The right hand of Mosley destroyed Mayweather in the 2nd round, yet he rarely used it after the 3rd. Mayweather seemed open to the right hand more than usual, but Mosley completely abandoned it after the 3rd round. Why was this?
He did look very tired after only a third of the fight, and Mayweather somewhat adjusted to Mosley's early onslaught. But that still doesn't completely explain his total lack of use of his big right hand throughout the rest of the fight. I believe Mayweather mentally broke Mosley in the third round. Mosley hit him with everything he had in the 2nd, but still couldn't get Mayweather out of there. Mayweather showed a lot of guts in the following round, willing to stand and trade with the bigger man, having a lot of success and he put Mosley on the back foot. Something a lot of people didn't believe could happen. I was very impressed with Mayweather's resiliance and determination. I wanted Mosley to win the fight, but when Mayweather was hurt in the second, I was willing him to recover and show how great he is, and he did exactly that. I'm taking nothing away from Mayweather. It was a great performance and a great victory.
Still, I'm disappointed in Mosley. The right hand was very successful in the early rounds. But from the third round on he looked tired, confused, and seemed to have his eyes on the paycheck awaiting him after the final bell. I think he should retire.
Hopefully Pacquaio vs Mayweather will be a great fight...if it ever happens?
i hate to say it but im not entirely suprised by what went on in the ring. Mosley was poor, and thats taking nothing away from a brilliant performance from Floyd. For a guy that has been screaming for Floyd for the best part of 2 years, Shane looked dis-interested after he hurt him. Yes Floyd was always going to come back strong after the 2nd round but Shane made it easier for him.
Mosley stood still infront of Floyd almost trying to counter, which quite frankly is daft. His jab was poor which we all expected, everytime Floyd had his back to the ropes shane just stood there waiting for floyd to do something. Floyd is brilliant and it was a great performance tonight and i dont want anyone to think im in anyway way trying to take anything away from him.
Shane Mosley was very poor, one dimensional with what seemed like no real idea what to do. No jab, no urgency, didnt force the pace, i was at a loss for words by the half way point, Floyd is hard enough to fight and can adjust to everything pretty much but Shane didnt attack he didnt really do anything bar a sneaky right hand in the second and even after that he almost looked lost for what to do.
Nazim was being ignored in the corner, its as though like someone mentioned...Shane mentally lost the fight after the second round.
I didnt back Shane to win, but i backed him to win a few early rounds and at least be in the fight similar to what DLH was. We didnt even get that.
Im not flaming Shane either hes a great fighter, just he didnt seem to have the fire burning last night. Floyd of course has that fire well and truely raging right now.
after getting hit floyd went to a high guard instead of the shoulder roll guard. Shane was looking for it but it wasn't there. He shouldve went to the body to set it up. Also shane was in there looking like somebody on fight night when they don't know how to use the analog sticks tothrow a punch. I'm HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED in shane. He never listened to naz who was telling him the right thing
it wasn't easy to watch my dude!!...not easy at all :nonono:

yea.....this is a sad day
It's simple...

It's not coincidence that every fighter Floyd beats should've/could've done this or that.
Floyd is just a superior fighter who makes even the best fighters look inferior.
cause he woulda got countered by floyds lethal left uppercut/hook
Yeah, but Mosley has taken punishment before, and he was never scared to let his hands go. I honestly believe that after the third round Mosley just wanted to survive the fight and go home with his cheque. I was actually upset with his performance. I honestly believed that after the fireworks in the second round, the fight had the makings of a classic. As it happened, it was pretty dull. The only thing that shined was Mayweather's brilliance.
One thing for certain is, Pacquaio can do to Mayweather what Mosley did to him in the second, and Mayweather can to Pacquaio, what he did to Mosley throughout the rest of the fight. This fight needs to happen. It will be one of the greatest sporting events in history.
same reason DLH stopped throwing the jab, floyd took it away.
there are few things floyd prides himself in more than the ability to adjust in the middle of a fight aswell as beating oponents with his mind.
hes a strategic fighter with very well rounded defense, mainstream fans cant see the subtle changes he make to take away a fighters main weapon. just like hopkins taking away the left hook of trinidad, the right hand of pavlik and the straight left of tarver. boxing IQ.
mosley didnt just stop throwing it, mayweather neutralized it. what shane should have done was to build of the momentum and land something else. to avoid the right hand u gotta look for the right hand, shane shouldve dropped some feints on floyd and start nailing him with something else.
instead he just looked to load up on the right hand, but floyd made sure not to get within range so he could throw it. used angles to get of his own shots without the risk of getting caught with the right of mosley. shane helped by not staying patient and set up his punches.
Mosley just couldn't adjust to what Floyd was doing. Why he started mimicking Mayweather is beyond me. Shane started head hunting thinking he was going to catch Floyd with another big right hand and abandoned everything else he was doing before he actually landed it.
