I saw this fight recently, and noticed that Hatton was eating plenty of Tszyu's vicious right hands. I say that was the last time his chin was in it's "prime".
It seems after that fight with Tszyu, Hatton's chin hasn't been all that great.
I would say Zoo and PBF did the job. It's hard to tell who is more to blame for it. Zoo hits harder, but PBF hit him more, so it' not obvious.
I like Ricky, he is a nice guy, but he was bound to burn fast, with his style and lifestyle.
i would say its a a combination of the bombs he took, getting KO'd against floyd, confidence and not looking after himself properly. In the malignaggi and pacquiao weigh ins hatton looked seriously ill. compared to the mayweather weigh in when he was ripped. 2 different divisions i know but there was only 5lbs between the weights.
Tasty cracked it, mayweather shattered it
100% in my opinion. Hatton ran into some nasty shots from Mayweather and took them quite well even though he was buckled a few times, but the constant punishment from both fights and eventual KO by Mayweather really took its toll on his chin.
Not only in the tsyzu fight, Hatton just takes too many punches right before the Tsyzu fight, He gets hit too easy and too much which made for his fans friendly style early on in his career, He had the perfect game in mauling/wrestling tsyzu to death but since then he has tried to do the samething to all of his opponents which makes watching him look horrible to watch.
I remember after the Tszyu fight people were saying Hatton has the best chin in the world and is the best body puncher in the world.
he was one of the best body punchers in his time. that left hook was picture perfect against castillo, and i remember the commentator saying he has only seen 2 perfect left hooks like that.
Problem with Hatton is that he didn't treat his body like a temple, and do the correct things when he left the gym. He says himself, the first thing he goes for after weighting is the Chinese food. I think he probably loves dark beers too, which are very bad for you and highest calorie beverage you can drink on this planet.
But he deserves respect he could've done the carpet thing with his family but decided to box. He's taken alot of risks on the world level and he's also fought the best in the world. Give him a little respect where it's due otherwise you're a disgrace to boxing
I personally don't think Hatton's chin was "great" to begin with.
It was good no doubt but throughout his career he was getting hurt, even by lesser guys.
Magee dropped him and stunned him a few times.
Urango hurt him to the body.
Collazo almost had him out of there in the last round of their fight.
To his credit, he did take alot of shots from Floyd before eventually being broken down.
Lazcano hurt him twice.
Pacquiao bombed him out.
The pattern from the list above is Hatton had more trouble with southpaws.
I think Hatton's chin did decline more because of his life style though.
I remember after the Tszyu fight people were saying Hatton has the best chin in the world and is the best body puncher in the world.
Dang they did say that funny how things have changed.
its a factor of tszyu weight ballooning and mayweather
the tszyu fight was one of them nights where hatton would of walked through hell fire and brimstone to win the world title
I couldn't agree with you more, Kosta didn't have any answers for Hatton's reckless abandonment. Nobody was beating him in Manchester that night. Truth is Hattons unhealthy lifestyle caused him to loss his chin. He would lose 35-40 lbs in preparation, but he was a serious athlete
Collazo, its the first time id ever seen Hatton get hurt late in a fight. Usually he would wear his opponent down and then be on top by the end. With Collazo he took many hard shots early on and by the end he was completley finished, i think that fight took a lot out of Hatton. Yes Tszyu and Mayweather added to that total outcome although i think he was still walking through many of what Manny threw in Round 2 until the BIG ONE, which by the way would have taken out many top fighters.
Hatton was exhausted in the Mayweather fight, due to stamina problems after losing all that weight over and over and the fact that Floyd made it very physical and is so accurate.
The Collazo fight is more of a war than people credit it with.
