Im sick of these guys losing and all of you want to keep putting them high on the list. It's the same shit people use to do with Oscar. Some of you now have Morales in the top 5 and some have him all the way at 3. How can he be in the top 5 when he just beat a guy who was coming off a draw and before that people said he was finished because he lost twice to MAB and had close wins over lesser fighters including one over a one arm Chaves which he might have lost if that didnt happened.
How can MAB be high on the list when just 2 fights ago he was dominated and KO by Pac
How can Pac be high on the list when he just lost to Erik and had a draw in the fight before
Give other fighters a chance. Winky hasnt lost in a while and beat Shane twice convincinly and is now moving up and fighting Tito. Zab just be a top 5 #4# guy in his backyard and by KO. Chico and Castillo have been fighting the best and will now fight each other. R.Marquez beat Too Sharp twice and once by KO and plus KO Tim Austin. Let these guys get there props. There are more fighters in the world then those 3 on the title. You guys act like he destroyed Pac.
They can be on the list but not high on the list with the recent wins those other guys have.
Im a Floyd fan but if he was totaly dominated and TKO by Zoo just a couple of fights ago like MAB, you guys know that you would not put him high on the list. If Floyd lost his last fight to Zoo and had a draw with Gatti in his previous fight like Pac, you guys know that you would not have him high on the list. If he lost 2 fights to Zoo and had some close fights including a close win over a one arm Gatti like Morales then you would not have him high on the list. If Floyd did those things, most of you wouldnt have him on the list at all, let alone in the top 5. Stop being biased to your favorite fighters and your countryman
Your missing the main difference though and the difference is that I dont penalize guys for close fights but Erik has recently "lost twice". That is the main point. You can say they were agaisnt a good fighter but that only matters so much. Like I said, if Floyd lost to Zoo twice would you still have him in the top of the rankings and another big thing is the second lost came just after MAB got dominated and KO. You cant have Morales up that high
When Morales lost the second fight, a large amount of people, including myself, had him winning the fight. I didn't de-value his stock so much after that since I thought he was wronged. In between that time, he beat Ayala, KOed Espadas, moved up and beat Chavez, and beat the IBF champ Hernandez convincingly. I had him back in the three spot...and then he closely lost to Barerra again. I bumped him way down to the 9 spot after that, because I took into consideration that it was against a GREAT fighter, and I also took into consideration that he lost to someone who was just dominated by Pacquiao.
The argument you're presenting right now is pretty good and I agree that losing twice within 2&1/2 years should take down a fighters p4p stock. What makes me think that Erik deserves a top five spot however is the fact that he is consistently taking on the big names in his division and is one of the most active champs/fighters/warriors in the biz. Bear with me on this next example: If Mayweather were to beat Gatti, then lose a close fight to Tszyu in which many people thought he was robbed, and the moved up and beat a few other good fighters at 147 (meanwhile Cotto slaughters Tszyu at 140), and then had a rematch with Tszyu at 147 and lost another close majority decision...and then Floyd comes back and beats Cotto convincingly at 147...I wouldn't move him very far out of his current p4p ranking. Whew that was tedious....
Diego Corrales was K.O.'d a few fights back against PBF.
did not seem to hurt his credibility any.
And what is bullshit? That M.A.B. dominated the man who just derailed Pacman?

Chico and Floyd was over 5 years ago. It's bullshit that you would put MAB high when he just got dominated and KO 2 fights ago. If he got beat that would be one thing but he was destroyed
Thats bullshit.

Whoa whoa whoa...you're getting ahead of yourself. I NEVER said in any previous posts that Floyd didn't have an excellent resume, nor did I imply that he didn't. I said he hasn't done SHIT as of late. You know that and I know that. I think Floyd has a great resume and is an excellent fighter. But he shouldn't be treated any differently just because he's been "trying" to make the big fights and hasn't been able to get them. He doesn't get a get out of jail free card...circumstances arent fair sometimes. The fact is that he's fought average at best fighters in the last 2 years. By the logic you were using, Floyd shouldn't be as high as he is on the list by way of his past four performances. I equate his fight against Corley to Morales' fight against Chavez...where both guys were rocked but both won in convincing fashion. Floyds up there p4p because of his unbeaten record and success at past weights...even though he had the shadiest of all shady wins against Castillo...not because what of he's done lately.
Morales, despite the close losses to Barrera, has had just as good a record as anybody over the last handful of years. Floyds fought 33 times and has beaten Hernandez, Hernandez, Castillo (questionable), Corrales, Augustus, Sosa and Corley.
Morales has fought 48 times, lost twice (questionable), and has beaten Chi, Zaragoza, Jones, Barrera, McCullough, Kelley, Ayala and Hernandez. Their common opponents were Hernandez and Chavez...Floyd performed better against Chavez but I feel Erik performed better against Hernandez. Add to all of this that Erik has just taken 3 hard back2back2back fights and he's more active...I think he's just as deserving of his 3-6 spot as Floyd is of his 1 or 2 spot.

Damn straight. And you know where I stand on this issue. If he beats Corrales then Tszyu....he will be the #1 fighter on Mother Friggin Earth.
:boxing: {grr. angry now :mad: for him not recieving due credit}
Castillo more than likely is fueled by him having a "chip on his shoulder"
He is a top 15 P4P fighter right now IMO.
I'd say Castillo is on the bubble right now. I think he's somewhere from 8-10. A big win over Corrales would put him in the top 3 for me.
If somehow he ate Tszyus onslaught and stopped him late, I'd say he'd deserve a mention for #1.
I'm talking about Castillo here. You dont think Castillo deserves to be in the top 8 fighters in the world if he beats Corrales? I'd say, IF he beats Corrales, winning 7 straight fights since Floyd including wins over nice fighters like Lazcano and Diaz, and wins over elite fighters like Corrales and Casamayor should put you in the top 8 in the world.

