plans to check Khan's chin. Khan too is predicting a knockout win. He thinks Salita is too much of a target with little movement.
"He has got sticky feet, slow feet and has very little lateral movement, so that will work to my advantage," Khan said.
