hey guys I dont like either Vitali or Danny, but I think its gonna be an awesome fight.
I think it's a matter of who sucks less and I hope Williams sucks less tonight!
maybe i just hold actually boxing skills in a different regard then u guys
u seem to think throwen a jab once n while is boxin
but i dont
Good for you to focus on just one point, it was JUST AN EXAMPLE. It's not just the jab, Manny showed that he is slick, isn't that being skillfull? Seeing an opportunity to go to the body because Morales was covering up his chin and laying low, and going for it, that's a display of skill too. I mean Manny stepped in to the left and banged Morales to the side of his body. Screw anymore examples, just bring on the damn rematch after some much needed RnR... I'm sure Manny's licking his lips for a second chance too.
Morales was also sneaky with hiding his right and spearing his jab at Manny.
As if Morales was so dominating... I saw this thrilling fight as a close one.
Pacquiao was not affected by the weight. He said the weight was fine and it is around his natural weight. Obviously as he moves up his speed with slow down, but he is still quicker then any other fighter at 130. Pac still had his power. His power was very visible when he would rush Morales and Erik would back up almost into the ropes. Erik was hurt pretty bad to the body in the first round, I'm not sure why Pacquiao did not stay on the body. Pac got tired because he did not pace himself, he threw a lot of power punches in the early rounds. Morales on the other hand was pacing himself by picking his spots.
I totally agree with this. The left body shot that landed on Morales as he was against the ropes in the first, hurt Morales big time! It made him retreat all the way back to another set of ropes in the ring. I was up on my feet at the end of that round saying "Manny just needs to stick to his game plan." Before the fight, I kept thinking "manny needs to stick to the body attack in the early rounds to have a chance for a KO in the later rounds, when he can go head-hunting. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I think that Manny got tired in the early rounds and needed to slow down (which he did), but before catching his breath to do battle again, he received the cut. He showed a lot of heart. I cannot believe someone can say he was outclassed by Morales when he had blood seeping into his right eye from before the halfway point of the fight. I mean if Morales couldn't take Manny out with a cut like that, this just proves Manny's a World-class warrior...
Morales displayed great boxing, I must admit I was impressed. I have respect for him now, doesn't mean I have to like him.
It would be nice for Pac to use his right. Pac needs to get in the inside with EM nail him with body shots and head shots and use his quickness to get out. That should help him get the KO.
I can understand Marco being high up on the list because he came back from that devestating KO and beat the shit out of Paulie Ayala and Erik Morales. He didnt win those fights, he dominated.
MAB did NOT dominate Morales, I saw MAB winning it, but in no way can you call that fight dominating. It's like saying Morales dominated against Pacquiao last night. Pac fought well, I saw Morales winning a close one, but I wouldn't have been surprised with a draw. No one was dominated in either fight. Both fights were close and featured ring warriors. IMO, Pac deserves to stay in the P4P ranks. Regardless, Manny showed great heart, a damn strong chin (he's taken the best from MAB, JMM and Morales, and where was he... still standing!) and was sportsmanlike in defeat. "Anytime, anywhere"
Hats off to Morales, great, intelligent boxing last night.
where the hell did he show any sort of boxing talent in this fight?
u must be insane if u saw pac show boxing talent 2nite
the only time he looked like he had boxing talent was against MAB
This is why boxing is boxing. Everyone's got their own opinion.
I am a Manny fan, first and foremost.
Pac showed his boxing talent last night. He was doing some bobbing and weaving, and he was going to the body in the 1st. He was quick with his defense and he rocked Morales by getting him to parry Manny's right, and punching him hard with his left. Do not say Manny did not show any talent, that's just foolish crap.
Manny also showed great sportsmanship, made all of us filipinos proud, even in defeat! His heart was the size of our population, fought though his face was bloodied. He showed that he indeed has a great chin.
Morales is damn talented. Great tactician tonight, he gained my respect. Showed his iron chin and was pretty damn sneaky as well. Hats off to him. But it was Bullsh1t for him to say he wasn't hurt, he was definitely hurt by Manny in the 1st from the body attack and he was rocked numerous times in the 12th. Manny was hurt too, but he was able to fight back. Damn great fight.
I still believe that Manny will come out victorious in a rematch, I don't care what anyone else thinks, IMO this was close fight that definitely should result in a rematch.
I agree with this quote:
"I have one word of advice for Manny Pacquiao. Indeed, he is a marvel. He is a pure warrior while Erik Morales won by using his brains. Next time, it will be worth Pacquiao’s while if he goes into the mental intricacies of boxing. If he does so and learns, he will be unbeatable."