This is for you and "martinwbc". That is not fair what you guys say about Floyd. The guy has one of the best resume's out there and lets get to the point of now. Why did Floyd start fighting these bums? He wasnt even supposed to fight Brusseles or Chop. He moved up to 140 where he asked Hatton and Gatti for a fight and they both turned him down so he fought Chop but Gatti had to fight him the next fight. What happened? The WBC and HBO let Gatti run again so he had to fight Brusseles. Dont act like Floyd hasnt been trying to fight the top guys because you know he has.
Also when Gatti and Hatton turned him down, he was going to move up to 154 and have a tune up and fight Oscar but Oscar said no. Then Floyd watched Jones beat Ruiz and he said "well, I guess I dont need a tune up and I will jump straight to Oscar right now" but Oscar again said no so stop trying to act like Floyd hasnt been trying to get these fights.
Tell me this, who else could he fight? There was no other top guy he could fight. Zoo and Mitchell were fighting eachother. Gatti and Hatton didnt want to fight him. Cotto was to green. The only guy he couldve fought was Harris and if he did that then he would lose his #1 ranking in the WBC for a big money PPV fight with Gatti, and you know if Gatti didnt have to fight him then he wouldnt fight him
The fight with Morales and Chaves was close. Alot of people including myself thought that if he didnt hurt his arm, he couldve beaten Morales

Oh, I thought you were askin about what should happened to Chico. Go look at the top 10 pound for pound thread that I made. He is already in my top 5
Then he should be off the list until he fights another top guy

Because he beat Morales in convincing fashion, and has the best resume of any featherweight on Planet Earth.
Thats bullshit. Again you guys are talking about lifetime. If anyone else except these guys got dominated and KO just 2 fights ago, none of you would have them on the list and you know it. Tell me this, if Floyd gets KO by Zoo 2 fights ago would you have him high on the list
If your on that "what have you done for me lately" tip...then what the hell has YOUR BOY Floyd done for us lately? By this logic...Floyd shouldn't be as high up on the list since he's beaten, oh, Bruseles, Sosa, NDou and Corley...none of which are world class fighters. Not to mention thats in a span of 2 years. The reason that Floyd is so high on the list (I don't dispute him being 1a behind Hopkins) is because of what has done in his LIFETIME. Not because he's been shitting on top notch comp in the past couple of years.
For the guy who runs around these forums proclaiming that he "keeps it real", its strange that you'd question Barreras greatness. I can't think of any guys who are in these guys (Morales, MAB, Marquez, Pacquiao) class at 126 and 130, outside of Yoda 3K maybe. I think Barrera should be somewhere in the 8-10 range and Morales should be somewhere around the 4/5 spot. Beating the IBF beltholder Hernandez, losing a close decision to Barrera, and then winning a convincing decision against the guy who dominated Barrera and almost took out the 126 lb champion deserves to put you in the top 5 IMO.
Morales didn't "just barely get by" a one handed Chavez. Even though Chavez hurt his hand, he gave a very spirited performance. Morales still won the fight fairly convincingly in my eyes and I think he did on the cards as well (I don't remember what they were). Keep one thing straight though...you are NOT the authority on how p4p rankings should go. Neither am I, nor is anyone else on these forums. So stop telling people they are "biased" or wrong for having their own opinions. Just keeping it real.

Let me ask you, should Castillo beat Corrales in a convincing fashion...what do you do with him in terms of P4P ranking.
Then he should be off the list until he fights another top guy
Thats my point man. Alot of experts have Juan Marquez up there to. Just because these guys keep fighting eachother and losing to eachother doesnt mean they should stay on top the rankings over top other guys who are also beating top talent and arent losing
These 4 guys, when any 2 meet each other produces a REAL FIGHT.
I think these 4 muskeeters are changing the horizon for boxing. They bring credibility to it. The fans don't appreciate it when they fight others. Salido for Marquez - a lot of complaints. Ayala for Barerra - nobody cared. 3K for Pacman - who's that. Morales is a top ten coz he went for Pac after MAB.
I love these 4 only if they fight each other coz I know its gonna be a REAL FIGHT.
Your talking about lifetime and thats not what this is about. He has 2 recent losses to MAB. You say that MAB was so great but just 2 fights before he beat Morales, he was dominated and KO by Pac. How can Erik get in the top 4 with a win over a guy who didnt even win his last fight. His performances of late are not worthy of being in the top 4 so stop being biased. He just barely beat a one arm Chaves

Erik deserves to be fairly high on the list. I have him in my top five, although I'm not sure that he deserves to be top 3. I'd slate him and Tszyu 3/4...and that's interchangeable. I don't think losing two close decisions to the best little man of the last 10 years, and beating all other top competition constitutes being bounced out of the top 5-7 fighters in the world. In his last 5 fights he's convincingly beat Chavez, Hernandez, Espadas, Pacquiao, and lost a very close decision to Barrera. Add to the fact that he's very active (whereas Tszyu is not), I think he should definitely be in the top 5. I'd agree with the fact that its lame that MAB/Morales/JMM/Pac keep fighting each other, but who are the other world beaters at these weights who could present the level of competition that these guys bring? Morales will probably be moving up soon and may be a 4 div champ within the next couple of years.