I just watched Mayweather vs JLC 1 and 2 and I saw 1 as a pretty close fight. I think that JLC should have retained his belts, but I can also see why the judges had it for Mayweather (maybe not by their margines though). Floyd was very slick in most of the middle rounds. even if JLC had most of the later rounds. IMO, Mayweather did enough early to make it close.
With the 2nd fight, I saw Mayweather out-boxing JLC well. No arguments with his win there. I honestly think that Mayweather would win 9 times out of 10 against JLC.
JLC's got good defense nice in-fighting style, he loved to hug Mayweather with his left as he got some body shots in. But IMO, he's nothing spectacular, just a solid fighter.
After watching Freitas-Corrales, I thought that Corrales fought a good methodical fight. It looked like he was just waiting and waiting, sorta like Ibeabuchi against Byrd, and Chico clocked him 3 rounds in a row.
So now that I have a better idea of JLC's style. I really think this could be a close fight. I have a feeling that Chico's gonna be very patient, cause he knows he'll be able to find JLC in the later rounds. Problem is that we'll see if Chico can actually hurt JLC in the later rounds.
I'm pretty sure there will be a few exchanges early. I really think Chico's more stable at 135. We'll see tomorrow night. I'd also like to see Chico use his jab more effectively. I think he'll need to be more active than he's been in the past to win some early rounds to have a chance to pull out a decision if it goes that far.
I'm still going with Chico!
Here's an example of a right hook from the orthodox stance:
Hopkins last punch that connected against Trinidad in round 12. The one that dropped him to cause the TKO. Hopkins deliberately went wide with his left uppercut. To hide his right and countered with a right hook to drop Trinidad. Now that's a right hook.
Legend is on to something here, in that Corrales takes a DIFFERENT PUNCH AT LIGHTWEIGHT then he did AT JR. LIGHTWEIGHT! And for that matter he hits harder then he did at jr. lightweight. And the fact of the matter is that not only is he the best lightweight around, but he knocked out the second best lightweight in his last fight! People have gotten too high on Castillo of late, he is a really solid fighter, but Chico is a MUCH harder puncher, and punching is what Castillo is best at.
I will agree with this. I know this is a little off topic, but I believe that Pacquaio also takes a punch better as he moved up to featherweight and now super-FW. He took the best that Marquez and Morales had to offer, but never went down. MAB couldn't do anything even though he was only 80-95%.
Back to Corrales, I think Corrales takes punches better at 135 and I think he will win. Corrales has the height, even though he doesn't use it well. But I'm sure his reach will play a factor in this fight. I mean he's got 2 inches on Castillo and he's got a lot of pop to go with his punches. What I really want to see is how Castillo handles the power. I think that this will be key. If Castillo is the in-your-face type of guy, then Chico's going to get hit, but Castillo's gonna get hit too. It will be interesting to see if someone goes down from the punches.
If Chico wins, then I want to see Morales move up to 135 if he doesn't agree to fight Pacman again. Corrales will be too much for EM, I am certain of that. Then we'll see Morales knocked down...
Barrera-Fana = Barrera
Mosley-Estrada = Mosley
Cintrón-Margarito = Cintrón
Wlad-Castillo = Wlad
Ruiz-Toney = Ruiz
Trinidad-Wright = Trinidad
Hopkins-Taylor = Executioner
Tzyu-Hatton = Tsyzu
Castillo-Corrales = Castillo
hopkins vs Trinidad II =Trinidad
I would rather see Wright-Hopkins. IMO, even if Trinidad beats Hopkins in a re-match, what does that prove? Nothing. It shows that it took Trinidad 4 more years to beat Hopkins at 40. Big f**kin deal. Doesn't take anything from Hopkins' place in history.
Hope for a UD for Wright.
Im probably biased because im australian but the hussein v acre fight was just so intense and the shots landed were big.
Pac v morales was good but alot of the shots weren't really rocking the head back pac seemed to lack power and morales has little power at 130.
Felt the same way about Pac v EM. It was so stressful to watch how Manny was going fight.
Manny rocked EM in the 12th.
Thank you Erik for making my wallet a little bit fatter.
Not what most betters expected. Morales made Pacquiao look maaaaaaad hurt! Morales smiled off his frenetic little attacks and came at him like a bulldozer, rocking Pacquiao's wig back. It would have been better for Pacquiao's sake to have been knocked out. But I'll take a clinical exhibition of Morales' prowess any day over the transcourse of 12 rounds.
Last night Pacquiao was overmatched, outboxed, outslugged, and outwilled and exposed as a one diminensional fighter. If I were him I would stay as far away from Morales or any other clever multi-dimensional fighters to save face...literally.
Yeah, and that's why the fight was scored 115-113 by all three judges, because Morales dominated...
Don't really care about your other opinions of Freddie Roach, etc.
Barrera wants to cash in on his belt now. He knows fighting Manny would be a big risk for pay days, so I think he's just saying crap about Manny because he wants $. Money talks and Manny would shut it up for MAB.
WTF... HBO DID NOT HATE ON ANYBODY TONIGHT! I'm sick of people saying they are bias and whatnot. Leave them alone....assholes. And btw LARRY MERCHANT IS THE MAN! AND JIM LAMPLEY! AND STEWARD!
I agree with Larry and Manny Steward. Steward actually said last night that Rahim punches with his hands open still when they make contact. I thought that he was being pretty good with his comments. Rahim is a good boxer, but he's not really a puncher.
The error was self admitted, because he claimed he didn't realize that was the propper score. He flat out said if he had known at the time (how he didn't I don't get) he'd have scored it 10-6.
Yeah, in my books Manny beat JMM too. Who really cares? The supposed unKOable Morales was KO'd in devastating fashion tonight. Let's just celebrate.
I think Manny should not fight JMM, JMM is too high risk, low reward. Manny should fight MAB $$$
I swear to god man...I even bet $20 on him, I better go pick up that money at school on Monday...
Him against Barrera....hmm...
I believe it will be a VERY tough one, I am obviously biased and will be rooting for Barrera, but I also feel he can pull it off....well sorta...
IF Barrera can beat Pacquiao, he will be top 5 featherweight of all time IMO...
Sorry, I gotta disagree, it'll be the same result as Manny vs MAB 1.
So can JMM, don't you think?
Yes, and that's what makes a rematch very intriguing. I definately think it could be a pick-em type fight. Much like this was with the pre-fight predictions, etc.
JMM is a boxer, so he will be technical in fighting and always be able to adjust. I'm just saying the 1-D argument doesn't hold, IMO. He showed that he can make adjustments too, which would make for a very interesing fight. But if I had to predict the outcome in a rematch, I'd go with KO for Manny. Manny's power in both his right and left would be too much for JMM. JMM can't just avoid the left straight to time his counter.
What do you think of this?
However, IMO Manny should be looking to MAB first, then JMM after.
The scores are not so important to me. JMM thoroughly outboxed Pacman: that is what matters to me.
So seeing what you saw tonight, do you think Manny can make the necessary adjustments in a JMM rematch.
I think so.
Ok, going to bed, but here's some observations I made after rewatching the fight.
Manny's speed advantage was just too much. I mean Manny caught EM with man lead lefts throughout the fight. He also had his way with EM's body.
lb for lb, no one's got better power. Overrated, my azz.
130 should be the highest Manny should go.
Good night everyone...
I'm suggesting that Pac fans can't have it both ways. They can't claim the gloves were a big issue and use it as an excuse and then not mention these facts with Pac's win tonight. They can't have the best of both worlds is all I'm saying.
So they have to either discredit both, or credit both... none of this in the middle bull shit.
OK, I'll stop talking about the gloves issue and just say Manny kicked Morales ass tonight, plain and simple. :D
EM won't do it!! here are the reasons:
1.he had trouble making weight (130 lb limit)
2.he got beaten in a very convincing fashion (almost the same as barrera's)
3.he can't get any better. if it's right to say his on his way to declining
3.a fighter like him who's not used to this sort of beating will find it hard to recover from that and because of that...
4.he will retire or maybe move to 135 lbs.
Excellent points, but EM is stubborn and he may feel that he wants revenge after a lot of thinking. And to think, EM was even considering fighting Corrales at 135.
hey guys i am quoting myself, nobody tried to answer my question..
i am really interested what Erik's next move SHOULD BE...
Pare, I think it should be a nice LONG break... then decide if he wants to exercise the rematch clause against Manny
True that Barrera's reasons were valid, but the thing is that Barrera wasn't that eager to have rematch with Manny, while Manny sought the rematch with Morales as soon as possible. And that's the big difference. The only way to know if Barrera's reason's are really valid is to have a rematch after that we can't really call it.
I got nothing against Morales he fought like a warrior, till the end. Morales is one bad mudafuka, lesser fighter would've been out by the seventh round the latest. Congrats to Manny! Ju da mang, mang!!!
Hell yeah!
Well.. how can it be a retard? PAC did REARRANGE Morales' face.
A couple of welts, some cuts, black eyes on both face, how can he be a retard for saying the truth?
Isn't that illogical?
Yes, it is. There is validity to the gloves argument. Some of Manny's excuses in the 1st fight were validated in the 2nd one, IMO. I think that Manny was more serious during the pre-fight instructions with Bayless. I know that it was a short clip, but Manny really looked determined.
erik morales already has his place set in stone...now manny pacquiao has made his mark on boxing and has shown that he is a great fighter as well
Yeah, Manny has done enough to establish Hall of Fame status.
